@DavidW The question doesn't have any close votes. That means it's probably from a flag.
A user who does not have enough reputation to vote might also not be so familiar with the parameters of the scope of the site.

@Mithrandir What do you ride?
@DavidW XC, and street on an XC bike
(I like street. I prefer the challenge of technical street spots over bumping through a rocky trail.)
@DavidW The older question doesn't have an accepted answer, so neither question can be closed as a duplicate.
Was going to ask about pure XC. Had a boss who was really into it, but I just can't get used to the idea of steering a bike...
@Mithrandir *blush* I hadn't even noticed that. Oops.
@DavidW Getting out into a flowy trail through the forest can actually be very enjoyable. It's when it starts getting bumpier that it can get annoying :P
Yesterday in particular was a bit mixed.
I get that cycling through a forest is really nice, but I'm just not comfortable with the whole humping over obstacles thing. On a flat path (rail path or other groomed trail) I'm happy, but not with rocks & logs and stuff. Maybe if my balance had been better...
Yeah, balance is kinda crucial. Being clipped in adds a bit of danger as well, since if you fall over, you can't always clip out in time. But I'd actually prefer a technical, slow obstacle track over a slippery, rocky trail. I'm fine with climbing onto and over big obstacles like large rocks that you can climb onto.

Is there a definitive list of comics/cartoons etc that influenced the MCU story's?
i knows it a bit all over the place with so many possibilities but been watching Hulk Vs and Planet Hulk and can think of abou 3-4 films with shades of them in them
"What sources have been confirmed by Marvel to have influenced the plotlines of the MCU?" might be a tad more concrete
^ what Mith said. And there are also some comics which are MCU tie-ins :)
18:16
Yeh. I haven't got it ironed out yet but would that be suitable? I have only asked one question that hasn't been edited yet (and childishly proud of that)
Just about everything gets edited :P I've been here nearly five years and I still make silly spelling mistakes in my questions :P
I'd say ask it and see what happens
That seems on-topic, not primarily opinion-based, not unclear, and not too broad, so I'd say it's fine, yes. Well, that's just going by the title, but still :) and if you can search a bit and find one or two to include a "plot X Was influenced by comic Z, any others I don't know about?" (a bit more further than just quoting Infinity Gauntlet, though), that'd be nice as well. "Show your research" and all :)
Thanks. I'll get on to it asap. I'm sure I'll see one of your names in the edit. (Smile)
@Seamusthedog for the record, while edits (are supposed to) improve posts, just because a post got edited didn't mean it was bad. Improvement can also take a good question and transform it into an ever better question :-)
And there's also "invisible" improvements - for instance, replacing enter image description here with an image description, replacing HTML by Markdown... Accessibility stuff, which might not concern all of us, but still it's better to think of people using screen readers (or geeks and consoles, I know, Napoleon ;) ) and making stuff available to them as well
Yeh I know. 2 of my recent questions blew up because of the edit. I was going to suggest being able to pass reputation point from PO to editor as thanks for the improvement. Do know if that would work?
18:28
No, that's not possible.
No worries. Thanks. Will get question posted soon.
It's not possible to reward an editor for an edit, but what you could do is look if they wrote an amazing answer on another question (or on a question of your own, of course), and set a bounty on it.
Or, if they wrote a kinda good answer which could be improved, set a bounty with the reason "current answer might need an update". Though that one may be tricky if answerer doesn't update it and someone else does. Well, they'd have had their chance anyway.

Alex DownsIn Shrek the Musical, we see a fairy godmother, but it is unclear who her Godchild is. The booklet I got from going to see the Musical in Blackpool says she’s Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, but some people say that she’s Shrek 2’s Fairy Godmother (Dama Fortuna) since she looks remarkably like her.

@Jenayah that’s unethical, I think
@Jenayah what’s this about @Napoleon?
@Stormblessed well, not really, provided the post is worth it. You don't have to stumble across stuff you might want to bounty :-)

A: Let me reward a good edit on my question/answer

dmckeeUsual expedient: go to their profile, find a deserving question or answer of theirs and vote for it. Extra fun when you can bump them into a badge.

Basically, as long as you don't abuse it, it seems fine to reward their contributions elsewhere. Sure, it doesn't reward the edit, but if they're already making good edits and posting deserving posts, chances are they'll keep doing so anyway ;)

@SFFBlog ?מאי נפקא מינה
what you said.
@Jenayah You agree?
I was being ironic, as I don't have any idea what you wrote.
It's a phrase used in Talmudic discourse. It basically means, when you're analyzing whether something is X or Y what are the ramifications of it being X vs Y? If there are no ramifications then the difference between X and Y may not be a difference of any importance.
Somehow it feels like that wording can weirdly be applied to how we handle dupe closure, and how you respond to it.
23:10
@Jenayah How so?
Speaking of which:
I don't see how this is a duplicate given that there is no mention of repairing books in the other question or any of its answers. — Alex 21 hours ago
@Alex IMHO replace "clothing" by "books" in the answers there and it answers the one you reopened, so yeah, dupe
@Alex how to say... Like, is A a dupe or B or a dupe of C... What are the reamifications of it beng Bdupe or Cdupe? Then B and C may be dupes as well
I dunno, it's just kind of cryptic ;)
@Jenayah How does it answer the question about books? The fact that you can’t make shabby clothing nicer doesn’t relate to whether you can fix a ripped book. Indeed the answer specifically says that you can fix ripped clothing.
@Jenayah Is that referring to my comment, or to yours?
@Alex mine
@Alex presumably the books would still be used and worn and wouldn't work out for a whole lot of other stuff.
Hey, you know these depictions of people having a mini version of a devil and an angel on their shoulders, tell them what "good but restrictive"/"bad but feeling so good" actions they should take?
23:26
@Jenayah But That wasn’t the question. The question was why Gunny used Spellotape to mend her book when she could have used Reparo. Nothing in the other question or answers indicates that Reparo couldn’t be used for that. (In fact there is an explicit example in the books where someone fixes books with Reparo.)
@Jenayah What about them?
Well, currently, both devil Jena and angel Jena are holding me back by the back of my T-shirt, shouting "you don't want to discuss dupe closure with Alex, why did youget into that again, stop typing you moron" :P
@Jenayah So you just need a third character to encourage you.
How about a mini Alex?
You always have an answer to everything, do you? :P
@Jenayah Except to this.
Well, I guess you do, but you can't always provide it as people close the questions before you finish typing ;)
@Alex true, that'd be a bit paradoxical
23:30
@Jenayah At least with duplicates I can guarantee that I can post before it gets closed.
or after it gets closed and you reopen it ;)
@Jenayah That's what I meant.
No, you said before it gets closed. You didn't say it was before it got closed for the second time, implying you guaranteed you could post answers prior to the first closing. (which is wrong, if only for typing speed matters)
Be careful or I'll ask @Riker to delete your account on Pedantry.SE :P
@Alex eh, a blue blob advisor? :D
@Jenayah I was actually going to write reclosed but then didn't bother for some reason.
