(why did I say whom)
@Hakase that's because you don't want to properly learn things
@Hakase Because society as a whole (though it varies depending on the country) doesn't value teachers.
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ define proper learning
@Yuuki so they become krazy?
Thus, people who may be good teachers take other jobs because they're more lucrative and garner more respect.
@yuki ive never herd that saying, but ive definitely seen the attitude.
22:01
@shaggy I've heard it often enough
@Hakase making effort to do stuff
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ I hope you know what I'm talking about here
@Hakase you should teach me properly the meaning
some teachers are so fixated on their studies, they think it's the only important thing in the world
@Hakase that's right, it's their life
22:02
well, it's their life, yes, not the kids' they're teaching
i love the conversation pieces that go on in here. i learn a lot from you all. the 'friendship' is a nice feature as well.
@Hakase Again, this is because teaching is not a valued occupation. Research universities, which tend to get the most money, place more value on research.
@Hakase yup that's also true
ppl don't realize everyone is different
@Yuuki places like universities have other kinds of bad teachers
One problem that I've seen is that a bad education system at low levels is self-perpetuating. If the teachers don't do a good job, smart people realize this quickly, and are turned off from that as an occupation.
22:03
each system has their own set of rules
you can to play the game by their rules if you wanna advance
too bad those rules rarely change with the time
@ton.yeung dis is wat I've been waiting for
the only thing i may add is this- as far as the public schooling system ive seen in the USA, their main issue, is how and why it is taught. rather than a quality education their primary teaching goal is for kids to pass a standardized test, rather than fully being acknowledgeable and understand how to use such knowledge, kids are learning for the sole purpose to only be able to pass a certain kind of test in a certain format, no?
that's the same problem in many other countries
im sure.
it's not really the teachers that are at fault but the system
i just say the USA cause ive had personal experience with that particular system
22:06
imgur.com/gallery/anWTNQE − comments to this post say there are easy paths, but not everyone wants to walk them (or knows of them even)
uhh… I lost my train of thought
@shaggy same going on in Russia
well to be honest i have seen certain teachers who have took it upon themselves to teach outside of the standard curriculum. or in their own way. which can be good in some ways, and more practical for life, but then the students in said class end up doing poorly on the standardized test.. failing or having remedial courses.. etc
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that search results for "what they don't teach at schools" have pretty decent lists of things you'd benefit from knowing
@ton.yeung as I said this is exactly what I've been waiting for
@Hakase i got a book you'd like
off topic: if each one of you had to pick only one anime series to last you and watch the rest of your lifetime what would it be? gun to your head... GO!
Gintama
it never ends and is really funny
22:11
@shaggy S-s-seitokai Yakuindomo?
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ (waiting for the book like a good little hakase)
@shaggy One show is too easy, there are plenty that would work. Try one episode.
For me, I'd say Nisemonogatari episode 8.
@LoganM toothbrush?
naturally
22:14
ye ok I agree
@shaggy same as Logan
@FRO i figured some ppl would go with lengthier series
@Yuuki i like how you answered that
@LoganM i suppose your right about that. hmm, also i havent gotten that far in monogatari yet. now im excited.
man one episode is hard for me.
as a whole series I'd pick Madoka
^^ yeah thats what i was thinking
or yamato 2119
never watched and I think never will
Madoka doesn't have enough comedy for me to watch for the rest of my life.
22:18
@Yuuki has a point. there must be comedy
@Hakase why?????
I'd probably pick Aria for a full show, but I'd also be fine with HS DxD or Idolmaster.
@shaggy art style looks bad to me, I don't usually watch anything that looks like that
maybe love hina for the series. comedy. but not enough action now.. hmm
it turns out to be so not good for me
why does it have to have comedy?
1 min ago, by Yuuki
Madoka doesn't have enough comedy for me to watch for the rest of my life.
22:19
there are plenty fun things out there outside anime
I'm sorry, but I like to laugh.
@Hakase ahh i see, and thats understandable, im usually not into that style as much either. but the new redone one, is good. you should give it a shot man
I'd get bored of Meguka after watching it more than 2 or 3 times.
you have to laugh man. its the best medicine
ok my second choice would be Mushishi and third Kill la Kill
22:20
@Hakase I thought we were assuming that you pick one anime series as your sole form of entertainment for the rest of your life.
@Yuuki oh like that…
If we can have other entertainment as well... yeah, still SYD.
or maybe ranma 1/2.. ugh im horrible at decisions
If that's the correct interpretation, I'd definitely choose im@s.
@shaggy not a lot of medical help would laughin be in a world with nothing but a single anime series for entertainment
22:21
if i were to pick one anime series as my sole of entertainment for the rest of my current life and the next, it would be Cory in the House
haha weeabo
@Hakase its better than nothing.. haha but honestly i hadent thought out all the parameters/interpretation fully. if it was the sole source of entertainment or just sole anime
@Frosteeze Never heard of it.
Cory in the House is a television show, which aired on the Disney Channel from January 12, 2007 to September 13, 2008 and was a spin-off from the Disney show That's So Raven. The show focuses on Cory Baxter, who moves from San Francisco, California to Washington, D.C. with his father, after Victor Baxter gets a new job in the White House as the official head chef. The series marks a Disney Channel first, as it is the channel's first spin-off. This is also the only Disney Channel spin-off series to be broadcast in standard definition for the entire length of the show. Reruns of the series have not...
22:25
@Yuuki It doesn't even seem like there's a full DVD release of the series.
At that point, I'm not sure it can be called an anime at all.
@Hakase im sure you are, but you are aware that there was a remade yamato that screened in 2012, aired same time as attack on titan in 13'
that animation isnt thattt bad
idk i think it was good. there were some problems with logic and what not. but i was just a fan of the original 70s movies. so the remake 2119 was enjoyable for me
I'm not talking about the animation quality, I'm talking about the art style and what it almost always means
it's like when you see a shoujo manga, you know it's a shoujo manga
i know.
@Taisho I should be doing this now
ima try and atleast get through the rest of bakemonogatari.. its so frusterating. i hate series i cant marathon. hah
22:32
do you pause at every text frame to read everything?
hahah. im not even going to answer that
i was....
i felt like i had too.
of course you did
the series isn't the same without it
100% experience
gotta find all sikrets
okay well atleast(unless sarcasm) thats good to hear. i felt like i was the only one.
lol
thats how i feel, it was put there for a reason.
haha
22:35
I almost bought a wireless keyboard just to pause all the time
but then I remembered I had a netbook and teamviewered into my desktop to do the pausing and frame skipping
whats teamviewered? like remote desktop?
and now I have a wireless gamepad for which I found an app that bind any key combos to buttons
yes
ahh macros. sweet
@shaggy A lot of the text is lifted directly from the novels, so it may be redundant to read it if you've read those.
I'd like to talk more but my head will hate me tomorrow if I stay up now
night!
22:38
@LoganM thats a valid point. sometimes i still believe theres secrets in there, or something that wasnt included in the manga
guten nacht @Hakase
22:54
Harvard business school can be summed up to this:
- Have rich parents
- Do not have poor parents
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Collection of all the world's knowledge in two books?
@Yuuki no, blatant plagiarism tautology
23:17
basically
@Taisho I am really wanting the remake of this game to be localized and hopefully functionality for it to work with Ar no Surge wasn't removed during localization.
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ i wouldn't say best because i haven't played any of the Triangle Heart Games because they aren't in English or seen any of their OVAs/Manga or whatever. should really hunt down the OVAs at least so i can have first hand knowledge from obsovations
star list seems to have started overlapping the images.
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ nice, i got Type-Moon Fes 10 images to use as posters now. though some of those images make Arturia look like Shielder's original design as the Stray Servant
@LoganM pix pls
@LoganM i'm only getting this seeminly overlapping with this, can be fixed with smaller margins and ensuring that a max width is set
23:32
it's okay they're both cute
Why did that cause a post?
@LoganM yeh i found that weird too
23:36
Anyway, overlaps are mostly just a few pixels, but it's noticeable if you zoom in.
@LoganM ^ totally different to what i am seeing
I've never seen multiple lines
@LoganM have you tried shrinking the window, width-wise
Changing zoom doesn't do much
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ makes it worse
likewise
23:39
At 100% zoom with window around 2/3 normal width, that's what I see.
@LoganM weird how your is just doing one line. you in Chrome or Firefox
Currently in Chrome, but it also happens in IE.
Will try updating to the most recent version
Okay, the newer version of the css seems to fix it.
Now it's really huge though.
just wondering, with Tampermonkey what does the number in the red box mean? it was on 1 when i first started, 5 when i left last night and now it's on 7
@LoganM hmmmm, mine auto-updated?
Also, the star is weirdly positioned with this version.
@LoganM does the star kinda snap into position slightly
23:47
Yes, but that's not really what I'm talking about.
For that image and the one below it, it's off the image. For the rest of them it's in the corner.
@LoganM that's not what i'm seeing, mine is still over the image with all of them, Ion is no exception
Let me try updating the script also
also just wiped my cache and reloaded the page, no problems
Still looks the same for me.
What browser are you in?
@LoganM Chrome, the green is apart of my theme
23:52
What zoom?
@LoganM normal, 100%
At 100 it looks okay. Try 90.
still fine
I mean, does the star look right?
@LoganM yeh
you know i'm the one who's supposed to have all the problems, my PC doesn't get turned off at work so it can be on for 2 months
and i have hundreds of tabs open
23:55
I'm pretty sure what I'm seeing isn't my fault, considering I'm basically running a vanilla chrome installation.
I don't use chrome except for testing this stuff because it's terrible.
What does the star look like for you, then?
@Frosteeze "if i were to pick one anime series as my sole of entertainment for the rest of my current life and the next, it would be Cory in the House", how the hell is Cory an anime series, from what i remember it wasn't even animated
that
Weird, that's not what I see at all.
fuck it @Taisho don't do that!
23:59
Are you using the most recent versions?
@LoganM of the script? or Chrome
script
