okay i went and found raws of the serialization (heard this month's chapter is incredible so i might try to inch my way through ahead of translators lmao), and apparently there are character profiles floating around the margins that the volume release cuts out
and in chapter 53 yoyoko's literally says "ひとりとはタイプの違うコミュ症"
and i can't tell what exactly the first part of that means but it seems to confirm that hamazi 1. considers yoyoko to have a communication disorder and 2. considers bocchi to not have a communication disorder

i... think the translation would be something to the tune of "she's a communication-disordered person who differs from hitori in her type", but even though basically the only thing i know about japanese grammar is that that looks like it should be a relative clause that really does not feel right
but i especially do not understand the first thing about topic structure so that could be structurally correct despite sounding insanely clumsy in english
in any case i take it to mean something like "she's a different type from hitori, having a communication disorder"

...though come to think of it it could be "different type of communication disorder"
that might be it
in which case 2 does not hold :P

@UnrelatedString Thanks. Always interested in this kind of info. I get the impression that communication disorder is used as a more informal word in Japanese, perhaps especially when using the abbreviated version: takashionary.com/komyu-shou
I haven't read the manga, so I don't know anything about Yoyoko. However, as far as communication disorder goes (in English, anyway), it can refer to Autism, stutters, etc. I'll just give Wikipedia's definition: A communication disorder is any disorder that affects an individual's ability to comprehend, detect, or apply language and speech to engage in dialogue effectively with others.
A distinction can be made between anxiety-based disorders, where the person understands social cues and knows how they're supposed to respond, but can't because they're too nervous, and disorders where the person doesn't understand social cues.
I've been confused in the past whether social anxiety disorder actually falls under the banner of communication disorder or not, and since I am not knowledgeable enough to actually know the answer, I will simply draw attention to this and suggest the possibility that it might not be accurate to translate the word コミュ症 as communication disorder, despite it literally being a loanword.
Oh, the Fandom wiki shows that Yoyoko had a cameo in the anime. If I rewatch it, I'll have to watch for it. I look forward to learning more about this character.

To pick this argument back up, I rewatched the first episode of Bocchi the Rock (the reviews were only of this episode), and I stand by what I wrote previously: Even just with this one episode as a point of reference, Rebecca Silverman's point is invalid.
As UnrelatedString informed me, it seems to be the word 陰キャ that is translated as introvert (I tried to listen for it, and mostly confirmed each case). However, the term social anxiety also comes up two times in the translation. I believe I heard the term コミュ障 in these sentences.
Importantly, according to the translation, Hitori never refers to herself solely as an introvert, nor does she blame her introversion for her problems (as Silverman claims). We get this line: "The internet is filled with socially anxious introverts just like me!"
There is nothing wrong with this sentence. Hitori is an introvert and she is socially anxious. Anyone nitpicking this is wrong.
1. Hitori Gotoh absolutely has social anxiety. This line: "Not the flashbacks! Begone! Begone, filthy memories!" This is definitely a social anxiety thing, not an introvert thing.
2. Silverman is absolutely wrong when she writes this: "And while she does show signs of introversion – her comment at the end about being exhausted from too much socializing shows that – most of her issues seem to stem from anxiety instead." Getting tired from socializing is ABSOLUTELY an introvert thing. So while she's right that Hitori's problem is social anxiety, she's using incorrect reasoning.
As far as 1, Rebecca Silverman would not disagree with me. Though I could add many more examples of showing Hitori Gotoh has social anxiety.
Now, there's another line from Hitori: "A life as the archetypal introvert just seems to fit me best."
She is not calling herself an introvert here, but rather saying she would do best under the archetypal introvert lifestyle. There is nothing wrong with this. It is not conflation of the terms. In fact, most of the time Hitori uses the term introvert, it is to describe others around her.
"Yeah. A band is a place where even introverts can shine." This is a different character calling himself an introvert.
"but they're all indoorsy, shy introverts!"
"The internet is filled with socially anxious introverts just like me!"
There's nothing odd about someone with social anxiety trying to find comradery with introverts. So, yeah, I'm going to have to strongly disagree with what Silverman said.

Q: Anime with toy cars fighting in an arena

animefinderI remember three main characters, one with purple hair and glasses, one with red hair and one with green hair. They would each have their one cars and in every episode they would battle some of the toughest opponents. I watched about 6-7 years ago and now I can't find it anywhere.
