00:00 - 16:0016:00 - 00:00

16:00
@Hakase hmm, that seems possible. I also suck with web but I might help with the part between taisho and the web thingy. @Quill might help with web part more.
I think I'll set him up to update google drive with the latest json.txt files and we could set up a github.io page or something where the magical web page would be
that's right − we need a steam onebox
Dutch is confusing
wonder how the arqade guys are living without it
I have landed and dunno how to bus
@ToshinouKyouko ever heard of "the flying dutchman"
16:08
@ton.yeung for me at least
@Hakase I have
one does not bus in <country name>
just fly already like normal people
I forgot what it's called :p
dutchland…
Its all burgers and spleins
ah that reminds me I gotta buy food
10
Q: Can we get oneboxing for Steam store pages?

MBraedleyI realize that this is pretty niche, and that pretty much the only users would be The Bridge, the primary chat room for Arqade, but it should be pretty straight forward to include the name of the game and a bit of the description in a onebox. The issue is that if a bare link is posted, there is ...

looks kinda ugly and it's completely client-side
@ToshinouKyouko i don't know how it works in the netherlands, but i can tell you how we do it in germany
we sit down on the street, while a few old people dance the maccarena
then, out of nowhere, a car appears, that is stopped, the old people jump on the car and lick the windshield
was it a sweet car?
16:14
after they are done, the car turns into a bus and because you waited patiently on the street you are allowed to choose one destination
@Hakase i'm too young to lick it, you have to be 70+
does it mean the fare cost is deducted from your pension fund?
@Hakase as far as i know, no. the old people are just helping conjuring the bus. and you pay with sitting on the street
oh so it must be the warming of the benches
@Armin I see..
Well, I should remember all the steps
@ToshinouKyouko could be different in the netherlands, i described the procedure in germany...
16:34
No old people :(
wow, this here is unexpectedly good: arstechnica.com/the-multiverse/2016/06/…
a movie written by an ai
@ToshinouKyouko where are no old people? the netherlands?
@ToshinouKyouko according to wikipedia ca 6% of the female dutch population and ca 3.5% of the male population are 70+
should be enough for at least one person of 70+ years on each bus stop

1 hour later…
17:54
@ton.yeung huh?

Q: In Black Butler, whose drugs are actually being kept in the storehouse?

Stephen_Film_GuyIn the anime Black Butler, ep. 2 entitled 'His Butler, Strongest', whose drugs are being kept in the storehouse? Are they actually Azzurro's drugs, or are they someone else's and he just wants to get his hands on them to sell them.

weird style
interesting
@Hakase this is both beautiful and terrible
beautiful style, terrible fit for anime style.
can someone tell me how to open all danbooru images on the page in new tabs?
I'm very new to js and idk what to look for
basically I need to add a button to the page which would do the opening on click
I found the part for adding buttons, but not the magic trick with tabs
18:46
oh god scratchpad sets multiple carets at any positions
I thought everything broke
I just had ctrl stuck
ok this script I'll make some other time

2 hours later…
20:42
20:54
@Hakase lol
21:14
@Hakase i thought the last paragraph was especially nice xD
@Hakase I saw that as an anime girl using drugs. I really need to sleep.
Do people lose the rep they have gotten when id requests they have answered are deleted?
if they get deleted yeah
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ @JNat @ToshinouKyouko do we lost rep for the deleted id reqs?
22:13
check your rep history, view by posts
if you lost any, there will be "-xxx rep coz posts deleted"
but because most questions and answers were upvoted enough, they didn't
it doesnt look like i lost any but i coudlve sworn i had like 20+ more pts
I think there is a daily rep recalc and it will add notifications about rep difference
hmm i lost about 100 rep from yesterday to today so I guess ill look through and see
can you just take a look at your own answers and see if any of them are deleted?
or do they even show up if they're deleted?
so far I have looked through my posts and nothing is saying deleted
but I know in the past that I did answer a few id requests
22:17
maybe posts deleted by users with elevated rights are not displayed
or maybe all of your answers got upvoted below the deletion threshold
I know I got hella upvotes for nothing each time
that could be true
jesus christ how long will it take them to fix the rep graph

Q: Off-by-one bug in reputation graph legend

Martin HöllerOn the user's profile page there is the "reputation" tab which shows a chart with all reputation changes. Selecting a smaller area on this chart shows the selection in more detail in a second chart above. Clicking bars on this chart should display the reputation changes a text in a list below the...

Q: Reputation for graph is off by a day

UNIMATRIX 424 GRID 116So when we view reputation, there is graph view. However, it seems to be off by a day. Here's what I mean: I'm sure 70 + 20 + 15 is not 15. Its 105, which is what we see below: And 40 + 10 is NOT 105, unless you did this :) Anyways 40 + 10 is 50: So yeah. Did you do what that post on co...

@Frosteeze Well, there is are tentative, not at all fleshed out plans, for one: Start a bounty event where, I, the instigator of this offer a site wide bounty on unanswered questions. For every 3 question score (up and down) on an unanswered question (by a set day, up to some cap), I will award 50 rep. If it gets accepted after being answer or receives at least a silver answer badge, I will double the rep bountied, up to 500 rep. Bounty bid continues until the set date or until I run out of rep.
im not really sure how that's going to recover the guys who got their id req points disappear lol
22:30
testing slack style custom emojis :)
umaru <3
@Frosteeze I fell to 198 :(
it loads if I open it in a separate tab but not in chat
It is no longer displayed in the thing that shows 200+ rep websites :(
@ardaozkal didnt you had 1K or something?
22:32
@Hakase It uses github websites (to allow pull requests), that was just a screenshot, repo is at github.com/ardaozkal/ardaozkal.github.io/tree/master/custommoji
@Frosteeze there's not really much we can do about lost rep, but make an opportunity to regain rep easier
@Frosteeze I have ~6.5k on Arqade
@ardaozkal no i mean on here
Nope, I don't :(
22:33
there's still a backlog of unanswered question that could use a turnabout. incentivizing with rep it is the best we can do apart from cash and prizes
I'll go on an animestreak this summer though, might get to 1k+ easily.
@ardaozkal I meant the 0ws link replacer
I added the img.src replacement in addition to a.href
@Hakase oh. Give me a min
already done
function unthumbnailChildLinks (node) {
    if (node.nodeType !== Node.ELEMENT_NODE)
       return;

    var links = node.getElementsByTagName('a');

    [].forEach.call(links, function (a) {
        a.href = a.href.replace('https://0ws.pw/', 'http://ardao.me/ows/');
        a.href = a.href.replace('http://0ws.pw/', 'http://ardao.me/ows/');
    });

    var srcs = node.getElementsByTagName('img');

    [].forEach.call(srcs, function (b) {
        b.src = b.src.replace('https://0ws.pw/', 'http://ardao.me/ows/');
innerHTML
22:35
it works
@Hakase updated script, thanks
(while I'm still working on it, I just posted it here, enjoy. warning: I'm new to JS)
what's our average answers per day like here?
I need 192 more rep to answer that :p
@ardaozkal the file name needs to end in .user.js for the userscript clients to pick it up
@Quill ah, I was wondering why greasemonkey wasn't picking it up. I have .user.js on most my old userscripts tho, dunno how I missed that.
22:49
wait so that js, it's gonna allow custom emojis in this chatroom?
but everyone would need to get that js right?
Yes, yes
sounds inconvenient :P
I originally made a chat app like that. From scratch.
I have a thing for emojis.
I hate emojis
I encourage people to get creative with unicode tho, but not to zalgo extent
What about animojis? %umaru%
22:51
i like the old kind of emojis
anything animated is hated by me
distracting as all hell
_/( ' _ ' )_/
well yeah
_( o _ o )_/
( == _ == )
your thing like lagged out my page <_<
22:53
rofl
Yes, that is intended.
To show everyone why emojis are bad
NYAHAHHAH (leave an issue report and I'll look at it tomorrow)
you didn't make image loading async?
it just converts the commands to <img> tags
ye but the img also has to be gotten right away?
or maybe the script is just slow
My implementation is slow
I shouldn't check so agressively
22:56
I'm just sitting here thinking just how much I hate emojis
oh man that thought distracts me
I do something similar in a few userscripts, the trick is to assign a class to the message element once it's been processed for the first time: github.com/The-Quill/SE-Chat-Oneboxer/blob/master/…
also the enter key and send button are borken when it's enabled
@Quill oh, I see. Will implement something like that tomorrow.
Also it works fine on FF, no lag, no issues with enter and send
I might make a PR later if I get time
hey @ʞɹɐzǝɹ do you have any stats available on our answers per day rate
my SEDE skills aren't great
23:03
@Quill I'll try my besy
@Quill you don't need to use the SEDE, just go here: stackexchange.com/sites#culturerecreation-traffic
that's not answers per day though
just a quick fork
ran the .csv through excel -> 9.04 in last 100 days
yeah, I saw that earlier. I'm looking for an average
As I said, 9.04 in last 100 days
9.896 on last 1000 days
9.755520505 since the beginning.
23:13
yo how come we ain't got a blog?
My guestimation says 152 days worth of answering at our current rate to clear the unanswered qs + new questions for each of those said days
but do people even read the site blogs?
@Hakase not really
@Hakase SE's blog engine sucks
@Quill there are many unanswerable questions
@Hakase they should get closed
23:14
in a theoretical world where we can answer every question
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ I mean they aren't closable either
@Hakase can you give an example?
we could go through the unanswered questions, from the oldest to newest
@Hakase if you feel like that will best illustrate your point then we can start now
23:19
lol noscript's security thingy considered that an XSS
oh wow idk a lot of those animes
@ardaozkal because of the nines?
idk
nah, src
I got page size 50 but idk what the default is, so I just put in 999 to get the last page with the oldest posts
[NoScript InjectionChecker] HTML injection:

Q: Tomiko's "new exercise" for Saki

Arturia PendragonShortly after Tomiko defended Saki in court, Tomiko escorted Saki to the pier where she would set off. Tomiko mentioned that after Saki's return, she would be given a "new exercise" for her Cantus, which allegedly would be more interesting than routine classroom exercises. What was that exercise?

23:21
I got community feedback on a blog for Code Review a while ago and the consensus seemed A) hard to find people who contribute B) Blog Overflow sucks: meta.codereview.stackexchange.com/q/6659/62429
that might simply have been a "when you get back (after you go away never to return) we'll do something special" and obviously there was no intention for anything special to happen in the first place
@Quill I want to send a CodeReview for an arduino project. What should I read before posting?
looking for more questions I could know something about
@ardaozkal it should be fine as A) the code works B) it's not incomplete or missing parts of it in the post C) the code isn't hypothetical
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/6126/… this one senshin hasn't answered properly but it has an answer as his comment
@senshin would you mind posting that as an answer?
23:23
@Quill what should a good title be?
whatever your code does

Q: How does the dummy-pulled cart work?

JNatYaichirou has been seen running a cart more than once during the series. It is pulled by a sort of dummy that runs like crazy, with its legs going back and forth. How exactly does this cart work? Is there any source that explains this? Also, does it belong to Yaichirou, or the Shimogamo fam...

@JNat you still interested in that? :p

Q: Why does the god in Kyousougiga take that appearance?

ton.yeungIn the final episode of Kyousougiga, why does god look like this?

this one is basically answered in a comment
I see the pattern here
those are just the ones I know something about
there are other types of unanswerable ones
2
Q: What's up with Vincent Bold speeding like crazy?

HakaseVincent Bold and Pico Norton's childhood friend died in a car-related accident (not sure how though). Since then, they both changed and became more determined to become astronauts. However, Vincent keeps blazing through the roads in his car and always breaking the speed limit, while he keeps rep...

I assumed it was something psychological, a thing for this character to speed despite knowing of the consequences of it
23:29
the unanswerable ones usually ask for some kind of social context behind an action, which is usually unexplainable by the primilarily non-japanese userbase of Anime.SE
but who's got a canonical answer to that?
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/8785/… this for example I think can be answered if somebody researches the airing schedule and circumstances of production
we could either A) not care about those kinda questions (every site has them) or B) have a close reason for questions about behaviour that's unexplainable without knowing the impossible

Q: Is there any significance to the comment on madeleines?

MaroonTowards the end of the last episode of Serial Experiments Lain, we see Lain have a brief conversation with her father. At the end of it, her father says: Lain, I'll make us some nice tea next time. Hey, with some madeleines! Definitely. They're great! This seems to be a reference to Marcel ...

idk what's that about but I think it would be hard to answer canonically

Q: How many different mental states of Banri are there in Golden Time?

MindwinIt is more of a list of the different mental states of Banri and the mental states he is experiencing. So, please correct me and expand the list. I will follow this model: "name". When he appears. What memories he has. Whether he is a stable or temporary state of mind. Pre-accident Banri...

this is just opinion based I think
3
Q: When did Koko's mirror end up in Banri's stuff?

MindwinSpoilers for the ending of Golden Time: Is that shown? If it is, in what episode?

who cares, man?
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/14661/… answered in comments I think
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/13993/… it's probably a romantic (mysterious/shy girl) thing
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/17045/brain-flour-and-fairies this is just a funny non-canon episode, I think I was just grabbing rep any way I could back then
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/15511/… are we even allowing such questions? isn't that opinion based currently?
I get that the styles can be distinct enough to tell them apart by certain features, but does it really matter
23:39
sounds like it's time for a meta post
indeed
if you guys think so
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/14983/… @Memor-X do you remember if it was the subtitles or the original lines?
ok but with questions like this one anime.stackexchange.com/questions/14952/… can we really close them for not having an answer just because nobody has come across that one rare interview where the creators answer it, but it didn't get a lot of popularity, so it exists, but just not seen by any of our users?
I say open until answered, not closed
I guess we could outright delete very old unanswered questions, but why? just to boost the answered percentage? doesn't sound valid
or do we have to standardize "importance" and enforce some subjective threshold
I don't think the situation is that bad yet
@Hakase I think we should keep the unanswered questions
just in case something happens and an answer comes up
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/19904/… I think I answered it in the comment but who knows
@Angelplayer me too
if we start enforcing importance thresholds, I'm afraid most of the questions would be under it because the site is largely about entertainment, which is hard to call important
this anime.stackexchange.com/questions/19219/… would be right out then?
dammit
I forgot to eat
Just cooked aand I only have 20 mins to eat
I could argue about importance of this anime.stackexchange.com/questions/18901/…
we have a number of "character references something/somebody" questions anime.stackexchange.com/questions/18639/…
@Hakase I think setting the rules of what's "important" and what's not could be confusing
yea
23:50
plus it's easy for that to become opinion-based
for example anime.stackexchange.com/questions/18470/… idk maybe it could, maybe it couldn't
if we haven't gotten an answer yet, it doesn't mean there isn't one
but that aside, do we want to have an answer to that question?
how to determine the importance?
from the minor things that might seem important enough to keep, I think cultural things and historical events should be protected
but the questions like "what if I ate Death Note" should just be deleted because I don't really like the series
I'd say most what-ifs are subject to closure
if they don't talk about the events possible within the canon plotline
but you could always argue that anything could have happened at one point or another when characters try desperate things and go for something unexpected, like for example (oh god) eating a death note!
so idk how to enforce that objectively
We should take some time, I don't know if enforcing this immediately after closing down "id-requests" would be very popular with users
anime.stackexchange.com/questions/18352/… because he was naked and the guy at least had some shirt to cover his privates with, and he was kind enough to share
we're already poor with rep, there's no way we'll get "adult" rep requirements anytime in the next year or two
don't do it for the rep, do it for the fun
and if there aren't any interesting questions to ask or answer, well, that's the reality then
23:58
right
off topic: do you have any experience developing with the bots in this room?
take a look at other topics that SE sites cover, and you'll find something to satiate your rep-hungry beast with
I made Taisho but only the logic part
