ok
who's the girl with Kiki?
@Avery could be localized censorship, probably illegal under turkish laws or something

@Hakase I was on US vpn
also no, that's legal under turkish laws
though yeni akit disagrees

8:13 PM

fuck everything
also I lost my flag lmaiko
nope found it
I expect protests
and I expect days off school I guess.
I'm furious
like
I feel like throwing stuff around and that's not fine
even though the thing is quite non-breaky and plastic and wouldn't cause any damage

It's the same trick Russia pulled off with its anti-gay-propaganda law

now this and tomorrow they'll revoke our driving licenses
and in a week they'll ban the whole everything

Because they can make anything remotely connected to LGBTQAwhatever+ fit to their "gay propaganda" definition, effectively anything can be done
@Avery I believe there was a bill in Russia to ban trans people from having driving licences.

yes that was what I was referencing

8:25 PM
@TimE.Lord lolwut? why?

@Abyx Idk, I didn't follow it closely

@Abyx oppression.
that's why.

there had to be a reason

oppression is a valid reason
like
we do pride events everytime and nothing happens
but suddenly they're banned for "security".
so
official reason is "security" for this, but that's not the real reason
real reason is oppression
silencing
destroying representation
erasure

why not, Turkey is a Muslim country

8:30 PM
yeah and russia isn't
don't put all the hate on religion

yep hence my question
Russia should have a different reason

Not at all, it's effectively the same
Rooted in "culture and morals" and supported by the Russian Orthodox Church™️

see
I am losing it rn
and this is exactly why they're doing it
to make us not feel safe

oh well that "Russian law forbidding driving for trans people" is a fake news. The actual law forbids only cases with "severe symptoms of illness".

8:40 PM
they still ban trans people from driving though.

@Avery nope
also it doesn't say "trans people". the law says "F60 - F69 ICD-10"

ugh

The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision (ICD-10) is a coding of diseases and signs, symptoms, abnormal findings, complaints, social circumstances and external causes of injury or diseases, as classified by the World Health Organization (WHO). This page contains ICD-10 Chapter V: Mental and behavioural disorders. The ICD is actually the official mental health system for the US, but even many professionals do not realize this due to the dominance of the DSM. The WHO made chapter V available in different versions: "Clinical descriptions and...
welp, (F64.0) Transsexualism
but anyways, there should be "severe symptoms of illness" which actually prevent driving

yeah I just opened my copy of dsm

probably that means that a person takes some kind of medication which prevents driving.

8:44 PM
there are 5 main meds
none prevent driving.

dunno, not a medic
anyways, I see no issue here. Medical commission decides whether the person can drive or not.

see
on paper it might sound innocent
but in practice they can, will and probably are using it to oppress minorities that CAN drive.

meh. if a person is so stupid that being a trans is in their medical documents - then they probably shuldn't drive.

Wossat mean?

@Abyx legal diagnosis is usually required for supplying meds legally, you know.

8:50 PM
do you know how those medical commissions work? you come there and they ask you - "are you all right?" - you say "I'm good" and that's it
well if you're taking meds then you shouldn't drive

there are people who take meds that don't affect their driving abilities one bit.
hrt is one of those meds.
like

well then you can drive

you can't expect people to not drive for taking aspirin for headache and stuff

do you even know of any case when this law was actually abused?

I do not, though I don't think that I can find a few by asking around.
However I am not in mood for that.

8:55 PM
right, why care

This website (in Russian) claims no ban was actually introduced and that the new law changed nothing

I asked a friend, she'll ask around.

9:31 PM
@Gao what's this?

@TimE.Lord obvious user edit

not necessarily
it could be that some character is commonly referred to as a "bloke"
in Merlin
which is either a movie, a play or a novel

He wasn't in Merlin the TV show

9:57 PM
@Hakase ^ i've seen that and i don't recall his face

Colin Morgan is in it, and some may say they look alike

at the very least a proper edit has Merlin linked to what it's talking about

it's the latest edit
from today or so

10:00 PM
@Hakase yeh and that doesn't chnage the user is an idiot
> Jack the Giant Slayer premiered on February 26, 2013 in Hollywood and was released theatrically in the United States on March 1, 2013 in 2D and 3D. The film received mixed reviews from critics and is considered a box office failure, losing between $125 million and $140 million for Legendary Pictures. Jack the Giant Slayer was released on home media on June 18, 2013.

He was also Merlin

a Movie is a He and also stared in Merlin?

no idea, not interested in this anymore
I looked up the edits from my ip address and found 3
1 to add an xml comment about 404 links and 2 talk page edits to add some info on dead links
2010 was the last year I edited anything for wikipedia

it's on my read list
as is a shitton of other 8+ mangas without animation
> I'm 19 and a little girl called me sir
huh
we don't have a "mister" or "sir" in russian
usually strangers call out to others as "young man" (literally young human) or "young woman" (girl is the closest word in english)
adult men are called with a word which literally translates to english as "man"

@Hakase Fräulein is the word you need for the latter

and it's super unusual for kids to call adult men that
@TimE.Lord it's not like "madam"
usually people say "woman"
literary translation into english is usually "lady" but the literal translation is "woman"

10:15 PM
Fräulein is an unmarried woman

@Hakase s/young woman/shojo/

"miss" then?

Exactly

this married/unmarried thing doesn't have an equivalent in russian
I wonder what's the deal with it in english and related languages

42
Q: Why is "Fräulein" considered offensive, as opposed to "Frau"?

DominiqueDoes Fräulein imply that the woman being addressed is not fully a Frau? Does it imply a lower class status?

Oh crap
My world has been put upside down

10:24 PM
interesting
but I'm not planning on ever speaking or reading german
or any european language besides english

Why?

just not in my plans
I used to think I'll learn some more languages sometime for work or for fun, and I'd start with french, german and japanese, but through the years I realized it's not fun and I don't need to
the idea of moving to another country, somewhere in europe, to live and work there… it just doesn't look attractive at the moment
I'd have to worry about so much

@Hakase depend on why you need it. personally for japanese it's just so i can have access to a much larger library of anime, manga, light novels and games

What about Asia?

after all if i learned Japanese i'd be playing all of the Sono Hanabira games, not just the translated ones

10:28 PM
@Memor-X I guess but I'd hope the really good ones will be translated anyway
@TimE.Lord what about it?
same deal
except it's much worse for a european-looking person to live there
or imagine living in africa
I'd stick out in the crowd as an obvious foreigner
at least in europe I'd not obviously look out of place

*looks up Yuri Project progress on Maidens of Michael on VNDB*....wait, THERE'S A MANGAGAMER LINK!

but on top of that, it's a little bit more effort to learn the asian language structure as opposed to european

If you already speak English, sure

> 2017 ANNOUNCEMENT
oh come on, don't tease me here

But you have the advantage of already speaking at least two languages, not so close to each other

10:31 PM
give me some sorta date for release

sentence structure in russian and english is veeery similar

you know this is how i'll be

japanese and french are more alike imo

(unfortunately I didn't give a shit at school about learning the words for different parts of speech in neither russian nor english so idk how they're called, and so I can't give an example :p)

10:33 PM
AFAIK, Czech is easy to learn for someone who speaks Russian (source: Day Watch by Lukyanenko :D)

ye my friends learned it in under 2 months to pass the exam and moved there permanently to work in chem industry and get a second education
I've visited with them for a week, it was just another country, nothing radically different

See? Easy.
Polish should not be too difficult

except I didn't have to speak to anyone :p

Though I can't understand anything in Polish

10:40 PM
Yep
Challenge accepted
Hungarian it is

ugh 11:40
I'm not accepting the challenge of watching that :p

@Hakase so many comments on someone hating gay pride parades. they're bloody more festive than Army Marchers. "We're this kind of person and proud of it" VS "We won by killing the most people"

it's fun to replace the keywords to something different and see if you can still agree with the statement
@ento ey watup
I see you peek in at random times, but you don't talk here
do you just browse our starred images?

this is one of my favorite rooms :) and I press "rejoin all favorite rooms" at random times

ah
you don't have much activity in general on any site, as far as I can see stackexchange.com/users/10653/ento?tab=activity

10:54 PM
@ento yay, we're favorited. we feel loved

is Japanese.SE so slow that it's okay?
we're pretty low activity here too, so a couple mods could lay back and do nothing and it wouldn't really cause trouble for others
but still I'd say we have more activity here like closing id requests at least once a day
ja.stackoverflow.com/users?tab=moderators you've been assigned in 2014
from the rep I'm guessing there's not much to do in terms of regular activity

yea I'm a pro tem mod for ja.so - and lately I've been falling back more to the role of a human exception handler

interesting

but, intending to pop into chat more often. (ja.so's chat hasn't had a lot going on since the early days)

well, if you'd like some anime recommendations, we're always here
and we talk on any random topics here too

11:06 PM
recs: arigato! it turns out that this season, nearly all my weekly watches are on weekends. now with just kujira left this week

yea I couldn't google that one up :D
what is kujira

@Memor-X yes!

oh but it's not finished airing yet
there's no way I'm gonna be able to live peacefully waiting for the next episodes

so you generally don't watch currently airing ones? :)

11:13 PM
nope
I still have a lot of old series to see
the watchlist never ends

@ento the wait is a pain

and then there's also manga and other things to do, so it truly never gets to the point where I have nothing to watch/read and have to wait for the next episode/chapter to come out

also with anime it's safer imo to wait for it to end and see the final rating than to get in at the start and only with everybody else who's watching learn that the show didn't go anywhere and the plot/characters all sucked
ratings can change down to -1 or -1.5 points in extreme cases
dayum
shen needs to stop taking it so seriously

yea I can see that. in my case, I don't consume other forms of entertainment much. I spend the rest of my non-work free time reading books for learning stuff and coding

11:19 PM
whatever works for you

yay

I wonder how twitter bullying or online harrassment works
I guess I haven't experienced it yet but on huge platforms without segregation like twitter or tumblr idk how it would work

11:39 PM
@Earl heyo
u r Early today :з

I'm Early everyday x3

Gao
@Memor-X some girl in saki saying "I want YOU" to another girl

not sure if it was posted here before

@Gao the mahjong anime?

11:44 PM
@Gao shoujo ai/yuri subtext in Saki, how can i not read that as anything but a confession
@EarlGrey apparently going by the posts around it

what?

note to self, first google result of "wikipedia saki" is not the manga
@EarlGrey the original post i replied to, around it @Unihedron and @Gao was talking about Saki

@Memor-X that's why you google saki anime or saki manga

Saki is the mahjong anime
@EarlGrey the latter would have worked because that was the second result

but the first result for me is manga tho
@Taisho who

@EarlGrey ^ that's what i got
shut up about the tabs

you shouldn't open that many tabs :/

@Taisho only google image would return artstation...
