Q: Is this scene in the Mandalorian a Mad Max homage?

Rogue JediOne scene in The Mandalorian bears a striking resemblance to the end of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Note the desert landscape, sunset, back to the audience, long robes, and long weapons strapped to the back. Have any creators stated if it was an intentional homage?

Q: Movie where a tape player is implicated in an arson

user73910I glimpsed a part of a movie or maybe a TV show episode. In the scene I watched, a school of children is evacuated because of a fire. One of the children says that someone is missing, but the teacher reassures them that she counted everyone. In a separate scene, a long, rectangular object is brou...

user144387Cartoon about monsters that solve mysteries? I remember one episode where they look into realistic statues of people that you can hear crying and when they break a piece they find human hair. Hmm. scifi.stackexchange.com/posts/11833/revisions doesn't seem to exist anymore, but still shows up on the SEDE query for posts without alt text.

Orphan wiki, might want to filter the query to just questions and answers

Q: Anime about a school boy living together with an unintentionally (?) annoying alien

M. Rumpy15 or more years ago I watched a TV cartoon series (probably an anime) about a school boy who was living together with some alien (I think it was an alien, but I do not know its origin; maybe a deamon?). I am not sure whether the boy considered them friends, because the alien regularly used his v...

@LogicDictates @ARogueAnt. RE: the post you both reviewed, if you feel something shouldn't have been posted as an answer please flag it. If I hadn't have seen it that would have stayed around and hopefully someone else would have flagged it but they might not have done.
Also CC @DavidW though your comment was slightly differently intentioned

@TheLethalCarrot Somehow I read it as an answer, but not a good one, instead of a comment. My bad.

TBF it did trip me up at first because I missed the other answer mentioning it on first pass through

@TheLethalCarrot I wasn't sure whether it was appropriate to flag it or not, since it seemed to technically qualify as an answer, albeit a duplicate of an existing one.

In general if you're telling someone their answer should be a comment you probably want to flag it too, you can always mod flag and ask us to turn answers into comments on the specific post if you feel it's needed as well i.e. if the information probably wants preserving but doesn't make sense as an answer on its own.

I just took a look, it is a confusing one. Like other have said, if it's just repeating information in an existing answer, but saying less it is better off as a comment

Q: 1970's Novel where the protagonist uses ATM-like card in fully automated store in a cashless society

mjenkinsI read this novel in the late 70's where the protagonist is fleeing from the authorities and goes into a completely automated store. He needs to use an id card like an ATM card to make his purchases. Each person had "credits" they could spend based on their ranking in society. For some reason I c...

Q: Webnovel where the main character goes to India and protects a girl who gives him power

Darshak BaliIn this particular manga the main character goes to India. While he is there he protects a Indian girl who has powers of Shiva/Rudra, but the girl ultimately dies and girl gives some of her power to the main character while dying. I think maybe it's a Korean or Chinese novel. It's like powers/inc...

Q: When was the first suggestion that Patrick Stewart should play Charles Xavier / Prof. X?

ThePopMachineIn honor of the release of Logan, widely acknowledged most likely to be the last time Patrick Stewart will play Professor X: It strikes me as rather lucky that a bald English actor of the skill and gravitas of Patrick Stewart existed at the right time to play Charles Xavier, and one known in SF ...

Q: What are all the "easter eggs" from the current era in Wolfe's The Book of the New Sun?

jwezorekOne thing I noticed after finishing The Book of the New Sun is that early in the narrative Wolfe has included several places where the reader familiar with current human culture and technology can tell what Severian is describing even if Severian does not know what something is. The Matachin Tow...

Q: "I know you're there. I can smell you!"

TheIronCheekI'm looking for a movie that scared the bejesus out of me as a kid. It was either a direct adaptation of the Grimm fairy tale, "Hansel and Gretel", or something with a similar story. Kids stuck in a house with an evil witch that wanted to eat them, that sort of thing. The line that gave me nightm...

Q: Was there anything going on in Rhun during the 3rd Age?

SpencerGI know in the LOTR books that it's mentioned that the people out there serve and/or revere Sauron. But is there any source material that discusses what is actually out there? Are there any cities, kingdoms, or anything else of note or is it just a vast expanse of land used as a plot setting to de...

@Marvin I'm sure there's lots of normal-people stuff like eating, drinking, sleeping, plowing fields, making clothes, etc. But since they're Evul Peopulz™ they substitute standing in ranks and yelling at one another for playing with children and having any form of art or culture.

Q: Movie about a creature summoned by a Native American curse

user73910I watched a horror movie about some kind of creature that was brought into the world by a Native American chief casting a curse.
