Wait, wait, that Iranian tanker the US was trying to seize changed its name??
> The time window for a new seizure was also rapidly closing, as workers were seen by an AP crew hanging on a ladder to repaint the vessel’s bow with the name “Adrian Darya 1” over the place where “Grace 1” had already been blackened out.
There's no additional provided context here for why this was done
The only conclusion I can draw is the head-tapping meme "Can't seize the Grace 1 if the Grace 1 doesn't exist"
> A customer shot a waiter dead at an eatery on the outskirts of Paris, apparently enraged at being made to wait for a sandwich, a source close to the investigation said Saturday.
@Wipqozn says the waiter was shot in the shoulder. i assume they must have died from blood loss which to be honest i didn't think that would be the case with a shoulder wound
@Stormblessed wasn't meant to be. just my own surprise. ofcause for any gun owner it should be expected then if they pull the trigger, no matter the context or intent they should be expecting to kill a person and all that act brings with it
> Pike took a photo and posted it on Facebook Wednesday along with this message about Fayette County Public Schools’ response to Kentucky’s new law that requires the national “In God We Trust” motto to be displayed prominently at schools:
Fuck the Kentucky government.
"Separation of church and state, I mean, unless it's Christianity."

@Wipqozn amen to that but this is a fascinating way around it
@Ash Honestly, it's not the way I'd go about it, but I don't think it would be a good idea to hang a sarcastic/facetious artwork making a mockery of that motto in a public school in a highly religious environment
@Wipqozn I could really tear into how America and the Church in general has twisted Christianity into something that as of this moment does not deserve respect, especially not mine, but this is not the place for that
Like, I respect the concepts of Christianity, like Love Thy Neighbor and support your community and help the poor and needy, but so much of that religion has been twisted beyond that with greed and hatred
@Ash the typical US evangelical christians have almost nothing in common with most Christians I'd encounter in Germany. They share a label, but almost nothing else

@MadScientist mhm - it is not Christianity as I know it - even the worst parts of the Christianity I grew up in is not that.

I may not ascribe to it in the same way as I once did (The Baha'i faith is based on progressive revelation so Christ is still important but differently so) but yeah, America, what did you dooooo.
