@Hakase Doesn't make much sense to me. The current tag system works equally well for all types of questions. Changing it to be based on continuities is preferentially treating story questions different from other questions about a franchise, when in reality these are a minority for most series.
Well in any case it doesn't affect me very much since I'm ignoring all the tags that are likely to have this done. I'll need to add a bunch of new tags to my ignore list, but that's only a moderate inconvenience.
What is going to be very bad is the amount of effort required to retag almost every new incoming question in these series, since the vast majority of new users won't get it right. I just hope this doesn't lower the overall quality of the site including smaller tags. Big tags right now are mostly really bad, and this is only going to make it worse.
Also I really feel like this whole thing is blown out of proportion. The case people whine about the most is FMA, but when I browsed through the questions a while ago, only like 15-20% of the questions were brotherhood/2003 exclusive, which means for any given search, only about 8-10% of what you get is noise.
what I'm saying is it has become evident that there is a lot of fuss about all of FMA being under one tag, and now we're running an experiment that will show if separating the two versions will satisfy people more

It's already made more work for me, now I have to add like 5 new tags to my ignore list. So count 1 user unsatisfied.
But honestly, I don't care if you guys ruin Dragon Ball or FMA on the site. Those tags are pretty terrible anyway, and the series are bad too. But if you start trying to ruin Aria or Idolmaster, I won't take that sitting down.

I guess high-rep users should have a privilege to not bump edited posts but I think it's been discussed before and is undesirable because other users might miss potentially bad edits
Well whatever, all I'm saying is that it's stupid and I'm not okay with splitting up the tags I care about. But if you want to split up dragon-ball because the second part of the anime happens to have a Z, I really don't care as long as you don't do the same for shows which we're actually doing a good job with (e.g. Ro-Kyu-Bu and Ro-Kyu-Bu SS)

@PratyushManocha It was decided a long time ago to get rid of the DBZ tag and have only one DB tag. I don't know about more recent decisions, but if there was a decision made to reverse that, it was a bad one.
