You don't. Find someone else. Or better yet, don't worry about it. — user428517 53 secs ago

morning
@AlexRobinson about that XD
I don't understand ruby or ML enough for it :P

8:42 AM
i mean you understand more than me soo
just heard a notification for a meeting in 15 minutes from someone elses laptop before it popped up on mine

9:07 AM
@AlexRobinson happens everytime with emails
:P

O.o ... I had a meeting this morning, so I opened up Microsoft Teams with my company account... Saw a message in Teams 'this meeting is cancelled', so I thought 'Oh, nice, that means I can go do some work'.
Was a cancellation of a different meeting (but with a very similar name).
XD
So I just got a call, complaining I wasn't there... oh well.

@Tinkeringbell stuff happens :/

Yeah... this was just a tools check for a training tomorrow, so it was kind of a waste of time anyways. I had another meeting that halfways overlapped with it too, so ....
I'm kinda glad I didn't go ;-)

9:42 AM
as i've had a lot of meetings on teams recently, some of which have been rescheduled or cancelled; I recommend waiting for someone to start the meeting before joining

9:53 AM
Yeah, I didn't see anyone start the meeting though...
Might've been that I was using the webapp, but usually I get a 'X started the meeting' notification.

10:15 AM
that could be it, i know the notification you're talking about and so far i've never had it not show up when using desktop app

1 hour later…
11:36 AM
ah yea :)
my pc is too slow to show notifications in time haha

11:58 AM
That's bad XD

12:30 PM
by some miracle i've actually managed to end up with a current gen intel quad core laptop

1 hour later…
1:39 PM
@AlexRobinson For work, or for fun?
(important questions)

1:49 PM
for work, for fun i have a very pretty pretty 8 core desktop with a variety of rgb

2:28 PM
hi

Morning.

hello badeline

@AlexRobinson Even better :D

2:58 PM
@Tinkeringbell missed a few calls this way but normally what i do is that i connect minutes before the meeting so everything is ready
@lila o/
dual-core gang cpu :P
hexa-core at home

in my previous employment i had a dual core from like 2010 and i lost hours of work due to programs crashing, general slow loads and stuff

@CaldeiraG I have a core i9 9900k and a ryzen 3770h (its a laptop core) on my desk :D

3:16 PM
i bow down with my water cooled ryzen 3800x

the core i9 is water cooled. The Ryzen is a NUC clone

i mean, i feel like not watercooling a chip that hot is just irresponsible lol
though ryzen chips will mostly run fine on stock cooler iirc

@JourneymanGeek nice :)
@JourneymanGeek oh you got the clone? good
i5-3340m at work, ryzen 5 3600x at home

that is... a painful work laptop

@CaldeiraG yup
It's a snappy little thing
Swapped out the SSD for a spare and added more storage

2 hours later…
5:06 PM
So. Um.
I estimated a feature request at 1-2 months.
I think I just did it in 3 hours.
Whoops?

5:58 PM
Take a good hard look at the requirements again before reporting :P

6:11 PM
TBF, the requirements were always simple. The reason for the long estimate was that the request was a modification to a gigantic ball of spaghetti.
I just learned that apparently the request was already 99% done, just with a minor bug and a piece of code to turn the functionality off because of said minor bug.
Also:
Me: (Reviewing code) "Rename this variable - it's a mailHandler, not a piece of mail."
Coworker: "Yes sir, as the pedant desires!"
Me: "Oh, you want to see pedantic? I'll show you pedantic."
Coworker: "No! Oh god no... What have I done. Why?!"

I might have a *bit* of a rep as a pedant when it comes to reviews.

2 hours later…
8:34 PM
@Sarov I mean, pedantry is good when it comes to reviews! Especially if there's no real coding standards, and you're just figuring them out as you go :P

Yeah, I'm not ashamed of my pedantry.
