I think an age indicator is good, it means we can have multiple questions that are the seemingly duplicates, but may vary greatly depending upon age, same with culture. The tag doesn't have to be mandatory, but it does help search engine results
@Catija precisely agree. Or if it's a party for teenagers - but we need to carefully define the age tags, as you said in your answer. What is acceptable to some can be offensive to others and people's perspective on ages changes as they age :)

@HDE226868 I don't think it is specifically culturally american - it's more 'dorm-room politics'. I would personally leave it geographically untagged that way it can be answered from multiple cultural perspectives helping more people and you can accept the answer that is culturally appropriate to you/ more fitting to your situation?
