No really though, in the USA, there are laws to restrict from streaming and downloading copyrighted material and such. But privacy laws have priority as it is included in the Bill of Rights. Thus downloading what is normally considered "illegal content" from a "private" server isn't actually illegal.

@krikara In certain cases it is implicitly included as part of the 9th amendment. However, there are relatively few cases related to internet privacy, and the courts have typically ruled against internet privacy in most cases.

In any case, privacy rights aren't strong enough to supersede all of IP law. To give an example, there were even a couple of cases in the era of VCRs where IP rights holders successfully prosecuted people for sharing physical copies of videos.

IG-88 is by far the most confusing hat I've seen. The people who got it varied from 150 rep users with tons of suggested edits, to people with a bunch of reviews, to people with tons of rep but almost no activity. I thought it might be connected to something invisible like flags, but it's definitely not downvotes because I found people who had it with no downvotes, definitely not upvotes because I had plenty of upvotes, not flags because some people with it didn't have any flag hats.

At this point I'm totally stumped. Anyone know anything or have any ideas?

looking at the Area 51 Proposals that have been closed down i don't understand why those in the Commit phase get closed after a year, the Definition phase requires example questions and followers and unlike Commitments you can follow any number of proposals so it's understandable if these get shut down after a year but the Commit Phase however requires commitments and you only get 3 to use, sure you can swap them around but that's besides the point

if people are like me they put their commits into proposals that have a chance of starting up soon which means you may have proposals which could be very successful however end up being closed because the people who would support don't have the commits anymore.....ofcause that's my opinion, i juts don't understand why you close something down when what's used to determin if it will be successful is limited
