Q: Trying to find a fantasy anime where three teenage girls had gem powers

Anime finderI think one of the girls had a red gem but when they all did one super attack it was a giant super gem. There were two villains, one boy and one girl. I watched it in like 2018. They had hair color and stuff based off their gems and could turn back into normal girls after the fight. I watched it ...

Q: How can a worm digest a harvester?

ShadeIn the Dune films a well as the book (IIRC), there is a situation where a worm swallows a spice harvester. E.g. in the film of Villeneuve: To the extend of my knowledge, worms mainly feed on sand plankton and smaller worms, i,e. organic. How can they digest someth...

Q: Why was this story id question closed as a duplicate? No evidence of concurrence from the author is present

Organic MarbleThis question was closed as a duplicate by "community bot" without concurrence by the author that it actually is a duplicate. At least, there is no evidence of concurrence. Is there a reason why? And how does "Community Bot" get to do this against site policy? Book where a boy finds out he's the ...

@Slartibartfast Obviously the user accepted a proposed dupe, but there's no answer or even a positive comment from OP to visibly show that. Should we post the answer and ask OP to accept?
Reopen the question?

Q: Evidence that meeting the T.C.B.S. society resulted in 'a strong dedication to writing poetry' for Tolkien?

TsundokuThe section of the Wikipedia article about J. R. R. Tolkien that discusses the author's youth contains the following paragraph (emphasis mine): In 1911, while they were at King Edward's School, Tolkien and three friends, Rob Gilson, Geoffrey Bache Smith, and Christopher Wiseman, formed a semi-se...

Q: Was Alfred one of the people who trained Batman?

Kevin yokaIn the comics, did Alfred train Bruce Wayne to fight before he left to train around the world like he did in the Gotham TV series?

@DavidW I'm working on applications that are part of the HST, JWST, and RST archives.
Oh, very nice. Very cool stuff.
Does that mean they've nailed down the RST enough to spec its data storage already?

Q: Children's fantasy book about a girl traveling to another world

RobI’ve been searching for this children’s book for literally over 25 years. I was probably about 10 years old when I visited the Orem Library (Utah) 1993 ish. I include the place on the off chance it could be a local book. The librarian gave me this book telling me that I would probably love it. I ...

So, having watched The Peripheral, I decided I would reread it, for comparison purposes.
I didn't hate the TV show, but parts of it were a bit of a let-down, and doing a reread it becomes clear why.
I understand that when you adapt a book for a movie you have to leave a lot out, but I was hoping that wouldn't be the case when adapting a book to a 7-hour series.
(In theory it doesn't need to be the case, because based on the standard rule-of-thumb of 1 page = 1 minute you'd get at least 80% of a 480 page book in a 400+ minute series.)
Some parts, like the intro sub-plot of Deirdre and the Patchers, I can see leaving out, even though it leads into dropping Rainey, which in turn leads to reducing Wilf to a 2-dimensional character. But they completely rewrote major parts of the plot, to the extent that except for setting it's practically a completely different story using the same characters.
And I really liked the original story.
@DavidW I was going to say we don't need to reopen as the default assumption should probably be that the OP knew what they were doing when they pressed the "that answered my question" button. But then I saw this comment:
No that's not it I'm not sure of the skin or hair. I do remember his step mom wants to take over and he falls in love with his maid and she helps heal him after he transform. — Siah5 5 hours ago
Question is, what is that replying to? The extant comment from FuzzyBoots suggesting the Dragon's Eye, or the now-deleted dupe-proposing comment from Turamarth?
@Randal'Thor I think that's a reply to Fuzzy's suggestion, but it is unclear.
Perhaps I should undelete that comment just for transparency.
Done.
Let the story-ID experts decide as they will.

That seems fair, though my own inclination is to just let it slide. :)
