Well, I'm not sure about 'very' short... :P But either way it's going to mean maintenance for me: Short hair means more brushing and hair products, so more washing. But at least it'll dry faster.

Longer hair means I can easily put it in a ponytail, jaw clip or bun, but it's also more work to wash/dry and it's also kinda hot when sleeping :P

When I had them long, I needed an hour to wash my hair, end half of that was to untangle them (before the shower, after the shower, after having dry them a little)

The line that stood out to me that made me think that it was a "what should I do?" question was "She's flying in later this week and *I'm not really sure what to do*, I don't want to hurt her feelings." That made me feel that they didn't really decide on the course of action that would make it so they would break off contact without hurting feelings. There's many ways to do that. Without knowing more, it's hard to decide on what would be the most successful course of action.
There's my train of thought.

I have an arrangement with a friend of mine - I send her pictures of the local street cats, and she sends me pictures of her fluffball of a dog. I think that works out pretty well for everyone.

Kinda wild, we let her run loose in the garden (it's walled in on all sides, so nowhere for her to go to.

And then the last summer she had I had to put eyedrops in her eyes because they thought it was inflamed (it later turned out to be some kind of malicious tumor)... and that was a struggle....

She loved being petted with feet though :P

I'll be sitting the neighbours rabbit this year again, and I heard they can get depressed when on their own without anyone around. They have a single rabbit, and I don't think it's usually a problem with three small kids giving it attention, but I definitely noticed it acting a bit strange when I took care of it last year, like it almost jumped me the last few days... and did not much else during the day but lay in a corner of it's enclosure.
