tempted to say close to that prick who raped an unconscious women who's lawyers tried to say it wasn't rape because it was dry humping or similar bullshit
who's father called it "a couple minutes of action"

user15026
@GodEmperorDune I'm assuming that's at least part of it

@GodEmperorDune I wouldn't be surprised at all. He was supposedly a high schooler and university student during some of the assaults (haven't looked into them too much), and well, we all know how a lot teenager and collage kids view woman and "sex"...
Especially back when he was akid
christ just a few years ago a university in my city was singing what was referred to as a "Rape chant".
It was fucked
And I was just ranting the other day about some guys I overheard talking about "I like it when they play hard to get, makes it more rewarding"
just uggggh everything

sometimes it just make yoiu feel ashamed to be of the same gender as people like that

NEW #KAVANAUGH POLL: • Net support for Supreme Court nominee dropped 18 points among GOP women. • @realDonaldTrump approval fell 19 points among GOP women, with 68% approving and 26% disapproving. https://morningconsult.com/2018/09/26/republican-women-lose-faith-kavanaugh-trump-after-week-accusations/
When you're Bad For The Brand

@TimStone Isn't that a 12 point drop among Republican women?

11:14 PM
Yeah, the tweet is reporting net favorability
(+61 vs +42)

@murgatroid99 would also count the undecided which is what i assume is the grey middle area
oh wait there's a key up there

@TimStone I the tweet is badly written, because it says "approval", not "net favorability", but I see what it's measuring now.

It is, yeah, you have to carry over from the first bit

I'm not really sure that adding up the change in approval and the change in disapproval really makes sense, because they're necessarily highly correlated
(when "don't know/no opinion" is small)

Honestly I'm not sure about it either, but it seems to be a thing Pollsters Do, for whatever reason
I guess it just makes things easier in cases where a lot of people genuinely don't care, even if that's seemingly rarer now

11:20 PM
I guess it makes sense if you count "approve"->"no opinion" as one point, and "no opinion"->"disapprove" as another point

The Judiciary Committee released transcripts of calls with Kavanaugh about the allegations, and
We're at the point where a #SCOTUS nominee feels compelled to offer this defense
That's not even what was alleged? :/
Collins seems to be putting support towards subpoenaing Judge
In slightly lighter news,
Smash and grab at the Native Roots marijuana dispensary on Austin Bluffs overnight did a lot of damage, but all the burglars got away with was some oregano and t-shirts
(minus the damage, that sucks for the store)
Ugggghhh. Facebook confirms what @kashhill reported: Facebook is taking phone numbers given to them for two factor authentication and using them for ad targeting. Gross and completely irresponsible. https://gizmodo.com/facebook-is-giving-advertisers-access-to-your-shadow-co-1828476051

OK, I honestly don't understand the issue people have with ad targeting. Like "oh no, I saw something relevant to my interests"

Well, I think there's a lot to say about that, but in this instance at least it seems unreasonable to use the 2FA phone number for that purpose (but you shouldn't use it at all now, granted)

Why does that matter? They have the information anyway, what's the harm in using it to decide what ads to show?

If you give your phone number to someone for a security purpose, you feel it's expected that an outside party could use a list containing your phone number to show content to you?

11:35 PM
What outside party? I thought this scenario was giving your number to Facebook, and then Facebook using it

It just seems a bit off since you can willingly give over your phone number in your profile for this purpose if that's what you want

obvious solution here is to not use phone numbers at all in 2FA

@murgatroid99 Facebook is using it to allow marketers with your phone number to serve ads to you, specifically

Just another reason to remember: when the service doesn't cost anything, you are the product, not the client.

(or more likely a group of people to whom you belong)

11:36 PM
@murgatroid99 they don't have a great track record with controlling sharing marketing data with outside parties
such as cambridge analytica

@TimStone But that's still not information going to outside parties. They have your number anyway, whether or not you see the ad.

Another accusation against Kavanaugh that he was asked about by Senate staffers this week: an alleged rape on a boat in Rhode Island in 1985. Kavanaugh denies.
#5
also of note is that the accuser is a man who alleged that he beat up kavanaugh and judge after learning that they raped his friend on the boat

@GodEmperorDune I don't think there's ever going to be one he doesn't deny.

male privilege is gonna carry this one further

@murgatroid99 Right, but it allows them to target the John Smith instead of "any John Smith", for example

11:47 PM
@GodEmperorDune The interesting thing is that there are more likely to be records of this. If the two men in question were left with "significant injuries", there's a decent chance that there are hospital records

You could usually probably do that anyway but assuming you didn't put a lot of identifiable information up, using the phone number provided only for a security purpose in that way without warning might be disconcerting
