I like trolling occasionally. And I usually win ;) because no one figures out it's me.

I try to stick to harmless trolling though, don't like hurting people. Not even feelings.

One of my best ones was when I built a statue in Minecraft in front of my friend's base in the shape of a particular male body part. Upon encountering the statue said friend immediately assumed it was another (mutual) friend who did it and grilled him on building such statues. I still giggle when I remember that.

They cook the pizzas and sit them out in a display case, you pick which pizza you want and they pull out a slice and put it in the oven for a couple of minutes to warm it up

They mostly make cheese pizzas, or their specialties. If you want a topping, they'll put that topping onto a cheese slice before putting it in the oven

What does a slice cost? A whole pizza is €6.50 here, so I'd expect a slice to be about a dollar or two. Is that right?

I'd like to buy pizza by the slice. I can never finish a whole one. Such a waste. Sometimes I put them in the fridge for lunch the next day.

It was a new concept to me when I moved here, but I really like it. The one bad thing is that prices are very inconsisten. There are some places that do $1 slices of cheese, that's about the cheapest. The most expensive I've seen is there's a place that charges $6 for one of their specialty slices. The average price generally follows the price of a single subway fare, which is currently $2.75

I prefer the dollar slice places because the pizza is not noticeably worse than the more expensive places

We had a ton of people participate in Winter Bash this year with 266,000 hats awarded throughout the network. Thank you, everyone! We couldn’t have done it without you.

There were 31 hats available this year (well, 32, but one had two versions so we’re saying 31) and no one collected ‘em all. The two users with the most hats across the network collected 30 each. You can check the leaderboard for a full site by site rundown or this round-up for the whole network.

Ugh, the user story I'm working on has me publishing events to kafka, and my events are failing the schema validation. Unfortunately, the validation methods only returns true/false so I have no idea why my event isn't valid

The schema is big enough that it's pretty hard to validate by hand

Ah, apparently one of my coworkers wrote a schema validator that logs field by field validations. The output from running my event object through that validator is ~86k lines of text that I need to parse through for errors

Yeah, I had to pipe the results of running my test into a file just so I could open it in Vim to look around

Fun fact, if you pipe to a file from a docker container, it writes the file back to whatever directory you launched docker from (or maybe the mounted directory, they're the same for me), but there's no reference to it within docker

I just spent 3 hours chasing through all of that to find out that the only problem I had was that I was supposed to convert the event id to a string
