@AidenChow hours? ha I've spent 138 days on this
@AidenChow basically
because my IP gain is that high
I also have all upgrades/autobuyers/break unlocked
literally being flexed on so hard lol
idek what infinity challenges are
the next level of challenges
05:33
cooool, very awesome, just what i needed
if you want to use mine
although tbf I have used an autoclicker to hold down the max button while I do other things lol
eh sounds like u r super far into the game, while i still barely scratched the surface
@lyxal looolll
the powers of mobile gaming
oh u play on mobile? im playing on web
99% of games I play are mobile
like Bejewelled blitz, Calculator the game (1 and 2), Linia super, monopoly solitare, piano tiles (umod - unmodded is for nerds), unpuzzle (classic, x and r), subway surfers and cats are liquid
speaking of blitz, man it's been a while since I last tryharded that game
the meta has probably changed since my last cycle
05:49
@lyxal "challenge 9 record: 0.026", meanwhile my challenge 9 record sitting at 15 minutes lolol
yeah it's a pain
My C9 used to be that long too
But you'll eventually get to the point where it'll be done on 26ms
That's my achievement progress
@lyxal huh some of the achievement names are different from the web version
06:39
@AidenChow Gotta play this now, here goes the next twenty hours of my life
Oh, antimatter dimensions.
I've given up on this before :P

1 hour later…
07:43
@emanresuA lol how far did u get?

2 hours later…
09:34
Not very
But i'll try again

And I thought 1.18 was a bad update
1.19.1 is going to be the death of multiplayer if they don't get rid of it and they fix the exploits
Even if they fix things like "night" and "assistant" being censored, and even if false bans are sorted out and only occur in 1% of situations, there's a million problems with implementing a global profanity filter and a centrally moderated chat reporting system on Java
1. Profanity filters are, at best, basically useless, and at worst, extremely harmful
E.g., if my name is Richard and I go by Dick, which is yeah a bit less common nowadays, it'd still be pretty awful to have my own name censored by default, and if a friend were to refer to me with that name they could likely get banned since there wouldn't be context. And filtering profanity gives a false sense of security, since you can still say really harmful and offensive stuff without any profanity at all.
2. Microsoft can't keep moderating chat for the rest of time
Java is pretty decentralized. Other than Mojang's central servers for authentication purposes, you can set up your own server and play with your friends, and this could continue for decades with little maintenance. But once Microsoft no longer has the profit or incentive to continue moderation, but there's an expectation in place that they do, the easiest option for them is to just get rid of multiplayer.
3. Custom servers are custom servers, and Minecraft is not necessarily a game for kids
I get censoring chat on Mojang-owned servers. I even somewhat get it on Realms, which Mojang sort of own. But on people's private servers? Hugely overstepping their bounds.
4. This removes authority from individual servers to moderate themselves, and choose their own policies
Servers could save a lot of time and money and just rely on Microsoft's moderation, which will likely be pretty ineffective. If they continue to use their own moderation, there will be conflict between the two which would lead to inconsistent moderation policies and twice the opportunities for false bans
wait night is censored???
is it because of the first three letters
In some cases yes, classic scunthorpe problem
but yeah, this idea is entirely stupid and I have not seen a single person say a single good thing about it
Profanity filters are just a bad idea in general, but if you have them, they should be front-end only
on paper the things they say they'll ban for are... reasonable, but players host their own servers privately and Microsoft enforcing bans on them is just unacceptable IMHO
yeah an option to toggle a client-side chat filter would be a great idea IMO
most servers already have that as a plugin of some sort
16:05
Reminds me of an online game I was playing a while back where my two (random) teammates were "BatmanDarkK***ht" and "GET SHAT ON" which kind of sums up my opinions on how effective most of those filters are
3
also sure, some things like racism one might consider to be universally unacceptable, but why should microsoft get a say in if a private server of only, say, a group of black friends, want to use the n word with each other (because reclamation of slurs is commonly accepted)
@RadvylfPrograms yeah sounds about right lol
I also don't know how much context Microsoft's going to have. "I'm going to go to your house and kill you" could mean two really different things depending on whether it's in the context of the Minecraft world or IRL
also true
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well, I doubt microsoft will listen to what anyone thinks, and i'm not going to boycott minecraft over it cuz a) again, I don't think they'll care, I've already paid, and b) I don't care enough to sacrifice having fun playing the game over it
You could probably find examples of that for most categories, too. "I'm going to blow up the Eiffel Tower" would probably fall under "Terrorism" unless you happen to be playing on a world download of something like Build The Earth
also, the whole category on like suicidal users as well - "I'm going to kill myself" is pretty reasonable to say in game
i do it all the time to like return to spawn if i have nothing on me
16:11
I'm also interested in why Microsoft would do this in the first place, seems like a massive legal liability
If someone flags a message which leads to actual harm and Microsoft ignores it, seems like that could put a lot of responsibility on them, similar to the public forum vs. moderation thing on social media

5 hours later…
20:54
I mostly play singleplayer :P
And there are chat encryption mods, sorta like CoC
21:54
@AidenChow Just unlocked eighth dimension. Still a while to go
22:04
@RadvylfPrograms The profanity filter is really funny in Skype's subtitle system, too. You can't say "butt" without being censored--but you can say "butts."
Also apparently (though I haven't tried it), you'll get censored in Age of Empires II if you say "dock" (which is a common building in the game).
@emanresuA yeah the first infinity takes hours iirc
I like the idea of each user being able to enable/disable a profanity filter for what they see, plus probably a reporting system which would hopefully get looked at by humans who understand context.
22:17
Here's what I think is a very reasonable solution:
> I think that moderation is fine if it stays contained to Mojang-owned servers and possibly Realms. Having a centralized moderation system seems sensible in that case. But private servers should stay decentralized, maybe with Mojang moderation as opt-in.
(TBH, I'd like a user-side profanity filter for SE chat...)

1 hour later…
23:22
@DLosc I could make one if you want
You know all those jokes about how programming is 99% looking stuff up? Well, I'm doing a course on cybersec and there's an entire module on just searching. It's not even at the start, it comes after all the VM and Linux stuff
I guess professionals also consider Google more important than other stuff lol
