Good morning IPS people
Just FYI, I'm in a boot camp all day, therefore I won't be very active in here today. Have a great day y'all :)

Good morning people! :)
@Tinkeringbell Are you here? You are my guru when it comes to on and off-topic things and I have questions regarding this question

It's a bit iffy. They're not just asking about 'that guy', but a more general question about how to tell if a relationship seems to be moving on/someone is expecting more? So it's not really mind-reading maybe... and we do have a bit about 'explaining why people behave the way they do' in our help center. I'd just wait and see where your close-vote ends up, I think.

Q: How to be a friend to someone who is depressed and isolated

OlleI have an old friend who has, over the past few years, gone through several cycles of depression, burnout, and isolation to the point of barely leaving his room. Often I don't find out how bad it's been until afterwards. I'll send him a couple of texts over a period of weeks or months with invita...

Alright but I also have a problem with the answers. They mostly don't seem backed-up to me but I'm unsure about how such a question should be back-up. Do you have any meta link about that?
Also, what kind of answers are acceptable here? They seem to go all however the place, ranging from "this means that" to "just ask him"

@avazula Happy booting xP

Hello everyone! :)

@ThZ Hello.

I was born in germany and I have never heard anyone call elderly men "Onkel". The only person I would call "Onkel" is my actual uncle and in that case I would still follow with his name ("Onkel Markus"). But this would be equally unusual as calling my sister "Schwester Lisa". So I usually don't call anyone "Onkel", it seems like a joke and is not appropriate when addressing a waiter. — stimulate 1 min ago

Good morning :)

Hi!

:)
procrastinating on my internship work. there's not much direction so far, and i have a meeting later today so I guess I could do some organization...

Hello!

:)

Earlier today, I tried to take an online appointment with a specialized doctor. I saw that the next appointment available was in April. I thought it wasn't that far, then I saw it was on April 2020 ^^

3:26 PM
whoa, that's a long time to have to wait for a doctor

wow, geez

Yeap ^^ Unfortunately, in France, people that want to be diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum often have¨to wait 2 or 3 years overall

That's awful

yikes, that's a long time. things can happen through that long time

Yeap, we are lacking a lot of doctors specialized in autism :/ Thankfully, I probably have a way to get my diagnose quicker, even if it means that I will have to make phone calls ^^

@Noon even though I don't have autism, it seems that both my insurance and my status as a deaf person is affecting how soon I get my adult ADD diagnosis. I was diagnosed with it when I was young, and I would like to get a re-diagnosis to get proper assistance if any, but everyone I call says they can't test me because it's an "auditory" test...

Everything you said earlier is terribly sad :(

the auditory test thing is 100% bullcrap. all I need is an interpreter there to understand the testing
and if I want to pay out of pocket at a local center for psychological care (I go there for counseling) it's something like $200-$400 USD.... crazy stuff. I can't pay that much

@ElizB Wow, that sad that they don't do more for deaf people. There is probably a lot of other deaf people in the same situation as you, not knowing if or when they will be able to get diagnosed :/ At least, even if I know it can take long, I still know it will happen eventually

@Noon i started the process about 4 years ago and the only one i found is the one that I have to pay out of pocket

4:01 PM
@avazula I'm talking about going to see the doctor in my home town where I know I can get an appointment relatively quickly. I don't know what you where thinking about ^^
@ElizB Wow, that really sucks :/ I will have to pay a lot to get my diagnose by this doctor (or any doctor) but at least I have the choice to wait 3 years and get diagnosed in a center where it's free if I want to

@Noon No no, I guessed it was that, indeed. It's just terrible that you need to find other ways to get what you need

@Noon I might call my doctor again and see if anything changed

@avazula Well, you are in the same situation as me, so I guess it's terrible for both of us ^^
@ElizB I hope it will work out

@Noon Same here, it feels like I'm overcoming some of the symptoms sometimes but other times it's hard

@ElizB I can relate to that. Lots of courage to you!

4:12 PM
@ElizB lots of love ♥

@Noon Thanks! :) Right now because I'm not exactly knowledgeable about what direction to go in, I'm procrastinating on work and such. I organized a bit but scrolling on facebook seems more attractive to the gratification monkey running around in my brain now
I feel more appreciative of my possessions because I got rid of more things yesterday. I took out all my miscellaneous kitchen stuff and re-organized them and got rid of too many extra steak knives I had something like 6-7 extra knives I knew were poor quality and not used much and crowding in the other knives

@ElizB I wish I could be of some help :/ And to the monkey in your brain, I'm currently talking here instead of working so... ^^ (but it's the end of the day, my brain isn't up to thinking anymore)

@Noon my day is just about getting started. 11:18 am here, so i wanna keep going till noon for lunch, then I have my weekly counseling at 1pm, woohoo! I love going and just figuring out what is on my mind
he helped me make a game plan for the end of the semester when i was really stressed

@ElizB That's great that you feel like that. None of the counseling I had in the past was really successful (and some were truly terrible). Finding a good counselor seem like a lot of work sometime

@Noon i've had a total of maybe 6 counselors since I was 16
been 9 years so far

4:25 PM
I hope this one is good and you will be able to keep it, then
Need to go now, see you later :)

@Noon travel safe ♥

<3

He's pretty good. I don't know about keeping him for a long time but we'll see. Okay, be safe! :)
