not sure if this is normal. like on the one hand it looks like Trump blocking the media he doesn't like but on the other hand Bloomberg is running against him
@GodEmperorDune wasn't one of the things the Inspector General's investigation was covering was about the claims Obama had spied on Trump's campaign like wiretapping or that?
> Fortunately for the political process, there remain a number of committed individuals who are steadfast enough in their beliefs to run for office to benefit their fellow Americans. Such people are willing to eschew political and personal comfort and convenience because they believe they can make a difference. One outstanding and inspiring example of such integrity is the country’s only Independent Congressman, Vermont’s Bernie Sanders.
> Nevertheless, there remain unanswered questions, and our investigation must continue, even as we transmit our report to the Judiciary Committee. Given the proximate threat of further presidential attempts to solicit foreign interference in our next election, we cannot wait to make a referral until our efforts to obtain additional testimony and documents wind their way through the courts.
> The evidence of the President’s misconduct is overwhelming, and so too is the evidence of his obstruction of Congress. Indeed, it would be hard to imagine a stronger or more complete case of obstruction than that demonstrated by the President since the inquiry began
I mean pretty much yeah
@BradC Love to fill the entire SCOTUS docket with "Things The President Is Trying To Avoid Accountability For"
> Trump: "I'm not going to let people take advantage of American companies because if anyone's going to take advantage of the American companies it's going to be us.”
@Frank I think most Senators will want to be there; and especially want to be there for the vote (removal requires a super-majority of the present members, not a super-majority of the total)
(in most states, this is typically outside the scope of Good Samaritan laws, as far as I know the law in Ohio specifies that you must be trained to do a thing in order to be covered by the law)
I'm guessing that there are less established EMT crews in more rural areas or something?
> Until recently, Rhode Island was also the only state in New England where 911 call takers were not trained to provide guidance over the phone on how to perform CPR. That changed this year after The Public’s Radio and ProPublica reported on the deaths of a 6-month-old baby in Warwick and a 45-year-old woman in Cumberland after 911 call takers failed to give CPR instructions to the family or other bystanders
> Asselin wanted to see whether the “30 minute rule” -- which requires EMS personnel to spend at least half an hour on scene performing CPR before taking them to the hospital -- had improved patients’ chances of surviving a cardiac arrest neurologically intact. (Preliminary results were promising; the study is ongoing.)
I'm extra confused by the fact that it seems it's somehow promising based on preliminary research?
Like maybe 30 minutes of CPR while taking them to the hospital, if it takes that long to get to the hospital, but before?
> Advanced airway management (endotracheal intubation or placement of BIAD) should not result in interruption of chest compressions. Regardless of proximity to a receiving facility, absent concern for provider safety, or traumatic etiology for cardiac arrest, continue resuscitative efforts for a minimum of 30 minutes prior to moving the patient to the ambulance or transporting the patient
🤔
So they're supposed to intubate them without sufficient training in between CPR compressions?
oh hey TIL the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians is headquartered in Ohio (their exams are used in most states, and define the levels of EMR, EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic, used in many states)
@TimStone imagine if the GOP is actually just waiting for the Democrats to have enough evidence so they can all jump ship without risk of Trump getting away with crimes and then turning on "traitors"
@BradC lol, this would be hilarious if Trump, like with this impeachment hearings, says for senators to boycott the vote to protest it by NOT turning up and they get Super Majority because all the people who are stead fast loyal to Trump who would vote against it just wheren't there
Trump: DON'T SUPPORT THIS HOAX AND SKIP THE VOTE! *Trump is impeached and removed from office* Trump: WHY NO ONE VOTED AGAINST THIS GOP: you told us not to go, we're following your exact orders!
I was going to say, "I can't imagine him surviving the Trump admin with reputation intact", but... I also couldn't imagine Trump being elected in the first place, so...
I at least hope Pompeo is forced to defend all Trump's horrible ideas during his (planned) Senate run
@Memor-X Novel, but "defeat Trump with this one little trick" doesn't get me as excited as it used to, since none of the prior ones actually worked out.
@TimStone That's like George Clooney saying "I don't think I'm sexy... I have asked people to adore me for my sly wit, and I don't think I've been successful"
The video is somewhat hyperbolic, there are a number of cases where he didn't have to hit whatever shared the lane, but that said, it's a valid issue.

(Also, this is....very old. The article is from 2014).

I know here I don't bike because a) there's not even bike lanes everywhere and b) even when they are I have seen too many cars use them as an overflow "I'm gonna sneak around people" lane
Should be titled: GOP will confirm literally any judge with membership in the Federalist Society
For those who can't read the link:
> Senate Republicans will vote this week to confirm a lifetime federal judge who claimed that fertility treatments and surrogacy have “grave effects on society, including diminished respect for motherhood and the unique mother-child bond; exploitation of women; commodification of gestation and of children themselves; and weakening of appropriate social mores against eugenic abortion.”
Further detail about this judge, from when she was first nominated:
@GnomeSlice That cop is very wrong. A cyclist is expected to be in the bike lane if able. They're allowed to leave it if the lane is blocked by cars, potholes, or other obstructions.
@Ash Also this. A few examples where he could avoid these things, which is why bike lanes are supposed to be wide. Also it's from 2011.

I mean he's a youtuber so there's always gonna be some sensationalism in the thing
> A new report says that more people have been visiting food banks across the province more frequently, including a "concerning" number of people with full or part-time employment.
> The organization says it may seem "counterintuitive" given that unemployment rates in Ontario are at their lowest point in the past 10 years, but precarious and temporary jobs and low wages are resulting in struggling families.
Maybe we should actually force companies to pay fair wages
> More than 87 per cent of those accessing hunger-relief programs are living in rentals or social housing, which takes up 70 per cent of their income.
@Wipqozn wait, you don't? maybe it seems foreign to me but where in Australia if someone underpays their employees they are shamed for it, like George Calombaris was underpaying his restaurant and because of that he also lost his position as a judge on Masterchef
but then again we do make it so that your income is taxed on payday so it's in the government's interest to make sure employees are paid in full because it means more tax
