3:47 AM
+437 the highest number of cases in a single day. Over 300 belonged to that Tablighi Jamaat.

2 hours later…
5:42 AM
@AJ9 Oof. but is that because they are tracking them down, or are all these people getting seriously ill?

@AJ9 that makes no bloody sense
Did someone move in the lines and coughed on everyone's face?

@M.A.R. covid 19 has up to 14 days incubation time

@Magisch that too

@Tinkeringbell Over 2000 people attended that jamaat and around 1000 got stuck due to the lockdown. They were still living in the mosque so the police took them out and admitted over 200 people who has corona symptoms and the rest are quarantined.

I'm wary of these sort of rumors since they often seem to lead to antagonizing different groups down the road

5:54 AM
There was a statement from a Mawlawi of that mosque that Muslim brothers don't need to follow the lockdown because it is a part of trap to divide them.
Can't find any English version of that statement to link.

@AJ9 yeah, such things also happen unfortunately

The government is famous for not doing much for people but now they are doing this people are getting away from it.

Meh, don't be gloomy

6:57 AM
Morning!

7:24 AM
Afternoon
A Tablighi Jamaat religious congregation event that took place in Delhi's Nizamuddin Markaz Mosque in early March has emerged as a new COVID-19 virus hotspot after numerous cases across the country were traced back to the event. The congregation, attended by people from across India as well as other countries, was later found to have been a coronavirus hotspot. About 200 people have shown symptoms of the disease of which, 53 people have been confirmed positive in Delhi so far. Over 300 cases, including six deaths across the country were found to be linked to the event. Tamil Nadu alone reported...

2 hours later…
9:36 AM
"Hey, it's manager. Just calling to hear how you're doing" "I'm doing perfectly fine. How about you?".... 25 minutes later... :P

10:18 AM
@Tinkeringbell can't watch my employee, I need to call him every 30 minutes so I can check if they are not sleeping :P
logic

@CaldeiraG Nooo, we talked for 25 minutes... seems he's taking this a bit harder than me :P
Lesson learned: Don't ask the manager how they're doing :P

@Tinkeringbell lol :P
i probably don't have calls with my mom that last more than 2 minutes

Oh, mine just texts me 'Dinner'. :P

:P

11:17 AM
OMG
They changed the official paper we need to go out of our houses
Now we're allowed to go out for a walk if it's less than 1km away from our house and for less than an hour!
I can go to the pond in front of my house tonight!!

to ponder existence?

(Don't get me wrong, I won't do this everyday ... But once a week seems pretty reasonable (there's literally no one there) and so useful for my mental health!)

@avazula people were already doing that even if the recommendation is to stay home at all times
i noticed this on the weekend

@CaldeiraG But in my country, we weren't allowed to do so until very recently ... or else you'd get a 135eur fine.
I recently learned you have to get fresh (from outside) air for 30' at least three times a week to be able to produce one of the neurotransmitters that keep you sane o_o

a lot of people in my city really dont care about the restrictions
it makes me angry
they have to have police patrolling the city parks because people kept holding mass barbecues and picnics there

11:23 AM
@Magisch oh my o_o

11:42 AM
@avazula :) That sounds lovely!! Enjoy! And don't forget to bring a fishing rod and net ;)
@Magisch Honestly, the attitude over there seems to suck and makes it even more amazing that you're having less deaths than us.

meanwhile nordrhine westphalia is sucking in a wholly new and innovative way
the state legislature there is currently considering a law allowing them to conscript people with medical training to work in hospitals in case of a pandemic without pay
with large criminal penalties if they refuse
thats one way to solve the low pay induced mecial personnel shortage, I suppose

@avazula Here they have the same rule but: cops can't be everywhere; the most you would get is a warning because people would say their place is right there or something; even if it's confirmed that you're breaking the rules, if the cop is nice enough they'll issue you a warning and tell you to go home straight away

@CaldeiraG oh. I mean, we have to carry an officially-issued paper to prove where we're going, why, and when we left home, so ... not really easy to cheat :/

@avazula not necessary here

And the fine is given automatically if the slightest thing is off (which I understand, it's just to show it seems stricter than in your country)

11:52 AM
I take a 5min walk everyday to go to work at 7:20am so there's no one around
my bus only takes 3 people now
people take their cars more often

I go out once a week, to go grocery shopping. I haven't filled my tank in a month o_o I usually spend 2 to 300eur per month on gas!

@avazula :o, we have 2 cars and both get 30€ per week so 60
about 300eur too

I do 300 to 500km a week (300 for work :) )

my dad about 300 km and my mom much less than before xD
I do maybe 1.5km per day on foot
XD

12:11 PM
I saw a tip to try and start your car, and leave the engine running for a while, to avoid drained batteries? Might be helpful if either of you look into that :P

My parents drive every day :P
I saw that too
Unless you don't intend to use it for more than a 1 month you're fine without turning it on

I spent a total of 60€ on bycicle maintenance since I bought mine
pretty good deal for transportation

Cases: 9034 (+783) / Dead: 209 (+22)
Hospitalized: 1.042 (+316) / IC: 240 (+10)

Hospitalized: 5.784 (+625), Dead: 1.339 (+166), Tested: 14.697 (+1.083)

We got +25 recovered, nice

12:21 PM
I don't know how many recovered, but there was a short clip of an old man leaving the corona ward of a nearby hospital in the news today... with everybody cheering/clapping for him.

That's nice

I hope he liked all that attention, yes.

yw :p

2:13 PM
java.lang.ClassCastException: Cannot cast java.lang.Integer to java.lang.Integer

Anyone ever heard of that happening?

castigate the variable into working to solve this

XD
It's a freaking Integer! How can you not cast in Integer into an Integer?!

maybe the integer objects to being cast
on a more serious note putting that into google yields nothing immediately useful

Exactly.
It's probably some weird Magik running on Java thing/bug/hell

illogical construct / arcane undocumented behavior / nearly complete ritual to summon the adversary, he comes

2:17 PM
@Tinkeringbell coughs JAVA coughs
I'm sorry for you though, that sounds awful

@avazula It's not my problem... It's just crazy enough to share here :P

hahaha
Good then :)

yo dawg I heard you like integers so I attempted to cast your integer to an integer but it failed
4
- Magik, 2020

Something like that :P
There's other weird stuff happening that no one knows why and if I ask why no-one can teach me :/
I'm missing a great teacher.

one or more of my managers have officially lost it

2:23 PM
?
We need more information to be able to properly compile that statement...

he came in to tell us that actually coronavirus kills nearly no one, way less then the flu, and that it's all a hoax
and when I told him I know for a fact that it's not true and that I have friends in new york whose city is falling the hell apart right now he told me to go tell them to go outside and film their local hospitals to prove it's a hoax

Daf*ck..
There was a graph presented here yesterday that clearly showed deaths due to corona here are still waaaaay beneath the flu spike in deaths we had 2-3 years back... and they're also below the usual flu spike still...

But THAT'S BECAUSE WE'RE STAYING INSIDE!!!

I didnt really know what to say so I just waited until he finished talking and then redirected the conversation to buying more headsets

More headsets are always a good idea :)

He also said the people (tm) won't endure this for much longer and that the government knows there will be a coup if they don't remove restrictions after easter so he expects them to be gone by then

2:28 PM
Honestly... I would recommend not even trying.
To listen or to talk.

^^^

in his opinion they're doctoring photos of full hospitals and morgues and present empty wagons as full, and all that
not sure what the government has to gain in his opinion but whatever, i'm not gonna ask because I'll lose it

Mmh, looks like someone who'd declare that the 20th century's most horrible things didn't happen

And that the earth is flat.
And the moonlanding never happened
And mom isn't hiding the chocolate.

I know a surprisingly large amount of people who are convinced humanity never sent a person to space and it was all staged

2:38 PM
I still hope the Russians or Chinese get there one day, and take down the American flag :P

I wish one day we can have commercial and hassle-free space travel of some form
I most likely wont live to see it though, if it ever happens

I'm not sure what I have to see/do in space...

never wanted to be on the moon?

@Tinkeringbell It's most likely entirely white by now.

@Mithical I missed the great Discord Mithstery this morning
:p

2:41 PM
@Magisch Ehh, not really no. I kinda hope they'll save the space travel and intergalactic conflicts/dystopias until after I'm dead.

@Magisch >.<

@Tinkeringbell for you have become death, destroyer of worlds?

@Mithical Still. America seems like the kind of country that would be butthurt enough by that to just go plant a new one ;)

@Mithical It was at least 2.5x the usual amount of Mith

@Magisch I have no clue why I did that.
I also thought this morning 8 * 42 would be somewhere around 200.
My brain is broken today.
nobraining.

2:44 PM
@Tinkeringbell I just hope that we don't start colonizing other planets until we can settle that, like, Mars doesn't belong to Spain or whatever.
@Magisch It was a MithOverflow again

@Mithical I think Mars should belong to Monaco. They're small, they can use the extra room.

Ultraspacecaptialism
it's a coming

Plus, it's filled with rich people that can actually afford settling mars.

I'm not sure I'd want to be one of the first to settle mars as a rich person
there's always the distinct possibility that something can go wrong hard and then you're on mars, with help taking months or years to come

Frees up some money, doesn't it? :P
And it's a good way to make sure they plan for things going wrong hard, and try to avoid them as much as possible.

3 hours later…
5:28 PM
Random question. Does anyone else ever get an accent stuck in their head?

Yes. Then I've got someone shouting SCOOTTTLAAAAND! in my head and speaking unintelligibly all day.
....and I don't even know anyone Scottish.

Good to know I'm not alone
My wife and I have been watching Derry Girls on Netflix, and now my inner monologue is speaking with a really think Northern Irish accent

5:56 PM
That's happened to me, especially one time when I had an English Language teacher in high school that was clearly from somewhere in the UK. Was pretty weird to realize that my inner voice had her accent.
