minecraft world status update
Big tunnel
connects the main base to a new mine
mfw inside the long tunnel
facing away from the mine end
it connects to both inside the cave house, and the outside
additionally
new farmhouse up top
that's the "staircase" up
it ain't much but it's honest work
anyhow, that's the world status update
I also ransacked a village for all it's hay bales
and lava bucketed a few cows and sheep for free cooked food
pro tip: don't waste lava on chickens
they die straight away and don't drop food because it gets burned
also, obviously, new texture pack
(ik it's "resource pack" but like I said we partying like the world will end in December :p)

@lyxal what texture pack is that

@RydwolfPrograms Thanks for all the info! This gives me some helpful perspective.
I am probably not interested in building from scratch. I might if I had a local friend who did that sort of thing and could guide me through it. On my own, I'd worry about messing something up.
I'd be willing to swap a couple parts out, since I've done that before.

I was looking at this one, which seems to check all of the boxes except the AM5 CPU socket. Assuming I just don't ever upgrade the CPU, how future-proof do you think a Ryzen 7 5800X3D 3.4GHz is? (And what do the numbers mean? I noticed your build had a Ryzen 5, but it was 7600 3.8 GHz.)
22:35
@Ginger some sort of "simple" pack type thing
@DLosc If you've got good cooling you'll be getting ~4.5 GHz, which is still pretty decent single core speed, so you should be fine for a while. And with 8 cores and multithreading being increasingly common in games, CPU performance likely won't be an issue (plus the massive amount of cache, that's what the X3D indicates)
I also use a mod pack called fabulously optimised
I know I said I wasn't doing modded, but performance improvement isn't really changing the base game :p
The 500 GB SSD is pretty small, so you'd probably end up swapping that out after not too long (unless you added another SATA drive from your old PC or something)
Here's a comparison between the 5800X3D and 7600: cpubenchmark.net/compare/4823vs5172/…
Overall looks like a decent prebuilt tho, especially if you already have an SSD lying around

@lyxal based modrinth user
Well technically I use multimc
But the mod pack for optimisation comes from modrinth
yeah I was referring to that
I uh
do not like curseforge

@RydwolfPrograms Ok, cool.
I don't see myself needing a lot of hard drive space: I've got 1 TB on my current desktop and I've only used 184 GB of it. But it also says it comes with extra drive bays, so adding more shouldn't be a problem.
(Shoutout to the old Windows 98 family computer that had an 8 GB hard drive :D)
