@DJMcMayhem Since you were asking for co-op boardgames a few weeks ago: I've received my copy of 7th Continent (+ big expansion). So far I've only managed to get in one session of 2 hours but it seems to be every bit as amazing as it sounded (and I'm already regretting not getting the small expansions).
Serious Poulp are going to put up one more batch of leftover copies on their store at some point in July, so if you want it (and don't want to get it second hand somewhere) you might wanna sign up to their newsletter to get notified when the store goes live.
I did just get a new game called Legacy of Dragonholt, but I haven't tried it out yet. It seems to be like a DnD-lite. The phrase "Cooperative narrative game" was what sold me
7th Continent is also very narrative heavy, but more nonlinear, has more actual game mechanics (where Dragonholt is basically a beefed up Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book) and also has really fantastic exploration elements.
@MartinEnder I'm excited to try it out soon, but I've got one hesitation first. Would playing in a large group slow it down a lot? I could pretty easily end up playing with anywhere from 1-6 players.
I've played in really large DnD groups before, and it's way less fun that way
I've only played it with my wife. The game is fairly light on the mechanical side, so I don't think it's going to bog you down too much. Depending on how much the group likes to overanalyse their choices.
But there really isn't much point in doing so, since you can't really "lose" (I mean, there's a bad ending but you'll still get a cool story).
Essentially, one person reads the narrative and every few paragraphs you get to a decision point. As a group you basically need to decide you makes that choice (and potentially what the choice is if you don't want to leave it up to a single person).
