I was supposed to give a 30minute presentation to some 15yo intern. It only laster 10 minutes. I feel a bit lame ^^'

@Ael :| Well sometimes there just isn't enough to talk about, to talk for 30 minutes about something? Did they give off the impression of thinking you're lame too?
(And did you hear anything about covid restrictions there yet, I think you mentioned that was today?)

Ael
@Tinkeringbell They usually make announcements either at 6pm or at 8pm, so there is no news yet. But some people are saying they won't make the announcement today but Saturday isn't. In any case, everyone is betting on a full lockdown before Monday. They said yesterday that "the curfew isn't enough" so I can't see what else they could announce beside a full lockdown
@Tinkeringbell They didn't really gave this impression but they are 15 years old who have to spend a full week doing nothing except seeing how people work. So they probably have been bored for 4 full days by now x) (I know I found it a bit boring when it was me who was the 15yo intern)
And I was supposed to present my work in a simple way (which I did) but when someone knows nothing about the subject, it's harder to know what to tell them. Especially when they are not all that much interested in the matter. Like sure, I could have teach them what TDD and cucumber was, but do they really want to know?
So, I just show them the "Wow" stuff. Like "see, the computer is doing things on its own". But I just don't have that much "wow" stuff to show, I guess ^^

2:30 PM
Sounds like you did well enough :) Especially if there weren't many questions after.

Ael
Well, I guess

Q: Dealing with an acquaintance who constantly corrects someone who is more knowledgeable than her

I_learn_as_I_liveLately, I am being presented with a rather tedious problem. I am a male individual who is technically trained in two areas of physical sciences, both academically and professionally. Person A is a business graduate of 3 years and almost 6 years my junior. I've known person A since 3 years ago; ou...

@Ael I'm sure you did okay, at least what you describe here sounds as such ;)
@Ael And this sucks. Hopefully there'll be a statement soon so you know what'll happen.

Ael
@Tinkeringbell Yeah. Though, if they don't announce a lockdown today, I'm just gonna go ahead, assume a lockdown change my train tickets and go to my parent one week earlier. That's probably the only way I will be less stressed about the whole thing

3:05 PM
@Ael That does sound like it could be a good thing to do regardless of whether there will be a lockdown yes :D
Are there any serious downsides in going a week earlier?

3:22 PM

@Tinkeringbell The price of the train tickets mostly ^^ Also the food I will be eating at my parents' (I finally found something that works for me in regard to food when I'm on my own, so I'm a bit sad I won't be able to experience more of it in the coming weeks/months)
@Tinkeringbell That's good news! The non-responsiveness of the review queue is annoying me every time

@Ael Ah, of course... you'll be staying at their place as long as lockdown lasts again? (I somehow thought you were going for a 'short' visit). Yeah, those two are some serious downsides :(
@Ael Fingers crossed ;) Maybe we'll get more reviews now that people can do them from mobile, then ;)

Ael
@Tinkeringbell It was only supposed to be a month "visite" with a week of holidays included (one week of work, doctor visite, one week of holiday, one week of work, doctor results, going back of at the end of the week after that). But if there is a lockdown, then I might not have the right to come home, so it will be a two month "visite"
@Tinkeringbell I mean, one can always hope ^^

@Ael Ahh. Yeah that's going to be loooong :(
@Ael Dream, too ;)

Ael
6:21 PM
@Tinkeringbell So, apparently they announce today that they will make an announcement "at the end of the week"... And they also basically just said the same thing they said yesterday. So that was really a useless announcement. I guess I should book my tickets now, before the prices go even more up

@Ael Yeah, that sounds like they're just postponing the inevitable :(

Ael
Yeah. I mean, since Monday it's all over the place that there will be a lockdown. I understand that, maybe, they are "just" trying to mentally prepare us so that there will be less protest, but I still find it rather annoying.

6:47 PM
It is. All the rumors do here is make me feel like 'If you knew it was coming, why didn't you do it earlier? Now it's gotten worse while you were debating and leaking the news that you would do something!'

Ael
Yeah, that

+1 I have loaned my father quite a bit of money over the years, over 10 grand (so paying back in a lump sum would be much harder), and he took a similar approach like a trip or two. Not only in his own way did he pay me back, I got to spend quality time with him, which is priceless. — cela 11 secs ago
