It's still pretty broad in my perspective, can you add anything else like the reason why you simply just want to be her friend again? What does friendship mean to you, between you and your ex? (what kinds of things you want to do, etc). I also edited to make the question clearer, and if you disagree, feel free to roll it back. — ElizB 1 min ago

@thesecretmaster @Noon looks like the issue with the regex is a length thing. I don't see in the code where the chat message is truncated (maybe it's in the .find_by call the ActiveRecord is truncating it?) but you won't be able to remove regexes longer than a certain length

@Noon err I don't see that in the add code, unless that's just something that happens when you do a find_or_create_by on an ActiveRecord...

@thesecretmaster I don't know nearly enough Ruby to verify that, but I trust you :p

@avazula I'd argue that intrapersonal skills relate to feelings that are internal and while they may influence how you act with others, they only directly affect you. OP here is asking how they can act around others to appear less "dominating" and annoying to those in the area. To me this seems more interpersonal than intrapersonal. They're asking how to change how they act with others, not how they can change themselves for themselves. — scohe001 1 min ago

Looks like I just forgot to add it to the print. It's still being stored, so no data lost, but I'll push the changes in a minute for the printing

@scohe001 huh how does that work for users who haven't commented before?

@Mithrandir This all it took. I absolutely just forgot to put it in when I was refactoring github.com/thesecretmaster/ips-comment-bot/commit/…
@Mithrandir this function is called first when we get a new comment: github.com/thesecretmaster/ips-comment-bot/blob/master/…
And after that we report the comment. I'm pretty sure that function sets everything up in the db
(looks like there's a find_or_create call to the User table on line 59^)

I can't push directly to master (for good reason, I'd definitely break things)

Hey, thanks for the answer! Can you please explain exactly why you think that this is a good idea? Why do you say to take this course of action? What’s the thought process behind this answer? As this currently stands, this is essentially a “Try this!” answer. We require that answers provide some sort of explanation for why they are suggesting this solution, and unfortunately, at the moment this answer doesn't appear to do that. — Noon 48 secs ago

Ah, cuz there's a zwnj in the created one.
Ok, here are all the regexes that have zwnj currently:
^(?!how\Wto\Wwrite).*(terrible|horrible|bad|excellent|great|good|nice)\W?(advice‌|answer).*$
^(?!.*how\Wto\Wwrite).*(terrible|horrible|bad|excellent|great|good)\W?(advice|an‌swer).*$
^(?!.*(interpersonal\.)).*((terrible|horrible|bad|excellent|great|g‌ood)\W+(adv‌ice|answer))
^(?![^?\n]*\?)(?!.*(interpersonal\.)).*((terrible|horrible|bad|excellent|great|g‌ood)\W+(advice|answer))
^(?![^?]*\?)(?!.*(interpersonal\.)).*((terrible|horrible|bad|excellent|great|goo‌d)\W+(advice|answer))
They're all about to get the zwnjs stripped from them cc @Mithrandir @scohe001

Regex.where('regex LIKE ?', "%‌\u200C%") is empty

Does that convert it into the Unicode character though?

Yes, "\u200C" will convert to "‌"

time for someone to ask a SE question

8:53 PM
I don't think those chars are in there

@thesecretmaster hmm I don't see it when I query with \u200C, but when I paste in the character I get it from the query:
sqlite> SELECT * FROM regexes WHERE regex LIKE '%%';
13|a|^(?!.*(interpersonal\.)).*((terrible|horrible|bad|excellent|great|g‌ood)\W+(adv‌ice|answer
(I entered the same regex on my instance and can't delete it now either)
Try pasting in those percents^

Are you sure it's \u200C?

Diffchecker says it's \u200B and \u200C

Aha, B

It looks fine to me but I worry you may get some naysayers arguing this is a phrasing request and you're asking us to make arguments for you. Not sure how you could fix it around that though. I'd wait for the Europeans to wake up in a few hours and judge it. — scohe001 13 secs ago
