The series Dagashi Kashi is like an advertise manga, it's promoted many snacks for children from japan. Are the mangaka getting paid for promoted all of those snack?
I mean did all of those snacks which appear in DagashiKashi series (manga and anime) have an agreement to advertise all of those s...
Some years ago, there were reports being over social networks and blogs that "a boy died after masturbating 42 times in a row".
For example: M24 Digital:
A 16-year-old boy died after masturbating 42 times without stopping in Rubiato town, in Goiás region, Brazil.
Is this story true? Is it ...
> I think I caught the meaning of the title of Aimer's ED. nine(9) = kyuu(9) lie = uso ninelie=kyuuso, which can also be written as 窮鼠 - a cornered rat. Which is what the characters are. That, and the lyrics of the song - from what I can make of them, are about abandoning hope and just fighting for your life between the walls of this savehold.
@Tonepoet she's generally fine it's just that recently her legs swell up when she's out of the house for a long time so even if she gets to put her feet up in the cinema she stil worries for when we're in the car or having to walk down the street
there's been talk of increasing average prices for games, music, movie tickets, discs and books (manga included)
people say games, phone games especially, have reached an incredibly low average prices, but the creators still have bills to pay and making all that stuff takes a pretty big professional crew
what do you guys think about htat
same goes for manga volumes and on-demand streaming payments
@Hakase I'm not really qualified to be making any assessments regarding the anime market here, but recollecting my past as a video game collector, there was a point in time where $10–20 would have been considered a relatively affordable price for a used video game, and new games would cost approximately $50. Now part of that was due to the costs associated with physical media, but that is of little practical importance to the buyers, so I think game devs. could get away with raising prices.
I also vaguely remember thatl anime used to cost about $30 for discs, which averaged around 4 episodes each, but almost nobody was buying at that price.
@Hakase lol, lets compare pc and console games to the trash market that is mobile. yeh there obviously isn't an ulterior motive for that
if that's the same brain dead stupid argument people make for microtransactions then lets us just be reminded that Take Two and EA have both said that they will still make tens of millions of dollars from their games being sold at $40-60 without micro-transactions
not to mention the AAA game industry is quite tight lipped about their fiances for how much their games cost to make and Ninja Theory used an "Indie" budget to make Hellblade: Setsuna's Sacrifice and they sell that for like $30
the mobile market has such low prices on average because of the amount of shit that's on there. top 10 grossing games on the app store includes Clash of Clans, Clash Royal and 8 Slot Machine games, all of which are free
@Memor-X Hmm, decades ago to be sure. Definitely before smartphones were even a thing, and possibly around the time cartridges were nearing the end of their lifespan?
I regret not buying Shantae for the Gameboy color when I had a chance. The game interested me, but I was reluctant, especially after hearing it was pretty bad from people I was chatting with online at the time. XP
@Tonepoet right, brand new for console Star Wars Battlefront 2 EA is ~$50 in EA Games, Harvey Norman and Oz game Shop and that's after an over 20% price drop
so the price actually hasn't changed really since then
remember that EA said to it's shareholders (which i think lying to them is a felony) that they would still profit millions even after the nightmare of a release and removal of microtransactions
@Memor-X Which suggests it's probably due for an increase, when you consider inflation and longer development cycles.
I'm assuming that the console versions come on disc still, so the physical media cost shouldn't be so different from say, a Playstation 2 game, or at least not much less anyway.
atleast the description says other versions and has Nintendo Reviews
> “...very seldom have we encountered a game that features this level of polish and refinement in virtually every facet...there's really not a single area of the game that won't wow you...quite possibly the best (money) you'll ever spend on a video game” 10/10 – Nintendo Life
Despite being heavily advertised by Capcom, Shantae didn't sell very well, so there weren't very many copies of the original produced, making it quite a rare game and with the recent surge in popularity the original cartridge is quite expensive.
@Memor-X They wouldn't, but these games were all available on Nintendo platforms.
Shantae: Risky's Revenge is a platform video game developed by WayForward Technologies for Nintendo DSi. The second installment in the Shantae series, Risky's Revenge is sequel to the Game Boy Color video game Shantae and is succeeded by the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U sequel Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, and the fourth installment Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. An iOS port was made and released on October 27, 2011 and features a new "Magic Mode". A Microsoft Windows version was released on June 15, 2014 as Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's Cut, featuring a re-imagined Warp System and the "Magic Mode...
@Memor-X So basically yes, that's why the Steam Storefront version has Director's Cut in the title, much like how Sonic Adventure DX came out for the gamecube, despite the original being a Dreamcast game.
@Memor-X Eeh, I wouldn't call it scalping, per se. It's much too late for that, and it's probably not as if the original copies were solely bought for the sole purpose of reselling. This is more akin to antique dealing. XP
Maybe if cheaper copies were readily available, I'd call it scalping, but they're not as far as I know. =\
Again, the original Shantae for the gameboy color simply wasn't produced in large quantities, due to poor sales. Really a shame I didn't get it, because it was probably better than many of the gameboy color games I did get.
I mean sure, Pokemon Gold was fun, but Azure Dreams was rather mediocre, and Yugioh Dark Duel Stories is somewhat lame.
@Memor-X I mean this point is being supported by 2 sides of the industry: the already super wealthy AAA corporations who churn out sports games for full price and with lots of microtransactions, and the indie devs who are unhappy to sell their pretty good games for a low low price of 10-15 usd, and when they try 20 or 25 (or god forbid 30) they get shit on by everyone, even though it's just under 1/2 of a "full-priced" game
so of course the greedy corporations would like to keep pushing this point of view, and there's been rumors (and actual cases) where they raise the prices of basically standard edition but with some extra cosmetics included by 10-20 dollars
you know, the "collector's edition" without an actual big box with lots of goodies in it
@Hakase Well, to be fair, there are thousands of competing games. If two games are otherwise equally attractive, of course you're going to prefer to buy the cheaper one.
I'd say you gotta make it look interesting from second 0 on the store page by A) showing very interesting static graphics and B) very interesting autoplaying gameplay video
I've once undertaken a task of browsing through all of the steam's titles roughly 2 years ago and most games have a 5-10-15-20 second intro where they only show the game's title, some text and the studio's logos
and most of the games I've seen I would never play
@Hakase Well yes, of course. Once you've narrowed down the list from the hundreds upon hundreds that may be considered at any time, to just the dozen or so games you are most interested in playing, you have probably considered everything else. Even if you have $20 to spare, you will probably get more value if you buy two of the $10 games instead.
Granted, that might not necessarily be so if the cheaper games are much shorter, but price is no guarantee of game length. Owlboy costs $25 on steam and I'd say it's a 10 or 15 hour game.
@Memor-X That's true I suppose. I mean by a single, normal playthrough though. You can't as reliably measure replay value, or how long it will take to collect all of the collectibles
@Gallifreyan Taisho posted this image with Sakuya earlier, and she's as real of a maid as you can get for a fictional character. Granted, she's no in her usual maid's attire there. I'm pretty sure I've shown an image of Sakuya in the past though, if not only in a group shot.
@Hakase I'm not so sure that should be considered a mitigating factor in cost comparisons though: One reason is that strictly speaking, full price comparisons suppose that people should be paying for it before ever playing, at whatever price is offered at that time. That additional cost is for the privilege of playing it before developers figure that they've made as much at full price as they possibly can.
Another is that the wait and see approach can be used for any game, and if we assume the same discounts, the cheaper games will remain cheaper.
Thus the matter becomes less so two ten dollar games versus one twenty dollar game, as it does four five dollar games compared to two ten dollar games, if we assume a 50% discount (and predicting which games get which discounts is impossible, so the only fair way to compare them is to assume the discount would be roughly the same.)
@Ave That's true, but the two concepts are very similar conceptually speaking. If somebody claims to make a prediction, and it fails to come to fruition, I think very many people would deny that anything had been predicted.
@Hakase I gave a thought about watching earlier at some point of this year, but the art style didn't really match a tone with me. I'm really picky about the visuals and stuff. So much, that I didn't even watch Cowboy Bebop even though it is stated as one the best animes ever created :<
oh man I remember watching Genshiken Nidaime and didn't understand shit but I just kept watching it hoping in one episode they will reintroduce the characters or something
turns out that was like season 3
there were 2 full seasons before and ovas
now I just don't wanna return to that whole title
zankyou no terror really reminded me of some other character pairing…
