I was wondering if there's a possibility of "soft advertising" on here. By that I mean when I post a puzzle for the community, I can mention in the post that it's from my magazine.
True enough. But I'm not entirely comfortable with setting a precedent for things like that, and depending on the specific phrasing, it may be more annoying than anything.
I just feel like there's this inherent animosity to advertising when in reality the companies trying to advertise can actually help enrich the community experience.
I mean, if the post is littered with links to your magazine, then I'd obviously say no. And like I said, advertising will likely need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Okay but I guess I need to know it's "officially" fine. I did try that one time and my post was force-edited by a member to remove mention of my magazine.
Sandbox stuff: We have one for riddles. It was made mandatory at one point, which was... contentious, to say the least. Making additional sandboxes for other puzzle types is something we'd be happy to do, though.
**Ad stuff:** We had an... incident... with another user advertising like this several years ago. It was significantly more hostile than this, but it makes us hesitant about allowing this at all.
There's no precedent for this on other SE sites - Puzzling is the only one with so much focus on questions, and *original* questions at that. So handling things on a case-by-case basis is pretty much our only option at the moment - advertising isn't *intrinsically* bad, but it can easily be abused.

Case by case basis is all I ask for from communities. So many just outright ban advertising even if the advertisers can provide a service or enrich that community in some way
@Topple Yeah, we're generally pretty relaxed here. And that line you gave me sounds harmless. I'm not going to say it's 100% okay or anything - like I said, I'm extremely hesitant about this due to some previous incidents - but that sounds fine to me.
Deusovi then I insist you discuss with the mods. I just want to give the community a free puzzle now and then and let them know I have a magazine full of unique puzzles they might enjoy
@Deusovi Right, a couple of times I taught you guys new words in unfairly difficult Contact games, while passing multiple times a minute at the start because I can't guess anything.
