Q: How long does it take a starving zombie to become a Romero?

Nu'DaqIn the series Izombie, zombified people who don't get a regular diet of grey matter eventually become mindless, savage creatures lovingly referred to as Romeros- was it ever established how long it takes for this transformation to occur?

Q: Where do the spacefaring humans of the MCU come from?

Alex KinmanIn Guardians of the Galaxy I and II, we run into several humans who seem to have been in space for quite a while, i.e. prior to the events of the Infinity Saga (i.e. before 1995). We know how Peter Quill ended up in space. But there is also Stakar Ogord and Aleta Ogord, who as far as I can tell...

Q: Time travel story. 2 Researchers are stuck in primitive man times. (Neanderthal or Cromagnon) for MANY years

NJohnnyThe 2 researchers (1 male and 1 female) are just a side story to the main novel... (Their "story" is told in various interludes between chapters or sections of the book) I have no recall what the main story was about other than Time Travel. The researchers are assigned on overlapping alternating...

Q: Is there an incarnation of the Eternal Champion who can remember being Elric?

SpencerI was originally going to title this "Is Elric the last incarnation of the Eternal Champion?" but decided to ask something more limited and maybe build towards that. Some incarnations of the Eternal Champion, such as John Daker aka Erekosë, are able to remember other incarnations. This suggests ...

Q: When was DNA evidence from a crime investigation in space first used in a SciFi plot?

uhohIn the Space SE question Why were blood and hair follicles from 25 people put on the Moon? I wrote It sounds more like a potential plot for a future CSI Spaceforce episode. That got me thinking, so I'd like to ask when was DNA evidence from a crime investigation in space first used in a Sc...

Q: What is the farthest point in the Star Wars galaxy right before the Intergalactic Void?

MaxI remember years ago on Wookieepedia, I read an short article about an astronomical body that was the furthest point in the galaxy until you got into the Intergalactic Void of space between galaxies. I’m tempted to say it was a nebula but I’m not sure. I think it was mentioned in the SWTOR game, ...

@Marvin This shouldn't be getting TB VTCs.
Even in its original form, with a single plot point, I don't think it was necessarily too broad without finding multiple matching stories.

Q: In search of a fantasy book I read years ago as part of a series

Lareb Umerso I read this book a few years ago which was part of a series, but I only found the first book and now I've forgotten the name. Q: In the 2nd part (The Chamber of Secrets) of the series, what gave Harry the idea of writing in Tom Riddle's diary?

user83683It is clear that if Harry wouldn't have seen that story from the past through Tom Riddle's diary, he wouldn't have moved ahead in cracking the mystery of the Chamber of Secrets. And he could got all that info only by interacting with Tom Riddle through a written conversation via that diary. But w...

Q: What are Heimdall activities during a normal day?

WoJRewatching Thor I realized that Heimdall seemed to be standing all day in or in front of the Bifrost, awaiting for someone to come by to let them in or not. I suspect that Bifrost travels are not that common (at least the movie does not suggest that), making Heimdall's job a particularly boring ...

Q: (Canadian?) Movie about Mysterious Alien Spacecraft and the NASA-like Org Trying to Discover their Purpose

Franklin WuI saw a movie on Amazon Prime (I think) about some alien spacecraft that appear all over the Earth just hovering in the sky for several months. I believe the movie is Canadian. Ah, apparently it's because it's a review audit. Makes sense

Just saw an answer on Mi Yodeya with a disclaimer that it's not an "in-universe" answer. Maybe it should be here instead.
Does Mi Yodeya have a policy on answers that quote religious texts? Oh... Wait.
Joke aside, link? :P
18:52
I can't find it now for some reason.
Deleted?
The answer had already been deleted before, but now I can't remember what question it was on.
ctrl+h...
Well if it's deleted I'm going to have a 9,899 issue looking for it.
18:56
@Mithrandir Tried that already.
Found it.
SEDE, then.
@Alex and for those with the 9,899 issue? :P
I've only got a 9,460 issue, but it's just as prohibitive in this case :P
@Alex why is it deleted?
@Jenayah Not entirely sure.
19:02
Admittedly I haven't thoroughly thought about the question; is it a straightforward NAA?
Maybe the moderator thought it wasn't an answer.
Write a meta about it.
Maybe it's considered not a "Jewish answer".
Why would all answers have to be Jewish answers?
I mean obviously Mi Yodeya deals with religious stuff but I can imagine some questions bring answered by, I don't know, historical trivia?
Like, not especially Jewish historical trivia? Just... Trivia
Or something else than trivia
Don't make Alex think too much, he's probably dehydrated...

@Jenayah I feel like we discussed this or something similar in this room before...
At this point I don't think even Alex knows what species Alex is.

@Mithrandir it's simple though: Alex is a dehydrated robotic squirrel bathtub. With a bit of elephant heritage from their mother.
Of course, it's all so straightforward. How could I forget.
You know, that could be the pitch of a Syfy channel original. They've made millions with flying sharks, after all.
19:16
And I think we know exactly who'd play the star. ;)
Some of these Meta discussions relate to that: https://judaism.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/4113/christian-answers-as-spam
https://judaism.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/1298/how-should-we-handle-pluralistic-posts
https://judaism.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/292/is-there-not-room-for-non-orthodox-opinions
https://judaism.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/3841/answers-based-on-the-samaritan-pentateuch
@Jenayah Sure, there will be questions that can be answered without turning to Judaism, but this is more about an answer that contains a premise that some would consider against Judaism.
Ah, okay.
Then this reads more like "here's what happened with Christianity, maybe the same happened with Judaism", which I agree is kinda NAA. It's not backed up, but it's a shot. Probably better as a comment. Doesn't really seem to go against Judaism though.
Then again, I know little of both religions, and even less of Mi Yodeya's policies, so...
@Jenayah I don't think it's just a guess. The general consensus of non-religious scholars is that the books were written by multiple people over a long period of time. But (most?) traditional Jews assume that the books were written by one person, at divine behest.
@Mithrandir Since when isn't he a robot bathtub anymore? Nobody keeps me in the loop. :(
@Jenayah A dehydrated bathtub is a very sad thing...
19:33
@DavidW since a couple minutes ago:
Let's see you photoshop that into a robot bathtub too! :) Bonus points for freehand red circles.
I'm on mobile :(
But will try
I can wait. Wouldn't want to handicap you too much. :)
Not Photoshop though. PowerPoint works wonders for image editing. (...Would that get me banned from Graphic Design?)
Probably, but we won't tell them. OTOH, I bet it'd get you loads of geek points on SO.

Q: Johnny Test episode with repressing Johnny's genes to revert him back to his ancestors' traits

HSchmaleAlright, so I'm thinking about an episode of Johnny Test. I know it was a later season episode, but I can't identify any additional p...

20:12
I mean, what?
> Susan and Mary both really want Gil to go on a date with them, so they put up a wrestling match using rough guts (Susan uses Johnny's while Mary uses a lion's), but this leads to the typical destructive results.

Q: How can Radagast come across Gandalf and Thorin's company?

MysterryAt the moment, I'm reading The Hobbit, and I just watched the first movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Q: How far did Gandalf and the Balrog drop from the bridge in Moria?

Invisible TrihedronAs best I can tell, in this dramatic scene from The Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf falls for 71 seconds, mostly in free-fall while fighting a Balrog. True, the Balrog hits the walls of the abyss a couple of times, which slows their descent. But leaving that out of the account, according to the F...
