Q: Sci-FI story about capital punishment (I think)

StamatisA few years ago I read a sci-fi story (probably a novelette) in a known magazine of the genre. Unfortunately I am not sure about the magazine, although I have the impression it was the Asimov's. The story was taking place in a southern US state and was about the victims of a killer and the effort...

Q: TV sci-fi show with strong female lead who looks after artifacts and also had Nikolai Tesla in it

MarkiSparkiI think it was in the 2000s, and the main lead is a strong woman who looks a bit like Lucy Lawless. She, I seem to remember, had lived a long time and was good friends with Nikolai Tesla, who dropped in from time to time. One of the characters is a guy who can change into a wolf, but he is deeply...

Q: Recent film in which young male avoids detection of his thoughts by repeating his name and who he is. He searches for crashed spaceship to send SOS

Bobby Jack BlainThis person may be on an alien planet or dystopian earth. He must repeat his name and who he is in his thoughts to avoid detection by antagonists. I think he meets a girl who survived a spaceship wreck. Together they seek the wreckage in order to send a message to other ships that may be looking ...

@DavidW I don't really need large scale, let's say at least three clones in the same book or something like that.

Q: Manhwa where the FL is the missing sister to brothers

AlexIt starts with the FL living in the countryside. She has unique colored hair(pink or rose or similar I think) and a birthmark on one of her legs. She's reincarnated into this world and know who she is. Her brothers have been sending people out to find her and her friend ended up telling the knigh...

Q: Could a witch or wizard ever run out of magic, or ever need to "recharge" their magic?

The Boy Who LivedThe magic system in Harry Potter allows our characters to do basically anything. You can shoot magic out of the end of your wand, you could bottle it up in a potion, you could transform a piece of your body, you could even hide a piece of your soul inside of another object to prevent you from dyi...

Q: What happened to Batman in the Arrowverse?

TaladrisThe premise of the Batwoman show in the Arrowverse is that Gotham City has gone into chaos since the disappearance of Batman a few years prior to the first episode. Kate Kane, Bruce's cousin, takes over the mantle of Batman and tries to restore peace in the city. What happened to Bruce Wayne/Batm...

Q: Manga about a main character who is reborn as a noble child and ends up causing the death of his mother

user160939The main character was reincarnated as a baby into a noble family and he was the youngest. After the mother gave birth, she started to become weak and ended up passing away. Then one of the siblings tried to kill the baby, but failed. The attempt on the baby failed because I think the uncle or an...

Q: Film or series where bacteria were the protagonist

CrimsonKn1ghtI think this film or show was in the early 2000's, it featured some sort of bacterial habitats co existing in a boy's body, and the good bacteria's would fight off the bad ones and when they failed the boy would suffer from a repercussion, like have a fever or blackout, etc. Any idea what this fi...

@b_jonas Then God Emperor of Dune in 1981 had multiple Duncan Idaho gholas; I would give this precedence over Star Wars where "the Clone Wars" was essentially a toss-off line.
No actual clones were depicted in the Star Wars universe until after RotJ. (At least in canon works that I'm aware of.)

@DavidW so the clones weren't depicted earlier in Star War books? ok, that probably decides this, thank you

Q: Good idea for new series, or completely stupid?

RickyspanishStar Trek: Soong… instead of Star Trek: Picard? This show would follow the life (or lives) of the soong bloodline. I think his story is more than rich enough to make a full series. Not to mention we won’t be bound to starfleet, we can get a more rounded view of the “universe”. I think the hardest...

Q: Old "double" book; one of the stories involves an alien childbirth, with the mother's womb and digestive system detaching from her body

LuckyStarrMany years ago, I came across one of those "double" books, like the ones Ace and Tor used to publish. I don't recall the publisher, just that both stories were science fiction and that the book was a "tête-bêche" (i.e., inverted back-to-back). One of the two stories (novellas?) involves a man fal...

Q: Alt-history based on the Hamilton-Burr duel

Ben PlaceIn the 1980s, I think, I read a novel or a series whose alternate history was based on Alexander Hamilton surviving, if not winning, his duel with Aaron Burr. That alternate outcome led to a whole underground organization dedicated to changing something or other--I didn't know enough history at t...

Q: What's the mythological boss monster from The Battle of the Labyrinth?

JoeI have been listening to the Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan on audiobook. There is big boss monster that's like a kind of dragon with animal heads around her waist, whose name sounds like 'Kom-pay' in the version I was listening to. Percy Jackson meets her in Alcatraz about a third of th...

Q: Does it matter that Snape made a deal with Dumbledore before killing him?

GouvernathorNear the end of the 6th book, Harry and Dumbledore land on the top of the Astronomy Tower. Malfoy appears, disarms Dumbledore, then Snape arrives and kills Dumbledore. Since that was part of a deal between D and S, and since disarming Dumbledore counts as defeating him (for some reason), Malfoy i...
