Q: Was the Klingon Bird of Prey inspired by the Canada Goose?

PraxisWhile partly written to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Canada, what follows is a serious question nonetheless. The Klingon Bird of Prey is one of the iconic ships of Star Trek. In-universe, it is a design that persists more or less untouched over the course of a century. Out-of-universe,...

Q: Why is the “Cathedral District” in “Logan’s Run” such a run down and sketchy place to begin with?

JakeGouldJust watched Logan’s Run (1976) again and when the scene rolls around where Logan 5 and Jessica 6 head to “Cathedral”, I wondered… Why the heck was the “Cathedral District”—or “Cathedral Plaza” as it reads on the wall—in such a crappy state? In the film nobody ever talks positively about “Cathed...

Q: How does Disney market Captain America outside of America?

chessofnerdThe Marvel movies have been successfully marketed in America and outside of it. A staple of these movies has been Captain America, who is clearly a United States centric character. How has Disney (the company behind these movies) marketed a US centric superhero to a non-US audience?

@AJ Depends on the question.

like?
If it's a trivia question, likely to be easily resolved by a single passage from the book or quote from the author, you'll probably get an answer quicker here.
If it's a deep analysis question, needing a thorough knowledge of the material and literary techniques, you'll probably get a better answer on Lit.

Q: Who deletes comments? Is it the tooth fairy?

KyloRenSo Who deletes comments? I keep making insulting comments, but someone keeps deleting them. Is it the tooth fairy?

Francis Dolarhyde is a fictional character in Thomas Harris' 1981 novel Red Dragon. Dolarhyde is a serial killer who murders entire families by shooting them in their beds. He is nicknamed "The Tooth Fairy" due to the nocturnal nature of his crimes, his tendency to bite his victims' bodies, the uncommon size and sharpness of his teeth and other apparent oral fixations. He kills at the behest of an alternate personality; he refers to his other self as "The Great Red Dragon" after William Blake's painting The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed in Sun. He believes that killing people - or "changing...

@Babelfish is a duplicate question that says it disagrees with the answers to the original still a duplicate?
19:10
it does seem to me like the right answer to the original question should be "Phineas was talking about himself", though
too bad I don't have the resources to do a text search for all the times he ever spoke in the books to confirm
@DaaaahWhoosh That's a good answer, actually.
He only speaks in the last book, doesn't he?
And now Snape stood again in the Headmaster’s study as Phineas Nigellus came hurrying into his portrait.
‘Headmaster! They are camping in the Forest of Dean! The Mudblood –’
‘Do not use that word!’
‘– the Granger girl, then, mentioned the place as she opened her bag and I heard her!’
yeah, so maybe he was specifically talking about the Black/Snape team-up, of which he was obviously the important one
Sounds like an answer, and in line with his character.
yeah... I guess I have work to do now

Q: Is there any significance to uniform color on Stargate:Atlantis?

OmegacronIn "Stargate: Atlantis", the team going to Atlantis wears uniforms not seen before in "Stargate: SG1". FYI, I'm potentially offering a 100 point bounty if someone can write an answer based off of analysis of the text, instead of a quote from the author. I doubt it'll happen, but I'd like it if it did.

Risk-prone?
22:13
@Mithrandir Yeah, you're...not improving your case. ;-)
on the other hand, this is literally the only thing you can "spend" your reputation on
not using any of your disney dollars while you're in disneyland is a bit silly
It's also not like I have a Rand amount of rep...
@Ixrec Indeed, that's exactly what bounties are for, encouraging better answers.
@Ixrec See, this is why I'm crap at Shogi.
I tend to hoard captured pieces and be too reluctant to put them back on the board.
Because there always might be a better opportunity later.
It's disney dollars, you can touch 'em. It's not a virtual stock hold with the potential for expected value.
22:21
I mean, I'd like to hit 20k. But I'd still like to reward an answer that I'd like to read. So I'm saying, I'll be selfish and not start the bounty unless I'm sure that it'll go to a good cause. I'm selfish that way...
reads up on why they don't make the literal disney dollars anymore

23:44
@Babelfish It's quite satisfying to improve a question that much with an edit.
Now all it needs is a few more details like when, where, what language.
I don't think I can give you a one-word review
but I can give you a one-conceptual-point review: as a finale that leaves too much hanging, but if it's merely "part 2" and the special is the real finale then I'm totally cool with everything that happened it
I'd already been getting a strong vibe that it's more of a 3-parter than a 2-parter.
