There are plenty of free web-servers, bandwidth shouldn't be a problem and even a domain name can be got if wanted.

As of those five seconds, multiply that by how many games we start per day here...

You've already done so, twice. First imgur, then puush. Self-hosting is just as easy, and isn't bottlenecked by the hosting speed

If something about the free hosting services blows up (downtime, out of quota, they close their service for good...), you're kinda ... in bad position.

@JanDvorak Why would someone self host images? That too on a personal computer? That too, just for sake of a game? Leave out the security stuff, I see many other disadvantages of that..starting with bandwidth/size/maintenance/power I am fine with imgur/puush together..if there is a way to detect the failure with puush, jump to imgur.. that's it. Why complicate things?

The last image by Shiro weighs 12 kB. If we assume 100 viewers per game, that's 1.2 MB upload per image. The Twitch stream uploads 3 MB per second.

We are using puush... but puush can be a major slowdown ... or discontinue its free service, or die temporarily

If self-hosting is implemented, it can still be disabled if Shiro is to be volunteered to someone who doesn't want to / can't run a webserver.
