@JoeW yep. Folks at Fox comments were running wild with this.
Also they were talking like he can work for few months without confirmation, then after that once the sea calms, his nomination would sail through. Also, others were talking about Mark Levin being to be made the actual AG.

@JoeW he likely resigned because of the investigation against him because now that stops because they only investigate sitting members of congress
@Memor-X Well that has been the case for a while but now he as another spot waiting for him that would be better to not have those results public
was just listening to the Thrusday/Friday Phillip DeFranco video talking about it and how it was 2 days off from a vote on whether to release the findings which, now he's left, is unsure what happens now
They have released it for members who have left before and I think his nomination is a good reason to release it
If he would have resigned to private life it likely would never see the light of day

@JoeW yeh. like as Phillip DeFranco mentions in the video. congressmen generally don't resign from their posts before it's confirmed they got the new position incase if it gets blocked
but even if that is his fallback, that report will likely be circulated as others decided if he should be confirmed or not
Normally, but they also don't have an ethics investigation that is about to release a report. From what I have heard from some like the speaker now that he has resigned there is a chance the report will never see the light of day. If that report gets released it will likely sink his nomination.
If he was not nominated there is a question if that would have sunk his seat in congress or not

> “Biological men do not belong in private women’s spaces. Period. Full stop. End of story,” the congresswoman wrote in a social media post announcing the resolution. The bill hopes to prevent members and staff “using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex.”
> “This is a blatant attempt from far right-wing extremists to distract from the fact that they have no real solutions to what Americans are facing,” the Delaware state senator said in a statement. “We should be focused on bringing down the cost of housing, health care, and child care, not manufacturing culture wars.”
> The top Democrat on the House Administration Committee, which handles how things operate in the lower legislature and in the Capitol, made a similar point.

“I think we have a lot of problems in America,” New York Rep. Joe Morelle told Axios. “I don’t think spending time worrying about the restrooms is an order of priority here. I think Nancy Mace should focus on other things.”

> Trump Media and Technology Group, despite the company’s well publicized financial struggles, has emerged in recent weeks as a proxy for Trump’s political stock, with the company’s shares skyrocketing in value since the president-elect won re-election earlier this month.
> The company’s former CEO, Kelly Loeffler—who served as a Republican U.S. Senator during Trump’s first term—is also the co-chair of Trump’s inauguration.

Kremlin published changes to its nuclear doctrine, lowering the threshold for what would justify a nuclear response. cbc.ca/news/world/ukraine-russia-us-atacms-missiles-1.7387124
> The changes, which the Kremlin said were developed over several months, state that Russia will consider using nuclear weapons if its sovereignty is critically threatened by a conventional weapon with the support of a nuclear power.

> According to the New York Times, the computer file consisted of 24 exhibits, including testimony by a woman in which she says she had sex with Gaetz in 2017 when she was 17, as well as corroborating testimony by a second woman who said that she witnessed the encounter.

The files were reportedly downloaded by a person using the name Altam Beezley at 1.23pm on Monday. But when a lawyer connected to the case sent an email to the address associated with Beezley, they received an automated reply that the recipient does not exist.

Pretty sure they planned on blocking his judge picks anyway
All his statement does is make it look like it was his idea. They did the same to Obama in his second term.

It's also not entirely clear whether they even CAN do that. Dems are still in the majority, and with both JD Vance and Marco Rubio not being available it's hard for the GOP to have a big impact
I think they still can for a lot of them by filibustering them as not all nominations are safe from the filibuster
