Please RT @PortlandPolice throwing a flash grenade at journalists attempting to film a violent arrest. Video by… https://twitter.com/i/web/status/907662804416524288
Jesus Christ
CW: literally the police tossing a flashbang and the cameraman running the fuck away in first person
didn't watch the video but I don't think that he can if he wasn't born in states or smth
No, of course not. He's just taking a dump on Trump.
I can approve
pee tape covfefe send tweet
take that donald drumpf #owned #sheetcake
posting is like warfare
I want all those hats
01:47
Ugh
A current anti issue 2 ad is literally just pointing out that the initiative if passed would pay reasonable attorneys fees to the petitioners
Which feels like standard language
(it's the issue that would force Medicare to pay what the VA does in Ohio)
(it failed in CA so it has no fucking chance in Ohio)
(because California opposition couldn't run ads with the specific language "A CALIFORNIA CEO WHO RUNS AN ORGANIZATION THAT SELLS PRESCRIPTION DRUGS IS BEHIND THIS")
(politifact rates technically correct)

3 hours later…
04:44
@Unionhawk what the fuck
@Unionhawk because the drug companies effectively argued "if you try to limit us, we will fuck things up for the veteran population so quick"
so all the veterans groups came out against it
it really needs to be a country-wide or world wide thing so that they are forced to deal with it
but they would much rather sacrifice a state's worth of profits in order to make an example so other states stay in line
yay capitalism
05:46
@GodEmperorDune "Ah, so they offer peer-to-pe... oh."
@PrivatePansy yeah

6 hours later…
Actually there won't be any economic impact of brexit
Everybody knows this
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
inb4 "go to starbucks buy a venti pumpkin spice latte and tell them your name is 'global warming' to own the libs"
12:31
@Unionhawk tfw no pumpkin spice on atlantis starbucks
@MBraedley if coffee becomes rare, I will die
Coffee is a surprisingly primitive crop in many ways
In that it hasn't had the extensive development of, say, wheat
Yeah that's because it doesn't grow in america
Wheat has a lot shorter grow cycle and has been cultivated for a lot longer
12:37
AND it grows in industrialized countries
We cultivated it before we had industrialized countries
As in, 9600 BCE apparently
While coffee was somewhere 15th century
With Irma and Harvey devastation, Tax Cuts and Tax Reform is needed more than ever before. Go Congress, go!
ugh
YOU SEE
TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS
SO THAT... UH
HURRICANE
THING
HAPPEN
you see, if you tie noncontroversial hurricane relief to controversial tax cuts the democrats have to vote for it
it's science
and it'd be their fault not yours
13:01
Clinton: Comey letter was the "most important factor" in Trump beating me http://hill.cm/vZ4cgIq https://t.co/2pgkdSWRPN
FFS
If Hillary's book was called "I Should Have Shot Robby Mook Out Of A Fucking Canon" and just described that in detail it would be great
Hahah, yes
She might have won MI if she actually did that
It's just crazy that she's ignoring the fact that people just dislike her. It's totally fair to question whether that's all her fault, but basically completely ignoring that reality while campaigning was super, super dumb
Well you see
Both the far left and the far right are bad
we should be somewhere between the center left and the center right
@Unionhawk said the woman whose PAC literally used Heather Heyer's name to promote her god damn book
Yo, I read that email and went "Uh huh, yeah, okay…oh, oh no, noo no no"
@TimStone I actually don't think she's wrong on that count
It's certainly a contributing factor
It was definitely people's latent dislike for her that allowed any of those things to become An Issue for voters
13:14
This is true
It's almost like the least popular politician ever should just... stop... please...
(she isn't running in 2020)
I think the Comey letter just made people extra sure they weren't going to vote for her rather than make a significant number of people suddenly decide to not vote for her
That and all the sanders voters who voted for trump
(NARRATOR) 12% of sanders voters did this thing. 25% of clinton voters voted for mccain in 2008
@Unionhawk Anyone that actually does was either not actually a potential Sanders voter, or was simply voting for any non-establishment candidate.
The secondary trigger in last tweet is seen on the Carl-Gustaf M4 VR Experience, an opportunity for visitors at… https://twitter.com/i/web/status/907941588436963329
Hrmm
DID YOU EVER WANT TO FIRE A SHOULDER MOUNTED MISSILE IN GOLF-GRADE VR? NOW YOU CAN
13:31
Stevie Wonder: Anyone who doesn’t believe in climate change "must be blind" http://hill.cm/idgCuw8 https://t.co/BxFkofid6F
vintage fake news
That's actually true
Ever heard of the galaxy note 7
@TimStone (1) I thought Saab makes cars (2) Why does a global arms and munitions company need a Twitter account?
@PrivatePansy Because it's important that people have a positive view of the military industrial complex that runs the entire world
@Unionhawk it doesn't really explode. The battery overheats and ruptures its shell but that's no explosion
right?
13:43
But also yes Saab Automobile was a thing
Saab AB the aerospace and defense company had a project to design a small car and founded another company for it
That let them use "Born from Jets" as a marketing slogan
@PrivatePansy The real question to be asking is why global defense contractors run Twitter ads
Oh yeah I'm pretty sure I've seen BAH promoted tweets before
Or maybe it was SAIC. One of those.
Also motion to call them arms dealers instead of defense contractors
> The Supreme Court issued two orders blocking rulings from the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas invalidating redistricting plans for two Congressional districts in Texas - held by Rep. Blake Farenthold (R) and Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D) - and the Texas House of Representatives.
:|
@Unionhawk The motion to refer to them as Nicolas Cage passes
@Yuuki These were both 5-4 decisions
Apparently they don't have to reveal their votes but they can?
Wow holy shit they have 15 cosponsors
> Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)
Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT)
Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ)
Senator Al Franken (D-MN)
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA)
Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM)
Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI)
Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
Senator Ed Markey (D-MA)
Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR)
Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI)
Senator Tom Udall (D-NM)
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
notably missing: Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH)
👀
14:02
@Yuuki Not a great sign, but the rulings were delayed pending appeal by the state, so there's still a final outcome to be had
14:40
@TimStone Well if a blind man says so, it must be true!
@TimStone why why why why why why why why why why why do I insist on looking at the retweets reblogs?
(replies)
(retweets is another thing)
(close enough)
@Yuuki deep-seated masochistic tendencies?
@ToxicFrog I'm masochistic enough to work on a pure JS stack, and even I don't do that
15:36
@Yuuki Some context? Is this in a response to gerrymandering?
@Wipqozn Yes. Lower courts have ordered that Texas redo redistricting plans because they were too gerrymandered.
They're allowed to be gerrymandered, yo be clear
@Unionhawk That's dumb
But they have to be gerrymandered to get republicans to win not to disenfranchise black people
So like, political corruption is allowed by law? Because that's basically what gerrymandering is
15:41
Well, the lower districts ruled that the redistricting plans were discriminatory (i.e. gerrymandered) and rejected them and told Texas to try again.
But the Supreme Court has now decided that the rejection is too close to the October 1 deadline and Texas can go ahead with the redistricting plans.
Even though the first rejection was sometime last year I think.
Texas has just been appealing non-stop since instead of going back to the drawing board.
16:02
Guys
Did you know that Medicare for all would require government funding
Nobody is taking about this
I just learned this from a GOP video
Did the GOP also inform you that defense spending would require government funding?
That's Taliban talk
We're keeping America safe
@Yuuki FAKE NEWS! Defense pays for itself through mandatory end-user subscriptions (a.k.a. taxes).
I am happy that dsa calls brought the bill from Medicare for all with copays to Medicare for all no copay including vision and dental
16:23
So by sabotaging Obamacare, Republicans may have just sped up the development of single-payer/Medicare for all?
@TimStone 20+ years of being smeared by right wing radio will do that to a person
@Yuuki unlikely
entrenched insurance industry still has the power to block single payer
on the other hand if congress can 1) make trump stop sabotaging obamacare and 2) fix some of the easier problems with it, it will probably be good enough
@MBraedley OH NO NOT THE THEFT BY THREAT OF VIOLENCE
people seem to forget that most of "wasteful spending" is not money sitting in a pile somewhere, it's people's jobs and salaries. So cutting $billions out of healthcare spending will result in people getting laid off and congress is very scared of that
16:39
we're not protecting profits we're protecting jobs
This bill is also not going to pass, but it's an important part of bringing the party leftward and giving then a free message they can run on
@GodEmperorDune Yeah, I'd like to see some spending break-downs, but I suspect the largest single line item for all departments, even DOD, is salaries, and for some departments may even make up the majority of the spending.
Take it run on it it's way better than "DONALD TRUMP IS THE WORST AMIRITE"
@Unionhawk oh no doubt
You idiots tried that in 04
@GodEmperorDune burn down the insurance industry, cut defence, return tax rates on the rich to historical values, use the money to implement UBI? :D
s/insurance/health insurance/
16:43
@ToxicFrog love it, but probably not gonna happen
@ToxicFrog There's a reason I'm glad I work at a strictly P&C insurance company and not a health insurance company lol
Well, P&C and Life
But hopefully the days that health insurance sells main line plans in this country (the current bill keeps supplemental plans as a thing) are numbered
I have a feeling that number is... very large
Certainly more than 1500
Probably along the lines of 5000 days
17:11
> @DSACincy is discussing "Are Prisons Obsolete?" by Angela Davis at a brewery
@Unionhawk \o/
@GodEmperorDune It's also a really good brewery so
17:31
inb4 russia responds by banning microsoft, google, etc
Best Buy stopped selling their products too
I mean antiviruses are dum
and kaspersky loves destroying all resources you have available
mother of god
it's a russian bitcoin mining op
I knew it
I mean
unless people run kaspersky on their asics it's unlikely that they'll get anything but eh
17:35
I am actually a russian psyop to misdirect from the real purpose why it takes a lot of resources
@Unionhawk Also this book is not on google play nor is it at the library so
:/
it is on amazon
17:50
@GodEmperorDune Russia responds by removing Trump from the US, wait that's a good thing.
Also, I guess it wouldn't make sense in that analogy since the US is banning Russian-made antivirus and Russia would respond by banning US-made stuff not Russian-made stuff.
lmao Fired4Truth just made a fake google autocomplete "James Damore is (awesome, right, a hero)"
(the actual autocomplete you get is "James Damore is(land, lam)")
@Unionhawk ugh, can't wait until he gets into the Trump admin as heads of some science agency
what a dumbass
He'll be in charge of Title IX or something
I for one do not want to go to James Damore island
that sounds awful
@Unionhawk obviously there's going to be a difference if you don't have a space after the last word. Also, I don't get any autocompletes at all
Yeah I get nothing with a space
18:02
@Unionhawk same
I actually don't get anything with or without a space
also doesn't the autosuggest thing only work based on what you've previously searched?
so diff people will get diff suggestions?
I do know results in purple are previous searches but I don't remember if it tailors suggestions too
This makes the two possibilities 1) he made it up, or 2) he spends his time googling for articles about how he's awesome or something like that
i know a bunch of people have tweeted screencaps of them getting dumb stuff in suggestions and the replies being "ummm, that's tailored to you so you only have yourself to blame"
James Damore(rrung, ring saga)

1 hour later…
19:10

4 hours later…
23:00
@Unionhawk I love how casual that was
he had it ready, in hand, and waiting for the perfect opportunity
23:14
Yep
@Unionhawk he must have been disappointed the flashbang didn't activate on contact
giving the person ample time to look away
23:34
Meanwhile in congress_edits
It's official. We've got a comrade in the Congress. https://t.co/DdoAq7caIK
Like there's not a single doubt in my mind that we have an inside man working as a congressional intern
user15026
I don't get the significance
I don't get the significance (of this one)
Isn't carly rae jepsen that one artist that makes music and stuff
user15026
She's a singer of some flavour yes
23:50
I don't either but the entire series of edits spells out "GO ON (vulgar name of a leftist podcast)"
Which cannot be an accident
Apparently there were more edits later than I saw earlier
@Unionhawk why even would you pick that as a podcast name smh
actually
I give the seal of approval.
user15026
....but like...what does that even get us, really?
user15026
Like it feels too weirdly like some ARG or other hidden whatever conspiracy junk
user15026
what's the point
Nothing
user15026
23:52
I'd say I see, but I don't
A sense of "what the fuck is this real" but other than that
user15026
Part of me is like "why do we care about this crap when the world is on fire" but then agin I read romances to handle it, some people put secret messages in wikipedia edits.
user15026
Whatever gets you through
