Like if he was just a random senator it'd be one thing but foreign governments are just going to punish his state specifically so 🤷🏼‍♂️

@TimStone he's a bit fuct either way

Sam Nunberg tells me he’s handed over his old Blackberry phones to Robert Mueller, who became aware of his use of the device when his Blackberry email signature was disclosed in his leaked correspondence with Roger Stone: “Sent from my BlackBerry - the most secure mobile device.”

either foreign pressure on his constituents or trump campaigns against him

@TimStone LOL

@GodEmperorDune I mean maybe, but he's not even up for reelection until 2020, and if Trump's still around then I doubt he'll have much time to pick on him
Rudy Giuliani — the president's lawyer — personally attacked Stormy Daniels in Israel. "[S]he has no reputation. If you're going to sell your body for money, you just don't have a reputation." https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/06/politics/giuliani-stormy-daniels-trump-melania/index.html
what about your name tho?

12:10 AM
does giuliani get paid per ridiculous thing he says that gets picked up by the media?

No but he also thinks he does

lolsob

The gun graduation pick girl is challenging David Hogg to an arm wrestle "over the fate of the 2nd amendment" on NRA TV and I'm like 100% sure that's not how the process works
@TimStone Hmmmmmmmm
It's an unauthorized disclosure of information investigation
There's no way the DOJ is going after Nunes but I would be able to die happy if they did
Yeah, legal Twitter says it must be a SSCI leak

12:25 AM
@TimStone ahahahahaha

BREAKING: We now know what former Missouri Gov. @EricGreitens didn't want the public to see in his secret deal with St. Louis prosecutor Kim Gardner. Read our story here #MoGov #MoLeg http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article212652594.html
In dropping the case the agreement stated that Greitens' team acknowledged the DA had sufficient evidence to move forward
(for the computer-tampering charge; part of the agreement was that he would resign)

12:56 AM
@TimStone "Gun graduation pick"?

err autocorrect, *picture

Still not familiar.

mmm

NRA took a picture of her at her "graduation" with an M16 for protection

user15026
@TimStone yeah that's not how that even what

1:05 AM
@quartata Normally this would be just normal stupid but of course she got many job offers and is now a minor celebrity for no particular reason so it is in fact Extra Stupid
I also feel like we covered it briefly but I can't find it in here

indeed.

1:30 AM
On April 11, I called Trump’s favorite architect to ask about jobs he did in Eastern Europe that recently drew Mueller’s eye. Within hours, John Fotiadis closed down his 10 yr old architecture firm, deleted his portfolio and left Twitter. He’s still MIA. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/06/how-a-ny-architect-offers-a-window-into-trump-deals-in-eastern-europe.html
I uhhhh
As...one...does?
I talked to a reporter once better shut this show down

Hooly shit

@TimStone and this was what i woke up too

he really doesn't know how to shut up does he?

did we do kevin hart yet
its not even worth posting a specific example, everyone knows what im talking about. lets all point and laugh and be done with it

EXCLUSIVE: Jake Paul busted by amusement park security after wreaking havoc on a motorized scooter reserved for disabled guests. https://trib.al/nVd5P8g
I would love to never speak of Jake Paul again but that's horrible for so many reasons and it is terrible that society continues to reward someone like that

@TimStone yeh, it's almost like that "redemption" tour he did after his Japan Visit improved nothing about him
or was that Logan Paul

@Memor-X this
(I didn't know who either of them were until the whole Logan Paul fiasco)

@Chippies ahhh, keep getting the 2 confused

@Memor-X I also for quite some time, when saw someone mention Jake Paul, thought to myself "isn't his name Logan?"
I assume they're siblings

@Chippies they are

2:46 AM
Into the trash can with the lot of 'em

it kinda annoys me that there are complete douchebags that don't bring anything to the world and get insane money for being douchebags
but I also support being able to do your own thing and get paid for it, so there's conflicting feelings
I mean, it's pretty cool that someone of their age could be making a ton of money by doing what they enjoy, but I hate that so many douchebags get rewarded for being douchebags

Indeed
There's probably plenty of people doing good stuff we don't hear about but I'd still be alright not hearing about the douchebags on account of them not being notable

@TimStone the worst part is that them being notable for doing bad stuff is only helping them in the long run
most of their fans will love them regardless of what they do and the bad publicity means people who hadn't heard of them have a reason to check them out so while they might be getting some backlash from some people, overall it's a win for them

Analysis: Millennials should be willing and able to work longer than their parents and grandparents did https://politi.co/2xWCfTY
🙂

Work to your dead is the solution to all the worlds problems

@Unionhawk To be fair, the tweet is misquoting the article which is confusing since its their own publication 🤔

To be fair, loud farting noises

🤷
It's saying you might not be totally screwed if you have that option but doesn't say it's a good thing

1:42 PM
Instead of the normative "should" they should use the descriptive "will have to [...] in order to survive"

I mean it's the same thing
why do we have to
is the more important question here

I disagree that it's the same thing, but agree on what the important question is.

Same

@TimStone I mean to be fair it's the more cautious opposite of "Wanted for attempted murder, show up for work at the White House"

He had previous things for assault and stuff too!
Just incredible background checking

1:54 PM
@ToxicFrog I mean ultimately it doesn't matter, the "workers should just work forever" analysis exists whether or not politico is making that point here
"one cool tip to earn money when you reach retirement age 1) never retire"
"yeah actually the way things are going you guys might have to do that but that sucks"

@Unionhawk my point is more that "should" implies that you have a choice but one option is better than the others, or that it's a thing you might want to do that will make life easier for you later
Like, no-one says "millenials should be willing to breathe an oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere and eat food"

I mean we should be willing to do that as it turns out
None of this is my fault because politico played telephone game with themself first
"might have to but that's bad" is just the next logical step from "should as in because making money is cool" really
er, maybe the next late capitalism step

I mean you need analysis to quantify problems, idk
But regardless
The President has made a joke
How could Jeff Flake, who is setting record low polling numbers in Arizona and was therefore humiliatingly forced out of his own Senate seat without even a fight (and who doesn’t have a clue), think about running for office, even a lower one, again? Let’s face it, he’s a Flake!
I apologise for nothing

you should be
@TimStone I suppose it is easy to discount this when we have the dumbest analysts possible in our current moment
There is a whole debate on the importance of theory on the left (you need both theory and praxis is the answer to the debate; meet people where they're at, but also don't just assume that people aren't ever going to get it)

2:11 PM
Luckily for you I have some timely police-state / late-capitalism crossover material for you
Kraft Heinz paying kids slapped with lemonade stand fines https://fxn.ws/2LtXDS5

@Unionhawk Sure, but I still don't know how to continue the questline to get Theory and I've almost maxed out the affinity chart for Praxis.

Still cannot get over this story. @bostonpolice release a deadly hit & run suspect. Then @DrewKaredes gets a confessions out of him on TV. Now, he's in jail. Crazy! @boston25 https://www.fox25boston.com/news/-i-m-not-worried-driver-makes-no-apologies-for-fatal-hit-and-run/764694121

@TimStone That architect looks smarter every day.

@Unionhawk i'm not a millennial however so long as i get paid i'll work

2:14 PM
@TimStone That shot with the kid, their lemonade stand, and a bunch of people in suits is just inherently comedic.

speaking of no shortcuts I need to read no shortcuts

this is the one where the liberals are trying for some give neither of the others a majority by voting for us strat right?

@Ash i hope the orange one wins

user15026
@Unionhawk well, kinda? Like they're not going to win, they don't want the NDP (because they know if Horwath gets in, the NDP might have sticking power for a while), and they don't want the PC (because honestly Doug Ford being in charge would be a nightmare let's be real here).

But like I seem to remember that being their entire message

user15026
5:15 PM
@Unionhawk effectively, yes

Which to be fair it pretty much also was in the UK with the lib dems trying for blairites as some rational center

user15026
(Although all it would really do is give the PCs a majority because let's be honest it's really PCs vs Liberal/NDP split because the NDP/Libs are too left leaning to guarantee pulling in any staunch PC supporters, based on my knowledge of this stuff (which I will admit isn't super great))

That's probably right

user15026
All I care right now is that it's not a PC majority. I'd looooooooooooove an NDP majority but I will settle for "Doug Ford doesn't get to be leader" because that is terrifying

@GodEmperorDune me too. :)

Every Canadian election has just comes down to how the much the left vote splits between liberal and NDP. It's why we need to switch over to a proportional system.

why everywhere does tbh

Yeah

That I think would make left electoral politics in the US, viable, at all

@Wipqozn That would be nice, yes - apparently the NDP want to push for the election reform that the Libs said they would and then didn't

wherein we have a reverse Labour/Lib Dem effect

We would want to clarify that with the state to make sure that such activities would in fact count as volunteer work for a nonprofit organization

@Ash iran deal presumably

But theoretically from what we know now I see no reason why it wouldn't

@quartata Yeah, looking back it's specifically this

Okay, I know this is super like localized news but damn it I am sad anyhow - Don Cameron dies after a brief illness - this guy called the Kitchener Rangers games on the radio for as long as I can remember (for like 50 years, so longer than I've been a person), until a couple years ago when he retired, but he'd still show up to call the odd home game.

RIP
@Unionhawk How many defendants did they have at the peak? This is just unbelievably embarrassing for prosecutors
All the more reason someone should have told Trump that they wouldn't bring the case 🤷

@TimStone I think it was close to 200
Hang on
> In late November 2017, six people charged with rioting went on trial. Prosecutors alleged that these six people were taking part in DisruptJ20 protests and vandalism.[32] A jury trial found the six defendants not guilty on all counts in December 2017.[33] On January 18, 2018, the U.S. Justice Department dropped charges against 129 people, leaving 59 defendants to face charges related to the DisruptJ20 protest.[34]
194
I don't know how many were in this round but they'll likely be retried except one of them I think

@Unionhawk what were the deadlocked charges again

@TimStone IIRC, you can't subpoena the President?
Or you can, but the President isn't required to testify?

shrugs
Easiest way is to just Not Have the President Do Crimes but I guess we'll see

But! Now we get to potentially enact operation: we're a nonprofit and your work requirement says we can do this

@TimStone No, I mean I thought this was brought up and answered during Nixon?
> The Supreme Court confirmed the legitimacy of this doctrine [executive privilege] in United States v. Nixon in the context of a subpoena emanating from the judiciary, instead of emanating from Congress. The Court held that there is a qualified privilege, which once invoked, creates a presumption of privilege, and the party seeking the documents must then make a "sufficient showing" that the "Presidential material" is "essential to the justice of the case".
So the President can only be subpoenaed by Congress.

No, we don't really have an answer about whether the President themselves can be subpoenaed
The Nixon situation dealt with things covered under executive privilege
But that's different than making the President show up

you think the sergeant at arms would physically drag the president into congress
because that would be cool

The dumbest part is that even completely misreading the cake case as a general endorsement of their position doesn't get you to where these people need to be

Because now everyone's going to interpret their ruling incorrectly.

reading the article, this happened before the cakes but i'm sure they will use the cakes as justification now

Since the bit in the cakes thing was about the expressive aspect of adding something to the cake, and like, selling tools or following a district policy is not that

8:41 PM
@TimStone and the supreme court didn't even touch that

Right

it was "your enforcement procedure was tainted"

So trying to fall back on that is going to extra lengths to be dumb as hell, heh. Unfortunately that still has consequences on people :/

actually not even the whole procedure, just the biased words in the decision
yeah, a lot of LGBT+ people will get hurt because people feel empowered in bigotry
but this teacher, ugggh
> Kluge said he was uncomfortable with this, feeling that using the preferred name implied agreement with the student's decision to identify as transgender. Kluge said that even though he doesn't agree with some of his students' decisions, he respects them.
if you respect them, then call them by the name they want to be called

@GodEmperorDune His students should just call him by a middle name or a nickname.

8:44 PM
@Yuuki apparently he gets around this by calling everyone by last name
talk about taking 3 right turns instead of making a left

"Calling you 'Mr. Kluge' implies agreement with your decision to identify as someone respectable. Even though I don't agree with your evaluation of yourself, I respect you, Mr. Bumbumface."

@GodEmperorDune But what if one of the students is FTM and their last name is Silverman?

well back to govt corruption and wtf
EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt had his staff drive him to multiple Ritz-Carlton hotels in search if a particular lotion they sell, according to people familiar with his security detail. By @JDawsey1 @Eilperin @Brady_Dennis https://wapo.st/2xOfUYE?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.981a3c6e3221
you heard that right, spending taxpayer dollars driving around in search of a lotion

@GodEmperorDune ... hotels sell lotion?
@GodEmperorDune In search of a lotion sold by a hotel, in fact.

8:49 PM
also just order it online like everybody else
maybe this was some sort of plan to personally cause more pollution by driving more

@Yuuki 2016

Yeah, but still happened.

@Yuuki I heard about it then :P

9:08 PM
I feel like this onion article be sent en masse to all politicians every time something like this happens

9:21 PM
@Yuuki Ah-ha, the first proof of minority-seeking bullets!

We're working on it
We still do need a majority eventually I think
to be able to hold power

Exclusive: U.S. immigration authorities sending 1,600 detainees to federal prisons https://reut.rs/2Jlrv6M by @SarahNLynch and @kristinacooke
Seems like if we're going to treat them like criminals we gotta go all the way and handle their cases under criminal court laws instead of Jeff Sessions' Judicial Jaunt 🤷🏼‍♂️

@puzzlepiece87 What if there's a committed minority of 25-30% on each side?
25/25 split still leaves a more ambivalent 50% majority.

We just need to offer the more compelling vision that meets peoples material needs
And I think we do have that to offer
