@Memor-X Hmm, the one area where I can probably outshine your knowledge of Yuri is knowledge of Touhou pairings, and even then I don't know by how much since Touhou pairings are well documented. Nevertheless, I'm willing to bet you haven't seen the Mystia/Mouku pairing before, so I can probably interest you in some Night Sparrow Love XP

Of course, you'll need some backstory information: Mystia and Mouku are both characters from imperishable night. They had not directly interacted in that game, but the justification for the pair is that they are both bird themed, with Mystia the stage 2 boss being a night sparrow, and Mouku having a phoenix motif,.

Mystia can sing songs which cause night blindness, which is convenient for her because conveniently enough she is sometimes depicted as running a grilled lamprey stand (lamprey can cure night blindness) and considers eating poultry cannibalism. XP

As for Mouku, she lives alone in the bamboo Forrest and wears the pants in the Touhou games (literally, she was the only character that wears pants ever since Yuuka traded hers in for a skirt, unless you count Wriggle Nightbug's shorts): Zun doesn't think he's good at drawing pants.

There's more I could say, but I'm not entirely sure how relevant it is to Night Sparrow Love since I've only seen it in bits and pieces. Aside from remembering Mouku's rivalry with Kaguya, and the alternative Mouku/Keine relationship, both of which I believe we've touched upon earlier, I think that's about it for what you need to know though.

@Memor-X I've been out of the loop, but to my recollection, Square-Enix is a little more conservative with the discounts than the other publishers so these deals will probably be relatively low for them. I'll pass this along to the Caves of Narshe fansite, if nobody else mentioned it.

@Tonepoet it got worse, after Adel you go for Ultimica's castle and when you first enter all your abilities are sealed. EVERYTHING! so all you can do is Attack, even junctioning is sealed. you have to unseal stuff by defeating all these optional bosses. there's one right in front of you but you have to be careful of which ability you unseal first

@ASCII-only I'd say try IX. I haven't played it myself but I always heard relatively good things about it, aside from the cartoony graphics complaints, but given how antiquated the game's original system was (Playstation 1), I'd say that stylized graphics would probably help to extend their shelf-life compared to the other Playstation Final Fantasy titles, esp. since it was the last Final Fantasy to come out on the system.

I'm not really sure how much better they've made it look for the P.C. Probably not too much.

@Tonepoet well after Adel Ellone shows up to implement Laguna's plan to use Riona to cause Time Compression so that Ultimica can be confronted. after a gauntlet battle with other sorceresses you end up at Ultimica's castle. you can get back to the overworld via these gates that are on the screen before the front door but the overworld is different

all the cities have a barrier preventing you from accessing them so you can only go into the Chocobo Forests, the place Odin is, Tear's Point and Fire Cavern (and i think the abandoned lab but i never been there in my first playthrough). you can find the Ragnarok after a fair bit of a hike and the Card Club Joker is on board and he acts as your shops

@Tonepoet if VIII is any indication, none at all

VIII looks the same on PC as it does on PlayStation

@ASCII-only i can vouch for IX, great game and plenty of stuff to do on the side like the Chocobo Hot & Cold minigames. each character is quite unique even to the point that both Garnet and Eiko are White Mage Summoners but have different Eidolons and unique White Magic Spells (though they both have the basics)

if you're looking to get Remake: Final Fantasy VII when it comes out i'd wouldn't bother playing VII until we find out if Square fucks up the remake

infact i'be been abstaining from it just because i am holding onto hope that it'll be the masterpeice we have been asking for

@Memor-X That's not quite entirely true. It's not like they completely remade the assets but you can see compared to the original Playstation version the characters look sharper or smoother with fewer jaggies. Nothing mind blowing but the difference is perceptible.

@Tonepoet huh, didn't notice that. given my Playstation Copy has a rooted Disk 1 which takes 45 minutes to transition from the white screen after the intro of new game to when Squall wakes up so i havn't played it in ages

@Memor-X Yeah, it's not a major difference because VII and VIII are really just a rerelease of an older P.C. hardcopy port that was published not so long after the original games. The difference with IX is that it was made more recently. I imagine that it's also a minimalist improvement, but more able to take advantage of the much stronger hardware we have these days than we did back in the day.

I still have a copy of Life Is Strange from Humble Monthly while I already bought the game a year ago in sale...

I was very tempting to buy FF back when I join Steam, but no longer.

Only bought 2 games in the entire series after checking the negative reviews

@nhahtdh Final Fantasy VI seems to have gotten some rather bad results in particular. Despite being higher resolution, the character sprites look soft and undefined, which is likely a result of pillow shading.
