It kinda makes me uncomfortable when I read through threads on Kavanaugh and there's some commenter being all "not all frats are bad" and opening with "my fraternity had a good reputation for not having a rape culture".
Makes me think of Chris Tucker's bit on being a good parent.
Which then makes me think of how that same stand-up bit has been misused for racist purposes.

What are perceptions on a cis-gendered individual in a relationship with a trans-gendered individual having hang-ups on sex? Is that something the cis-gendered person should've dealt with before entering the relationship?
@Yuuki imo the biggest part of relationships is communication
so start there
going to the partner and saying "fyi i have these hang ups that i'm trying to work through, what do you think, how should we proceed" is generally good
as for when to do it, that probably depends on the relationship specifics and only the people in the relationship can figure that out
and not all relationships have to go to a sexual level
sometimes it's that people like spending time with each other and be more that just friends and have romantic dates without sex playing any part of it
but yeah i'd fall back on "try to communicate as honestly as possible with your partner". if you can't (or don't want to) communicate effectively, your relationship is not going to grow stronger
So the idea that someone having hang-ups with having sex with their partner entering into a romantic relationship with said partner is a bit jarring to me.
a lot of these things are like independent sliders on a menu
sex from none to all the time is one of them
romance from none to all the time is another one
aromantic relationships exist, as do asexual relationships, as do aromantic & asexual relationships
as far as resources to read up on such things, i am not aware but searching for "ace" (asexual) and "arom" (aromantic) communities might have something
I think maybe you can also have a subconscious hang-up, where you get into some situation for the first time and abruptly realize that it makes you uncomfortable
Update: 2 Kavanaugh classmates withdrew from a statement his lawyers issued disputing Ramirez’s claims. It is now signed by the 2 men whom Ramirez alleged had egged on Kavanaugh, the wife of the man she said told her to "kiss it,” and one other classmate: https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/senate-democrats-investigate-a-new-allegation-of-sexual-misconduct-from-the-supreme-court-nominee-brett-kavanaughs-college-years-deborah-ramirez
@Yuuki it's also possible for 2 cis-gendered individuals to have hang-ups on sex. I think the keyword here is "individuals" and each case should be treated individually
@Yuuki I have never done dating, so for me, it has always been friendship first and then at some point you realize that you are in a romantic relationship. I guess it's different if you enter the relationship with romantic interests from the get-go
@Yuuki recognizing the jarring feeling of the thing itself is also a better (if more difficult) road to go on instead of immediately rejecting it as well
Mic's Jack Smith IV hired a lawyer who threatened to sue Jezebel for reporting on allegations that he engaged in coercive sex as well as "emotional abuse, manipulation, and gaslighting."

@GodEmperorDune That's definitely something I might have to look into. One thing I'm worried about with asking the relevant communities is having people jump down my throat because of some possible pre-conceived notions though.
@Yuuki lurk before leap is a good idea here. taking the time to learn the lingo and reading through FAQs and whatnot can demonstrate that you are trying to do the work
I would bet on things going OK with the asexual and/or aromantic communities if you approach it with a good attitude of trying to understand their feelings and experiences.
putting the problematic nature of virginity aside, i don't understand how being a virgin has any bearing on the allegations of what he did. Putting your dick in someone's face against their will doesn't equal intercourse, neither does holding someone down and groping them. Sexual assault is a more expansive term than just penis in orifice.
also purity culture as a whole (and the obvious signalling he is trying to do here) can go in the sea
I get that “oh that’s sexual assault”, but there’s that implication of “well, it was sexual assault but at least it’s not rape” that can get into the sea.
@TimStone so that tomorrow someone can come forward with "i had sex with kavanaugh when he was in high school and/or college" and do another news cycle
@TimStone should be rubbing your veins instead in preparation
> That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did... You deserved it.
@Yuuki a bit belated but I can pretty much reiterate what @GodEmperorDune and @Chippies said. Romantic asexual relationships are totally a thing, whether because one or both people aren't interested in sex or because of other reasons (medical issues, not sexually compatible with each other for whatever reason, etc). Sexual hangups are a thing even among The Cishets™. The main fix is lots of
communication and, in my experience, lots of cuddles.
Right, I meant more that assuming we believe the claim he just says he didn't, not that he didn't want to, and we know what kind of rhetoric is common in those circles now, hard to say things were any more respectful at the time 🤷

Just spoke with #JamesRoche who was Yale roommate of Brett #Kavanaugh . He confirms that the #SCOTUS nominee was frequently drunk, and incoherently. Says he supports integrity of Debbie Ramirez, the 2nd accuser. #abc7now #KavanaughConfirmation Respects her courage.
Rob Goldstone now thinks the Trump Tower meeting he arranged between Russians and the Trump campaign could have been planned by Russian intelligence. https://nbcnews.to/2DqRs21
Yeah, he was mentioned in the article but him putting his face out there and reiterating it is solid
.@tedbarrettcnn reports:
Q: Should Ramírez be summoned to testify?
@OrrinHatch: No, I think we can look into that accusation. You’re going to have these phony accusations come always. ...
Q: Why do you say it’s a phony allegation?
Hatch: Because I know it is, that’s why.
The full clip, just aired, puts the “virgin” remarks in a clearer context: Kavanaugh was asked if he had a role in any gang rapes, as lawyer Avenatti is suggesting. Fox’s preview clip omitted the question. https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1044365160956203008?s=21
Still seems like he went a few steps too far though
It's also not 100% clear from Avenatti's accusations-as-questions if Kavanaugh is reported to have actively taken part, I think? I'd have to double-check
Yeah, the questions carry a possible implication but it seems to mostly be establishing that he was present and aware of the situation at a place where this happened
@GodEmperorDune Yeah, the only thing he suggests Kavanaugh himself actually did to a woman was "sexual conduct" while the woman was intoxicated and/or under the influence of drugs, which is a fairly nondescript act
The rest is about asserting Kavanaugh was present but not necessarily a direct participant in a gang rape
