> Whether readers find these protagonists sympathetic or self-sabotaging, “Trump Country” writing leaves its audience to assume that Appalachians have not earned the right to belong in the narrative of American progress and are content to doom others to the same exclusion.
Hey Google, remind me to like, start reading group reading basically as it's announced not 2 days before
Hard to say! Presumably it wouldn't have been worth mentioning if it was like...an honest question? But it's also a single account so it's unverified. The prospect though is pretty grim
Double yikes. #doubleyikes

@GodEmperorDune i think real ones. i seem to recall him saying he wanted to fund research in cloning them because i remember hearing that and thinking "yeh, because that's worked so well in the movies"
> The Army recently rewrote its primary warfighting doctrine to account for the long stretch of fighting without victory since 9/11. “The win was too absolute,” said Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy of the old document. “We concluded winning is more of a continuum.”
a great way to not lose is to change the definitions of winning and losing
either: - Trump is an idiot and his lies are going to be taken as truth and screw up his former laywer's case - he's telling the truth and the NDA is voided thus the case would be closed for Daniels - we're in Bizarro World

Do you believe that the Fake News Media is pushing hard on a story that I am going to replace A.G. Jeff Sessions with EPA Chief Scott Pruitt, who is doing a great job but is TOTALLY under siege? Do people really believe this stuff? So much of the media is dishonest and corrupt!

Larry Kudlow, the White House's new economic adviser, talked to reporters today. He said that we're not in a trade war. “China is the problem. Blame China, not Trump.”
@GodEmperorDune they're certainly protecting their market, but you really don't want to offend all your potential allies in this fight if you want to challenge China on this. A combined effort with US, EU and other countries that have similar issues with China would be much more effective

Going back to the trade war with China, it's interesting to note the differences in intellectual property. While China is definitely subverting IP law, the obverse is that the US is perhaps too stringent with IP law.
There are certain microindustries in Shenzhen that don't exist anywhere else. Or at least don't exist outside of China because of the general disregard for IP law.
Which isn't necessarily a good thing because China does some pretty screwed-up things regarding stealing patents and such.
But it's interesting to see what a middle ground between the US and China in terms of IP would look like and what it would result in.

Yeah, there's definitely some room for the US to loosen up there
