Just heard someone on the news talk about how we can't have unity as a country as we are designed to have checks and balances in the system and that is designed to cause us to have conflict
Also heard people say that Biden should apologize for his statements about how bad Trump would be for the country and say that kind of talk is dangerous
> Vance ignored the reality that no one has done more to coarsen our political dialogue than Trump, whose language has grown ever more violent and divisive over time. It was Trump who called on Iowans to vote for him and defeat “all of the liars, cheaters, thugs, perverts, frauds, crooks, freaks, creeps”, just as it was Trump who slandered political opponents and immigrants as “vermin”.
@JoeW are you listening to Fox, btw? 😅
That and saying someone is bad for the country isn't a call to hurt them
Nah, Trump supporters on CNN
Ahh. Reasonable
> You’re next! Your time is coming”
> Less than 90 seconds later, we peeked through the riser and emerged to face the anger of Trump supporters, who were turning on the media.

“Fake news! This is your fault!” they yelled. “You’re next! Your time is coming.”

A few tried to break into the media area but were stopped by security guards.
- Axios reporter Sophie Cai on describing the angry reactions to media following the shooting.

Lines up all the picks and fires them one by one until he gets to the final two and fires the last one leaving just the pick on stage?

@JoeW Trump style.
I think it's premature to compare LBJ with Trump. His was completely a different scenario.

> JUDGE CANNON DISMISSES TRUMP CLASSIFIED DOCS CASE CITING UNLAWFUL APPOINTMENT OF SPECIAL COUNSEL JACK SMITH
> As the Washington Post writes, the bid to dismiss Smith on these grounds was seen by many legal observers as a "longshot" and that "other courts have rejected similar arguments to the one that he made in Florida about Smith’s unlawful appointment".
The current practice has been in place since the watergate scandal and got to love how a Trump appointed judge who was advise to recuse themselves from the case by other judges keeps ruling in Trumps favor.
@JoeW she made a bizarre argument re Smith's appointment.
DoJ bungled it from the start.
> The decision will almost certainly be challenged by Smith’s team of prosecutors at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, where the matter may eventually land at the desks of the Supreme Court.
> Future Supreme Court Justice Cannon,” Gaetz wrote in a post on X.

> Legal analysts were quick to explain that no judge had ever done what Cannon had done and that the case had been litigated extensively, with considerable case law from Richard Nixon to, most recently, Hunter Biden's special counsel.
> If I'm Jack Smith and the DOJ, I might consider handing the Mar-A-Lago case to the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, re-indict, and hope it gets assigned to a more competent judge than Cannon.

I seem to remember a lot of complaints about a judge for what his daughter did, yet there seems to be little talk about a judge who was appointed by Trump making so many rulings in Trumps favor.
@JoeW she apparently took resort to an outlandish argument by Clarence Thomas.
> Wow. She just (temporarily) immunized Trump from engaging in espionage. I guess this is the price for a SCOTUS seat. If there's any doubt over what is at stake this November, doubt no more.
- Andrew C Laufer, Esq
> It is wrong on the law and must be appealed immediately. This is further evidence that Judge Cannon cannot handle this case impartially and must be reassigned.
- Schumer

Does the ruling by Judge Cannon mean that the Hunter Biden conviction is about to be overturned since that was also done by a special counsel? And in that case wouldn't that protect him from retrial?
Also have to note the perfect timing of the ruling just as the Republican National Convention starts which lets them use it as a big talking point.

@User1865345 The above compilation shows: Claire Hanna, Seamus Logan, Colum Eastwood, Clive Lewis.
And Wikipedia has an article: List of British republicans (which lists several MPs).

@MartinSleziak thanks.
J. D. Vance is going to be VP pick, for sure.

> [Trump's selection] solidifies that his campaign is working overtime to appease wealthy donors and corporate interests. There should be no lingering doubt that Trump and Vance will create one of the most extreme and corrupt administrations in our nation’s history.
