@lila :)
morning

1 hour later…
08:22
Happy Kingsday!
09:06
@Tinkeringbell yay :)
public holiday?
09:37
Yeah.
Woke up, went downstairs and the dementor was there... So it's still Kingsday but I shouldn't have called it happy. Jinxed it.
09:49
a dementor huh
If a mentor teaches you things, does a dementor make you forget the stuff you've been taught?
What used to be a grandpa is now nothing more than a demented, abusive asshole that sucks all life and joy from a room... A dementor.

3 hours later…

@Tinkeringbell nice
@Tinkeringbell :/
@Tinkeringbell Oof. My condolences.

@Sarov To be honest... I can't wait until that moment. As harsh as it sounds....
13:45
@Tinkeringbell I think I did tell you that almost the same has happened to my grandma
She passed two weeks ago due to Covid
I like to think she's at peace now. She was especially miserable after grandpa had passed
It's... on the one hand, I'd be superhappy when it goes and I don't have to deal with it anymore. On the other, I know my dad still sees it as his dad, and I also dread the whole grief hullabaloo that's guaranteed to happen when it goes.
@Tinkeringbell usually better when the mind is not the last thing to go :(
14:05
Wait, it's better when the mind is not the last thing to go?
@Sarov yup
Why? Wouldn't it be better to keep the mind until the end?
@Sarov exactly
Its better to go lucid (and hopefully peacefully) than to lose your mind

I have a neighbour who has been slowing sinking into dementia and its... hard
@JourneymanGeek That... came out backwards, then.
Mm.
14:08
@Mithical I'm reading it as exactly what I meant, but language and I are not on the best of terms at times
It's okay, I got the gist ;)

Q: How to show support for remote colleague after his family member died?

Jared PRemote coworker had an immediate family member pass away. When this has happened to my in-person colleagues, a signed card from people around the office was a decent way to show support. But eCards seem a little... cheesy or perhaps insincere. Not sure. Any tips? I wish it was easy to show some k...

@Tinkeringbell How old is the dementor? By the way, one of my biggest fears is becoming such a person in my senior years.

2 hours later…
17:21
@lila In his 80s. And perhaps you can make a living will? Something that states that if you get diagnosed with dementia, you want euthanasia?

3 hours later…
20:03
@Tinkeringbell No I cannot, euthanasia is illegal where I live.
20:32
@lila Ah, that sucks :( migrate first? :P
20:59
Or just take up bungee jumping.
@Tinkeringbell Hahahaha not so fast, I am planning on haunting this world, including this chat room, for a few more decades :D
@Sarov -.^
