@JoeW yeh. like as Phillip DeFranco mentions in the video. congressmen generally don't resign from their posts before it's confirmed they got the new position incase if it gets blocked
but even if that is his fallback, that report will likely be circulated as others decided if he should be confirmed or not

Normally, but they also don't have an ethics investigation that is about to release a report. From what I have heard from some like the speaker now that he has resigned there is a chance the report will never see the light of day. If that report gets released it will likely sink his nomination.
If he was not nominated there is a question if that would have sunk his seat in congress or not

Guardian: Hacker accesses Gaetz testimony file, the New York Times reports
> According to the New York Times, the computer file consisted of 24 exhibits, including testimony by a woman in which she says she had sex with Gaetz in 2017 when she was 17, as well as corroborating testimony by a second woman who said that she witnessed the encounter.

The files were reportedly downloaded by a person using the name Altam Beezley at 1.23pm on Monday. But when a lawyer connected to the case sent an email to the address associated with Beezley, they received an automated reply that the recipient does not exist.

It's also not entirely clear whether they even CAN do that. Dems are still in the majority, and with both JD Vance and Marco Rubio not being available it's hard for the GOP to have a big impact
