Q: Should parallel questions where you are the subject/object be allowed?

aschultzI'm not sure if I have the best title here, but I recently thought of a pair of questions, and I'm not sure how to pose them: how to make a good first impression? how to deal with someone who made a good first impression, but they quickly changed? I think these two are very interrelated becau...

lol
yep I agree if everyone posts one post per day (on average) that would be good. I'm having the day off today from posting.

Q: Should tags be pluralised or singular?

Q: Should we allow questions on dealing with depressed/suicidal friends/colleagues?

Crafter0800As commented on in this meta post, if someone is seriously considering self harm or suicide, then we are the close the question and direct them to the relevant sources. However, what about people whom need help talking to people who feel like that? Should we take the same stance and just refer th...

Q: Should tag descriptions start with "Questions about" or "To be used"?

Crafter0800A lot of the current tags start with "Questions about..." (see saying-no), but also do many start with "To be used..." (see close-friends). I personally prefer the "Questions about" starter, however given their presence I feel many others prefer the use of "to be used", to have consistency I'd li...

Is it time to rename this chatroom? The polling seems pretty clear.
10:52
@Randal'Thor I think it should be done after we enter into public beta
Till the end of private beta, I think it'll be good if the site name and chat room name is same
Private beta is the stage where we're trying to establish our 'brand'. The most important part of that is fixing site scope, but the chatroom name is also (a more trivial) part of what makes the site recognisable.

12:53
@Randal'Thor @SagarV The description for the chat room is visible below the name when it's in the list of chat rooms. It's smaller than the name, but still there. I think people won't have a problem understanding what site it's for.

@SagarV I disagree... heck, the room name for A&C was changed within an hour of the site existing...
It's not as if it's a permanent change.

^ This.
"how do I work with a diverse group of people to name a chat room?"
room topic changed to The Awkward Silence: General discussion for interpersonal.stackexchange.com (no tags)
@Randal'Thor Done. :P
I love how there's an awkward silence in the room right after you change the name :-P
16:20
. . . As well as right after you made that observation.
16:31
Clearly this room is aptly named.

Q: Some guidelines to deal with posts

Sagar VThis site is in private beta and also we have some new users. So, I think these details will be helpful for them while dealing with posts. Many users are from other sites and are always active. How to deal with posts. This post contains the following details. Reviewing Flagging Other

Q: Do we want theory questions here? What kind?

Gregory Avery-WeirThis question was closed for being too broad: How to be accountable for your actions but not responsible for others' needs? I tried to constrain it to be about a very specific dilemma concerning interpersonal skills. The one comment explaining its broadness didn't provide any explanation of that ...

I can only awkwardly say "What a self defeating name for Chat Room".
Et tu brut'e?
@John I think that's part of the fun. :D
@Catija I think you are write of course.
@10Replies No I am not jumping on any band wagon. I am simply speaking from my heart. I would have loved some more upbeat name. I guess not "Living Room", since that got trounced. But something about living life better.
Even more ironic
@Catija I agree that the best way forward is to make it enjoyable. Book by the cover and sort of thing.
21:18
You were jumping on the bandwagon of awkwardness by awkwardly saying something in the appropriately named chat room. Making it even more ... --ironic--?
As I attempt to awkwardly explain how my brain comes up with clever jokes
*awkwardly attempt
I'm going to shut up now.
21:33
@10Replies ............ ....................... ................. (Don't know how to reply to that; now that's awkward).
I'm just here to help
@10Replies As you have been. I have enjoyed your posts.
I was going to make a self-deprecating joke, but, I changed my mind.
Here is a "Thank you!" instead
And without and pause: You are welcome.
@Catija What a Freudian Slip: You are write of course! I have no idea what that meant, but all I can say is I actually meant right.
@John I can fix it if you like... but I knew what you meant.

Too much has happened... I honestly can't get myself to figure out what's going on anymore -_-
23:01
I once saw one of my best friends try and stop.
It was while I was trying to not land from a leap.
Things didn't work out so well.
@Zizouz212 Not knowing what's going on is my natural state. You too?!
Can happen.
Literally me.
Haven
't been here since Wednesday...
@humn It sure can
@Zizouz212 Yup, stuff's been goin' on.
I feel like things have just exploded.
23:05
Anyone here is a survivor!
Look at it like an opportunity to do a lot of upvotes.
True...
Well... If people get a rep boost, you're welcome :)
It just ain't fair. I've seen so many go under. Hmph, maybe anyone lucky enough will survive those less lucky. But it just ain't fair.
Meanwhile I go engage any alter ego on the street and, yes, have actually given the shirt off my back (on a warm day).
@humn Huh?
And that's why you live in igloos in Canada :P
23:13
@Catija , yeah a little cryptic
I still don't understand the parameters of "interpersonal.stackexchange.com" but I explore every interpersonal opportunity I can.
@humn Well, the site parameters are still being defined.
That's what we're all here for :-)
What do you mean by parameters?
(btw, @humn, Contact still ongoing, if you'd rather attack than defend)
@Randal'Thor , thanks, that horse threw me. Rare event, but when it happens I admit it.
@Zizouz212 , "parameters" = "boundaries"
Oh...
23:18
@John I welcome any votes anyone wishes to give me (provided they're not later invalidated as serial voting).
We're still figuring those out :)
@humn I'm sorry :-( Maybe you'll enjoy it more after observing a few games from the sidelines.
To work an oldie, "How do you know when a Finn/Suomalainen/shy likes you?"
"When they look at your feet instead of their own."
I've heard that one as "how can you spot an extrovert mathematician?"
Works!
23:31
Ooh!
I should just ask a whole bunch of questions about working with other cultures... And self-answer!
Language!
Sorry, your thingy kind of made me think of that :P
To quote a philosopher: "We understand each other to the extent we're alike. We learn from each other to the extent we're different."
(That philosopher is Pappy Pentius, Not found internet.)
(Also not actual name, but close)
Feel like I'm going to get a Proofreader badge just by rejecting "introvert" -> "introverted" edits on that one question :-P
23:46
Hey!
Grammar!
Then it would be an introvert!
I'm a retrovert. Grew up with color TV and movies but still like black and white more.
(Actually, guess my first visions were black and white without a choice.)
(As for "black" and "white," those aren't my favorite terms.)
