@CaldeiraG Hahahaha you know, on my university I also don't have equal sympathy for all of the restrooms, and thus if I know I need to take, mhm, you know, a bit of a longer reign, a longer duration of royal office on the porcelain throne, I tend to specifically go to the throne rooms in the buildings of less populated faculties, usually on the higher levels :D

Oh yeah, I may be a vegan but this insect is really getting on my nerves ... I'm trying to come back a bit more often though, and not just do moderation behind the curtains hehe
I tried finding positive sides of this and I remember in the beginning I was reading a lot of articles saying that the insect significantly reduced car traffic, etc. which made air a lot cleaner and less polluted, then a few months later I have learnt that it's not as simple and one-dimensional, actually the total pollution went up because of all this waste generated from disposable masks, gloves, etc. and as I go out of house I see a lot of plastic gloves and disposable masks thrown away and...
... laying all around the sidewalk, the lawn, it's so gross and sad.
I feel the ecology is only worth caring about when you feel you can do something for it. Otherwise it's just a plain world of sad
it's one of my motivation for being vegetarian btw. I also considered eating insects as an alternative at some point. I could have if it wasn't broadly impractical for legal reasons in France
Aha okay now I understand thanks, I know insects are nutritionally rich and also efficient in a way that would make them cheap, I've read articles long ago about how people in remote countries are eating fried ants, etc. and they basically taste like crisps, if we were raised to eat insects it would be more natural.
The EU is being extra slow to regulate, for sanitary reason as they claim (there is indeed some risks associated with bugs but not more than regular meat) but I suspect the real problem is that the west have no real incentive to open a market where they'd know most of it would be imported.
I've tasted some dried crickets once. It's kind of good and if you spice it or cook it it could be a fine meat replacement
@ArthurHv I was introduced to sea food, namely shrimps, as a child - and I guess it helps me now about not being that totally grossed out thinking about eating insects, they're both not that distantly related being both anthropods and shrimps visually are resembling water worms even if that's not accurate taxonomic classification, but I still don't know if I would be able to eat insects.
What helped me is to rationalize a lot about what's eating meat vs what's eating an insect. Both are really gross. You just have more habits with one. But if you get past that just to try once, usually you realize it's not that terrible and you try some others.
@ArthurHv About a year ago, "Nature & Découverte" (translation = Nature & Discovery?) was selling insects to eat though. But yeah, that's the only place I ever saw those being sell.
@Ael I only draw in black and white, it's because I only dream in black and white and I only dream because I'm alive, and as a quote unquote "responsible adult" I don't have colorful pencils, etc. in my home :D I'm kidding of course.
@Ael At first I wasn't really interested where it was from, I assumed it was from a cartoon which I have never seen, then I grew curious and it turned out it is apparently from video game.
@Ael But yes it's extremely hard to tell whether someone is joking or not over the Internet, it's sometimes hard even in face-to-face, on text communication it's even harder, next time I will try to remember to more explicitly mark that I'm kidding, I don't want to broadcast saddening ideas ^.^
@Ael Oh and also if that bit about dreaming in black and white and being alive doesn't make sense, I'm sorry it's just a fragment of a song I like, I do that sometimes, I mean include short fragments of song lyrics if they match what I say, but yes I do indeed only draw in black and white but I dream in 10 million colors ^.^
@Ael In my head it sounds intriguing and smart if I include seemingly-related song lyrics into my messages from time to time, but in reality I guess most people just think I might be out of my mind :D but I can't help it, the chat name makes me constantly feel the pressure that I should only be either awkward or silent ^.^

@lila I understand how one could feel pressured when talking in public/with stranger. Though, I don't understand how one could feel pressured into being akward. I usually feel pressure into being the opposite of it ^^ Like: "look smart", "don't make a fool of yourself", "don't let anyone have any material they could use to mock you" (sorry, this got dark very quickly ^^)
@Ael It also was somewhat of a joke :D but please don't worry, you're not the only person who doesn't immediately recognize whether I'm kidding or not, even in face-to-face people have problems getting whether I'm serious or just kidding, I know I could be unintentionally cryptic even though I'm trying my best. And no I don't think it's dark, I guess just normal human thing to discuss things like that and especially on IPS chat.

@lila I though it might be, but unless I am an 100% sure something is a joke, I will still answer like it wasn't. I find it safer. Also, some people tend to say things jokingly even though they mean it. So, when in doubt, I always answer as if the statement was serious
@lila Well, you could imagine an alternative universe where people not being awkward would be bullied for it instead of the other way around. Then people would definitively feel pressured into being as awkward as possible

@Ael I often do the same. People sometimes get a false feeling I'm simple-minded (or sometimes I feel so when they say "You're always so first degree"). I get a real feeling they are snobs. Still feels a lot better than laughing at a perfectly serious statement

@ArthurHv Oh I think it's also a powerful thing to do if someone tries to make a joke at your expense, by taking it serious you are explicitly showing that you don't even acknowledge the presence of the joke and thus you completely dismiss it as invalid. I hope you understand what I mean.
Yea, I imagine. I also became a bit sensitive to what Ael pointed out as "they mean it and pretend its a joke". So for example I'm not finding as much fun in racist or ww2 jokes as I used to (don't get me wrong - I just used to enjoy they were politically incorrect and I was making fun of people taking the joke at face value, rather than agreeing with it)
And also it works even better if you first disarm them by subtly or even explicitly revealing that you actually understood the joke and it didn't amuse you, and then you insert a serious response.

I'm not really afraid people make fun of me, I'm more afraid they believe I'm in a moral system I'm not, which is why not getting the joke make sense - it doesn't create that ambiguity

I'm proud because I finally figured out what was up about that purple light filter you mentioned yesterday, I said it didn't make sense but I just had an epiphany because I clicked that purple light filter actually doesn't pass purple, but instead blocks purple and white minus purple is green ^.^
