@Nzall True, of course. But if we're talking nanoseconds here, as a juror, I'd be more willing to entertain a certain benefit of the doubt towards the cop. The seconds immediately following the shot appear to paint the cop (not sure if it's the same one) in a positive light as well.

For real, that was an actual issue in 2021.
A woman, married to a female service member, had to sue the state of Alaska to get her dividend because the state of Alaska wasn't recognizing their marriage.
Since not everybody here has Alaska as a part of their username, I'll mention that PFD stands for Permanent Fund Dividend.
It's that weird annual payment that all Alaskans get.

> “We are pleased to have come to an agreement that the state of Alaska will follow the orders of the federal court and U.S. Supreme Court that same sex-couples are entitled to have their marriages recognized and to receive all of the benefits attendant on marriage, including the PFD. It is disturbing that it took five years and a federal lawsuit to force the state to follow the law and stop its discriminatory policy,”
Yup

@Wipqozn Since I have somehow cast myself as the devil's advocate on this one, I'm going to reserve judgment on that statement. If it played out the way my gut tells me it did, perhaps that cop does deserve some empathy.

"Ontario gives police sweeping powers as Covid crisis spirals out of control | Canada | The Guardian" amp.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/16/…
> Ontario has announced sweeping new police powers to enforce an extended stay-at-home order, in the latest sign that officials in Canada’s most populous province have lost control of the rapidly spreading coronavirus
Ford has no idea what he's doing
> Police in Ontario will now have the power to stop drivers or pedestrians and ask for their address and reason for being out. Residents could face fines of up to $C750 (US$600) for refusing to comply. Checkpoints will be established on provincial borders with Manitoba and Quebec to stop non-essential travel – but not on the frontier with the US
> And although most of the current cases involve frontline and essential workers, the premier made no mention of sick pay – a policy health experts say would help slow the spread of the virus.
> Ontario estimates it will need more than 4,000 additional nurses in the coming months and has asked all provinces and territories for 620 nurses – especially those with intensive care experience – as soon as possible.
Yeah Ford, the other provinces will just magically produce some nurses

I've mentioned a strange turn my life has taken. I've been tutoring a group of young people, all felons, towards various individual goals - like GED test prep.
One of them finally completed something I asked of him weeks ago.
Here it is:
Pretty, huh

@Jolenealaska it's pretty, yeah. What was your reaction to the spelling mistake?

I said, "pretty." "There is an A in spread." Then I shook my head and walked out of the room.
I'll probably keep it forever.

@Jolenealaska That's probably the best answer. Don't make a big deal about it. Considering he's a young felon, he might not have had the opportunity most of us have had of a full education

> There's a church in Brooklyn Center that was harboring people hurt by police violence during the #DaunteWright protests, and this was how the cops responded.
