19:00 - 22:0022:00 - 00:00

22:00
Profession could be washer.
Like a washerwoman.
I considered that but discounted it because it seems like a strange way to word it
To whale is also a profession.
But it's definitely a possibility
Like a whaler.
@msh210 Oh, a whaler
I think Washer > Whale just slightly
HTM
HTM

!join
Hi HTM, you'll be joining team red!
@DJMcMayhem probably
RED: Mithical, El'endia Starman, HTM
If I had to guess one for organ, it'd be cell, though I'm not sure why.
Wanna try washer?
Sure
WASHER
22:02
WASHER is Blue
You are out of guesses. It is now Red's turn
Nice.
HTM
HTM
@El'endiaStarman fill me in
So that probably discounts WHALE, leaving our backlog at just CELL
@HTM a roq8vzx yfp9v89fgbsdjk
22:03
@DJMcMayhem if that.
(It's been a messy game)
@HTM Sure, gimme a few moments.
@msh210 Alright, leaving our backlog at a tenuous ~CELL~
@DJMcMayhem I have a few tenuous cells.
HTM
HTM
@DJMcMayhem AAAAAaaaAaAaAaAAAAAaAAaAAAaAaaa
22:05
Red: Queen of Hearts (3) -> SUIT/R, COURT/Y
Blue: Profession(3) -> PILOT/B, CONDUCTOR/Y
Red: Infinite Improbability Drive (3) -> VACUUM/R, CHARGE/B
blue: Alpine horn(2) -> HIMALAYAS/R
Red: violin (0) -> FLUTE/R, CONCERT/B
blue: Organ(2) -> TUBE/B, (profession) AGENT/B, (profession) WASHER/B
@HTM Yep, you got it
@El'endiaStarman oh wow
Thanks! :)
HTM
HTM
22:07
Are we not considering WHALE for “Improbability”?
@HTM I did mention that.
HTM
HTM
Ive read H2G2 so I know the ref
Neither North nor I were particularly familiar with either Alice in Wonderland or HGttG.
@El'endiaStarman I've read HHG once, but a long time ago. I'm only just familiar enough to understand the reference
HTM
HTM
22:08
@El'endiaStarman Lucky for you I’ve read both
Fantastic!
HTM
HTM
But I don’t see any Wonderland related words unfortunatelt
If COURT was Y, I suspect the connections are gonna be kinda tenuous for that
Oh! PENGUIN for “Improbability”
”Ford, you’re turning into a penguin. Stop that.”
Red: stabber (unlimited)
So then, WHALE and PENGUIN for improbability?
HTM
HTM
Oh, BACK for this one and “Queen of Hearts”
22:11
Maybe FORK for 'stabber'?
HTM
HTM
@El'endiaStarman Yeah, those are the two I like the most
Alright, WHALE > PENGUIN > BACK > FORK so far.
HTM
HTM
Maybe BACK first just to get one safe one out of the way
BACK is Red
HTM
HTM
22:13
Cause there may be other H2G2 references I’m missing here
Then the others?
@El'endiaStarman wb
HTM
HTM
If we got this all right, we’re only missing one “Queen of Hearts”
Maybe SPINE? Works for “Stabber” too, though tenuously
Should I go ahead with WHALE, PENGUIN, FORK?
I thought of SPINE too. Putting that at the end of the list.
HTM
HTM
22:16
Go for WHALE + PENGUIN. I don’t really see any other stronger references to H2G2
WHALE is Red
PENGUIN is Red
HTM
HTM
22:16
Yaaaay
HTM
HTM
@Mithical See, I do read books sometimes ;-)
Is it possible that Queen of Hearts -> CELL?
HTM
HTM
OK, so I’m guessing we’re down to one “Queen” and one “Stabber”
22:17
I like FORK for 'stabber'.
HTM
HTM
@El'endiaStarman Thought of that too, a lot of solitaire games call their spaces “cells”
Like Freecell
HTM
HTM
But before we go anywhere, which words should we avoid?
As in clued by a 0 or is likely Blue
BOW for sure. That was 0-clued.
Blue might have two "alpine horn" words left.
HTM
HTM
@El'endiaStarman TUBE’s probably one of them
22:20
Probably.
HTM
HTM
SPINE for “Organ” maybe?
Also, CHARGE was a donation, right?
Yes
As well as HIMALAYAS (R) and CONCERT (B)
HTM
HTM
Probably TUBE + CONCERT for “Alpine horn” is my guess
Yeah I’m good with FORK and CELL, unless you see something better
@El'endiaStarman ^^^
@HTM You could go for 'em
HTM
HTM
Just being a good teammate :)
22:25
I'll guess 'em.
HTM
HTM
Here goes...
FORK is Red
@El'endiaStarman Ah, sorry I thought you might have gone afk
22:25
CELL is Yellow (neutral)
It is now Blue's turn
HTM
HTM
Yikes, so damn close
Pheeeeeeeww
We still have a shot. Blue could mess up on their last word too!
@msh210 I'm thinking Spine++ for organ
22:26
Would be par for the course....
HTM
HTM
Maybe “Queen” -> CAPITAL?
Or I could’ve allowed Blue to win...
And maybe London? I think of really old churches as having organs, and London probably has a bunch of really old churches, but that's tenuous
Blue: Length(1)
No reason to speculate. If we get to go again, Mith would easily be able to do a 1-clue. :)
@HTM Maybe "Queen" -> BOW. Because you BOW before the queen
Alright, YARD obviously
HTM
HTM
22:27
@DJMcMayhem Queens go to SCHOOL heartily
And then I guess spine because I was suggesting that for organ and we got a 1
HTM
HTM
Hey, maybe LONDON was ours cause of “Queen”
HTM
HTM
Also connections to Carroll
@msh210 Any objections to YARD/SPINE?
HTM
HTM
22:31
We have a hung jury!
Given the time, I'm going to assume msh fell asleep.
Alright, how long should I wait? I don't want to hold it up if they're gone or asleep
@Mithical The first version was funnier
HTM
HTM
@msh210 Will call
@DJMcMayhem The first version was proof that I should also be asleep
HTM
HTM
(5... 4... 3... 2... 1...)
22:32
Alright, I'll go for it
YARD
YARD is Blue
SPINE is Blue
You are out of guesses. It is now Red's turn
HTM
HTM
Good game! Came down to the wire
gg, that was scary close
HTM
HTM
!finalbord
!finalboard
@HTM "Good" lol.
22:33
It got really close
HTM
HTM
Yep, it was LONDON
It was london. Makes sense
20200206

Playing second, 1v2
Blue words: Tube, Agent, Yard, Pilot, Concert, Washer, Spine, Charge
Black: Web
nice clustering of the words.

I have a couple of professions, and one profession is yellow:
Pilot, Conductor/Y, Agent, Washer. I don't see a good way to avoid the Conductor.

Tube/Yard/Concert = Alpenhorn? The length matches, but it's not really found in concerts. Flute is red.
Red still thinking.
Church organ is even bigger, and used in concerts, but it doesn't avoid flute (which will be a pain to do, so maybe just wait?). Also the alternate meaning brings in Cell/Y at least. Migh

BACK, VACUUM, WHALE, FLUTE, HIMALAYAS, PENGUIN, LONDON, SUIT, FORK.

Assassin: WEB.

HIMALAYAS + LONDON = "location"

PENGUIN + WHALE = "suit"

Hmm, SPINE is blue while BACK is red. Interesting.

PENGUIN + SUIT = "tuxedo"

I should be able to do a playing card clue with BACK, SUIT, and LONDON...

Might hit COURT, but it's yellow. BACK is a little sketchy. On the other hand, it's useful to give the sketchiest clue first, so that there's a backlog... ;)

(gives "Queen of Hearts" clue)
HTM
HTM
22:33
Probably shoulda kept the Wonderland connection in mind
Msh pushing me back towards the "washer" I discounted made a huge difference
GG y'all

I’ll be up for one more in like 10 mins or so
o/
22:36
\0/
I'll be back online in like half an hour.
@JohnDvorak Yard + Spine == Football Injury (If that's legal?)
not really legal, though I do like the idea
Assuming that's read as US football, not normal football
Hmm, is there a way to word that that would be legal?
I'll be back online in a few hours, but for now I'm o\
I'd consider just "Rugby" or "American football", but that's not very strong for Spine
22:39
Yeah, that's very strong on YARD, but less on SPINE. I'd probably go for SCHOOL before SPINE
@JohnDvorak Although I'm guessing rugby doesn't measure things in yards probably
What would you guess for "meter"?
Not sure. Probably YARD and LONDON. Although I did suspect london was red after HTM mentioned it
Why London?
Because it's a place that uses the metric system
I admit, it's not that great. But I definitely wouldn't think SPINE
understood, thanks
22:42
@DJMcMayhem Actually for that matter, I don't even know why US football is measured in yards. That's literally the only thing I can think of that uses yards
Is there a connection between meter and spine?
It's about the right length, isn't it?
HTM
HTM
I think just changing the enumeration on “Length” to 2 would’ve done the trick
Ahh, I see. Don't know why I didn't think of that
Maybe I would have thought of that because I already wanted to go for spine
gotcha, thanks
Hmm... Google says the spine is 71cm long
HTM
HTM
23:00
Rewave? Or is it GAmen time?
o\, but I'd love to play later this evening
23:49
i'm down
sorry I left :/
