Q: How did Donatien convince the servants to kill for him?

AdamantIn the French series La Révolution, Donatien invites a number of relatively minor nobles to his chateau, where he has a number of servants grab them from behind and strangle them, one for each noble. It would seem difficult to convince a single servant—not even soldiers, but seemingly footmen or ...

Q: What Vampire Movie is This

Christy LoveThe title of the movie is the vampires name. I believe that last name began with a C. The vampire was a cop/or a former cop. He helped a girl in a bar and this girl helped he when she found him near death in an alley.

Q: Old stop motion cartoon about a group of kids solving some cases about monsters

R.L gasterI don't really remember, but this was a creepy cartoon, similar to Scooby Doo. Some kids were facing some monsters in their life, but unlike Scooby Doo, the monsters were real and I remember that some of those monsters were real people. I think the art style was stop motion. and I remember that t...

Q: Did the Emperor knew that Omegon was found ? If so, when did he learn that?

Itération 122442In the primarchs series, in the book about Alpharius, we learn that Alpharius is the first primarch found (but kept secret). Later in the book, Alpharius finds Omegon. His legion is now complete. However, it is not said if the Emperor was told about this. Moreover, considering the nature of the A...

@AncientSwordRage Hmm.. I don't think it should have been closed as opinion based certainly. I though it could potentially be a duplicate of "What, exactly, is Vibranium able or not able to absorb?". The question is asking about Vibranium vs the mind stone, so the broader question should answer that

Q: In "The Deed of Paksenarrion", what race is the Kuakgan?

BasyaIn "The Deed of Paksenarrion" by Elizabeth Moon, Master Oakhallow the Kuakgan in the grove at Brewersbridge is a recurring character and a major force in Paksenarrion's life. He has unusual powers and a special connection with nature. It is not clear to me what "Kuakgan" is. Is "Kuakgan" a title...

Fagmieyah Jaffer-PetersenI remember reading a book about human females kidnapped from earth. Dumped on a planet on top of a sacred mountain. Q: 20 or 21 Primarchs (participating in the Great Crusade)?

Silly but TrueOne of the foundation elements of Warhammer 40k lore is the idea that the Emperor created 20 Primarchs, who were snatched from Terra by a Chaos vortex and scattered around the galaxy. This was published at least as early as 2002 in the Index Astartes. Eventually, all 20 would be recovered, lead t...

@AncientSwordRage You could argue that if something isn't absorbed it would be deflected :P but that's getting a bit too pedantic
@fez There are also reflected, nullified, transformed and transmitted. Since we're listing all the alternatives to being absorbed. :)
You know, I feel embarrassed about the attention my quick answer to that comic book question is getting. Did it go HNQ? I didn't see it in the list.
I don't get how this is actually a better question than the one about who has been killed in the Mos Eisley cantina. Just for starters it generally takes a lot less power to deflect something than stop it; a whole lot of martial arts is based on that single fact.
@fez there's also stuck on.
Oh, good one, I missed that!

I don't think Han Solo absorbed any carbonite.

Q: One Character is in openly unrequited Love with the other, and periodically politely and respectfully reminds them

BrondahlI definitely remember having watched some fairly long-running episodic TV show, where 2 characters who work together clearly had a close relationship. Q: Does "My" in My Little Pony refer specifically to anyone?

Ekadh Singh - Reinstate MonicaIn the My Little Pony Universe, who (if anybody) is the "My" in the "My Little Pony"?

@DavidW I'm seeing your pinned comment from December 10 about "Sturgeon's law squared" but you probably mean "square root" since 95% is less than 1.
So the shield doesn't have to be more powerful than the Mind Stone in order to successfully deflect an attack. And then you need to establish what kind of attack the Mind-Stone-augmented-spear is making, and how that matches up to the power of the Vibranium-alloy shield.
ISTR that the shield is particularly good against attacks with a vibrational mode, and maybe the spear's attack is primarily vibrational?
Maybe the spear attenuates the power of the Mind Stone, so that the attack is not conveying the full power of the stone.
Maybe the Mind Stone isn't inherently good at physical attacks in the first place.
@Spencer But think if he did! He could no-sell a lot of damage then. Can you imagine Ren stabbing him with his lightsaber and it taking long enough to burn through Solo's skin that he has time to get out of the way?
@Spencer Don't be embarrassed, it happens. I have an answer that I spent a lot of work on that got only a few upvotes, and another that I whipped off in just a few minutes that got more than 40. You never can tell, and the unexpectedly good ones just make up for the ones nobody but you cares about. :)
@Spencer Technically I meant good = sturgeon(sturgeon(stuff)); having to apply the filter twice to extract the stuff that's not crap.
17:56
@DavidW iteration. To be pedantic, I think Sturgeon used 95%. This is your brain on Math.

> If Y ⊆ X, then f: X→Y may compose with itself; this is sometimes denoted as f².
Technically it's the functional power, but it looks like "f squared" so that's the shorthand we used.

Q: Short story identification - young man driving a manually controlled car gets death penalty for minor infraction

NickI'm looking to identify a science fiction short story. I originally read it in highschool during the 1990s, but it was likely published much earlier, possibly in the 70s. Q: How much were the Force powers defined for George Lucas on the original trilogy?

@JohnRennie I wasn't sure I upvoted you for a good answer, or out of pity for having to read that much of the story.

@Tuor Comics that aren't funny? That one's actually better than some. At least it wasn't about COVID.

@DavidW clearly you dont like XKCD but I do
23:10
@Tuor I don't hate XKCD, or Munroe's other work; I have copies of both What If and Thing Explainer, and I regularly read the comic. It's just not as funny as it used to be, and the past year and a half of COVID has been notably less funny.
