Edit spammers, for whatever reason, tend to target a rather small fraction of all posts network-wide. I suspect it's just easier to optimize on their end.

That is presumably one of the posts that they're targeting.

It's not really an issue, since those edits are always going to be rejected on sight.

Just makes it easier on SE's end to identify and study the spam, so it's really a good thing.

When I'm translating JA->EN, I have to first figure out the meaning of everything in Japanese, and then figure out how best to phrase that in English.

If I try to translate individual words into English and reconstruct the sentence in English, it ends up garbled nonsense and leaves me more confused.

Ideally, if you're translating A -> B, you need to be fluent in A. You should understand every aspect of the text in language A without a need to look anything up. For language B, you don't need to be so good, just good enough to have a way to write everything down.

Anyway, I had a "language" that I was working on in middle/high school. It had vocabulary and syntax, but none of the words had any meaning. I also looked up some statistics related to word frequencies and applied similar concepts. But like I said, no way to communicate anything in the language, only to analyze whether a given text is written in said language.
