@Tinkeringbell He picked Mike Pence as his VP ... That's a pretty strong statement.

Hi @apaul
@Tinkeringbell what happened to your Mario hat?

@D.Hutchinson Hello

@apaul you think Trump will get impeached soon?
I don't think he'll through 2018
last*

@D.Hutchinson Sadly, I doubt it.

I see

2:57 AM
Nothing seems to stick to the guy, no matter how ridiculous or embarrassing things get he always does something even more ridiculous the next day...

yeah ...
@apaul this stack exchange site is really active
and, relatively drama-free
compared to, say, math.se and other sites
would you agree @apaul?
I think interpersonal.se has potential to be the most active SE site, actually

@D.Hutchinson Eh, we have our drama, but we try to keep things friendly regardless?
@D.Hutchinson It does seem to be taking off pretty quickly, which I hope is a good sign.

true
yeah, I think so too
it just makes too much sense to have an interpersonal skills Q&A site
like, long overdue, as I had told ... I think mithandr
people can be so technically and professionally skilled but just completely, socially inept because they don't work on their interpersonal skills
like myself
:(
hi @TheSnarkKnight

Slow and steady wins the race sometimes. Growing faster than we can manage comes with it's own issues. We're still hammering out our scope, policies, and so on... Most sites can afford to take their time with that stuff, here things can end up being a little more immediate, because we we hit the HNQ list pretty consistently and we've gained a lot of new users/traffic.
Anywho... Gotta drive catch you later.

HNQ? Is that based on the number of user views per question?
Ok, cool - drive safely @apaul
Hi @Catija :)

Q: NEED TO LIVE MY LIFE RIGHT HERE AND NOW

SPKTRUTH Good Evening People ~~ So sorry for being long-winded but I appreciate any advice you can give. I am an African American female age 54. In high school I dated a good bit. In my 20s I dated, had relationships and a marriage engagement in my early 20s. That engagement did not last so I dated so...

5:51 AM
@ExtrovertedMainMan Hmm... Atlanta isn't the gay capital of anything... Not even of the South from what I've heard.

6:21 AM
@apaul I made a hat!

@Catija oh?

It's a gingerbread hat.

Nice.

A: A Moose, Some Silly Putty ... And A Desperate Plea For Help

CatijaFor this hat, I wanted to put together something that reflects my experience on Stack Exchange. So, I looked at my top sites, the sites I've been using for the longest time. I went in search of something that combined Movies & TV, English Learning, Cooking, Meta, Cooking, Interpersonal Skills,...

@Catija Very you, I like it.
I've been tempted to do something bad/amazing with that question...

6:26 AM
:D Thanks.
The question does specifically say that it has to be appropriate for children...

Almost want to put the effort into standing my mohawk up and snapping a pick. Rebel with a cause. Message @Shog9 5 times in a single day.
Sorta like the Hairboat from last year or the year before?
Too mean?

@apaul :/ Amusingly, I just asked a question about that on Community Building... not related to you at all... communitybuilding.stackexchange.com/questions/2876/…
Also, I think he'd go nuts... I can't imagine how many pings he gets every day.

@Catija Aww I aggravate you, cause I like you ;)
@Catija Most of the point lol

@apaul I'm actually serious, though... I'm not talking about you.

@Catija The price of fame?
Or rather "leadership"
I'm going to quote this badly, but "the more orders you give, the more orders you have to give"

6:35 AM
Eh... I have a difficult time when people seem to want to use leaders as their personal question-answering service...

Just sayin, if you micromanage people end up looking to you for everything.
Really not trying to be an ass about that, I appreciate your help, but people do it because you're always within arm's reach band you always have something to say.

That's really not what I'm talking about, though... I'm talking about people who realize they have an avenue to address someone and exploit it every time.
I'm not even talking about myself. I don't mind people pinging me. I'm available because I like to be able to help.

@Catija Who are you talking about then?

The question was triggered by a user in the Tavern... but I've also poked people in other rooms that they should just flag and move on. They shouldn't be telling the mods what to do.

@Catija Eh, sometimes things need to be said though...

6:43 AM
? I'm talking about "Hey @person, why does X feature exist?" ... Instead of them just asking in general in the chat room or even on meta if they want a more stable answer.
There's not really any reason to address the specific person.

@Catija Ah, that makes more sense.
Seems like that's a matter of answering that way. Ask meta, is a solid answer.
That was a huge adjustment coming to IPS. I was accustomed to an established meta culture, didn't really use chat before coming here.
Started chatting because it was the only way to know what was going on behind the scenes. An awful lot of the arguments we have here would be more productive there.

Yeah.
But it's difficult to argue in comments :P

That's why people should write answers.

Lots of answers spark arguments...

@Catija but they're arguments that can be voted on, reconsidered, edited and voted on again.
Way more productive than argument here that goes around in circles and is lost to the ether after an hour or two.

6:51 AM
I think that an overhaul of meta is really necessary... something more designed for discussion, like threaded conversation where responses can be made to specific answers...
answers on answers on answers... threaded.

@Catija Eeeek! No! That's a forum a dirty word on SE.

Heh... I've seen CMs use "thread" I think? But, yes, I know... but meta... doesn't really work in the SE normal format.

@Catija it works amazingly well on established sites. Or perhaps on technical sites?
I cut my teeth on SO, the meta culture there was pretty solid, but it's much more black and white there.

It depends on the question, I think. Some questions simply attract more argument than others.

On SO we had the benefit of experience. All arguments had been had a hundred times. Nothing new under the sun, so you could always reach back to the last dozen times that issue got dragged out.
I think IPS will get there eventually, just gotta get through the growing pains first.

7:00 AM
Yeah. :)
OK, I'm exhausted. Going to bed.
Night!

Night night

1 hour later…
8:18 AM
I am interpersonal!

8:38 AM
How do I tell my mom to stop asking me the same question every minute when she knows the answer will mostly be the sames ones from before?
Example:
Mom to Me: Henry do yo want a sandwich.
Me to Mom: No
Mom to me: Henry do yo want a sandwich.
Me to Mom: No
Mom to me: Henry do yo want a sandwich.
Me to Mom: Yes
Mom: Makes sandwich I didn't eat it. "Why did you make me waste the food?"
Me to Mom: I said yes because I was getting annoyed by you asking me every minute.
Mom to me: I just want to make sure you are not hungry.
Me to Mom I am not feeling hungry don't ask me again once I said no don't keep asking.
Makes no sense.
Is this even interpersonal?
CleanUp! (Nevermind I think I am too late for that.)

9:31 AM
Until you have demonstrated to her that you are responsible for all your own requirements, this is perfectly normal behaviour for a parent

She knows. ;)

Q: How to Invite shy acquaintance to a talk without her friend?

Sachiko.ShinozakiAround 2 weeks ago, I begun talking regularly to somebody at school (let's call her Judith) who I only knew on a "face-level". She is a friend of one of my friends , who I'll call Emily. While I have a quite regular contact with Judith and Emily (around 5 times a week), I don't really learn much...

Q: Romantic Interest Isn't Great At Conversations

deiviux90I've been speaking to this girl at my university for a little over 2 months now. It's very easy to see that she's shy and introverted, but she is a really sweet and interesting person. Over the course of these two months, I've caught myself overthinking, not just about how she responds through te...
