Q: (Clannad) What if Ushio was stillborn, but Nagisa still died giving birth to her?

Louis HolmesAs bad as it was when Nagisa died, and Ushio lived for 5 years before dying herself....it could have been much, much worse. What if Ushio died a stillborn baby, and Nagisa still died the same way as in canon? Permanent deaths. What will happen to Tomoya after he loses his wife and child AT ONCE?

Q: Book with short stories about travel gates, and a lizard race with 12 digits

Brad AndrewsI read a book many years ago that had a set of short stories about a set of travel gates. It started with the invention and went through many uses. The final story was about a lizard race with 12 digits that took over things at some point noting it was odd to use a 10 digit number system.

Q: The angels show their creations to God in order to create the world

LeaGI am looking for a short story that I studied in high school and I can't remember the name. It was the story of God, creating the world with his angels. They showed him a lot of ideas, that he accepted or not. Until one of them, that showed him some kind of species, in between monkeys and angels....

Q: Why did Jonas' gun jam?

vonjd[Spoilers for season 3] In Dark season 3, episode 7 Jonas tries to kill himself, first by hanging than by shooting himself. In both cases it doesn't work: when trying to shoot himself, the gun jams several times although it works perfectly well afterwards. I understand the concept of determinism ...

Narrators voice: It's all electronic

@DavidW Do you mean to imply that you'd recommend using palantirs controlled by the Dark Lord over that?

Q: Why didnt Korra take away Zaheer's Bending?

GamerGyppsAt the end of Book 3 when Korra finally defeats Zaheer he is locked in a special prison deep underground. We see this is Book 4 when Korra speaks to him. He is chained to the floor but still floating so he still has his bending. We know Korra learned energybending from Aang in Book 1 and she retu...

@b_jonas In a world with billions of palantiri and a Dark Lord who can only focus on one thing at a time? Yeah, I'd probably take my chances with the Dark Lord. :)

Q: Bilbo’s song of Eärendil in “The Fellowship of the Ring”

Gareth ReesIn The Fellowship of the Ring, the character Bilbo Baggins recites a poem beginning with these lines: Eärendil was a mariner that tarried in Arvernien; he built a boat of timber felled in Nimbrethil to journey in; her sails he wove of silver fair, of silver were her lanterns made, her prow was f...

what a treat of a Q&A

A thesis not a Q/A I'd say

It still contains a question and answer
the second part of the answer is unnecessary though
And still a treat

Not saying it isn't a Q/A of course
It's so much work is why I said it's a thesis

@TheLethalCarrot it's both then

Well yeah

I was just confused by your orriginal statement

A thesis not a Q/A I'd say

Not to be taken too literal

Q: Which character in the Arrowverse has been killed the most times?

TMuffinThere's a running joke among fans of Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow about how many times Sara Lance dies, but is she actually the character with the most deaths? For this question, I'm counting a death any time that a character was wounded in a way that an in-universe character would reasonably th...

@AncientSwordRage I'm up for a dental cleaning. Such a rush!

>.<

@Mithical Do you need a painkiller? You seem like you might be in mild distress.

As long as you're not numbing my face for dental work I'm good.

sigh I can never remember my stupid github password

@JackBNimble just change it to 'stupidgithubpassword'

I'll never remember that.

You can't go wrong with "correct horse battery staple."

it claimed that some of my passwords, which are practically gibberish, are found in common password files.
My new plan is just make it random, and then just reset it every time I need to upload something.
As long as my password on my email from 1996 remains secure (temp01) I should be fine.

5:58 PM
Is using a password manager an option?

6:23 PM
probably.

Q: Is there something I'm missing about the numerous songs in "The Fellowship of the Ring"?

Marcon FaizI'm currently re-reading The Fellowship of the Ring (Swedish translation from 1971) after 20+ years. I'm 170 pages in. One thing that strikes me, and which I didn't remember at all, is the numerous songs displayed with full lyrics, occurring regular intervals. The first time, I thought it was nic...

Q: Short story, super clever little girl who ends up teleporting

DannyMcGI read this in an anthology approx 1990 - but the stories seemed older, maybe from the 1960's. This man is relaxing in his house while his pre-school daughter is playing with crayons and paper. He notices she's out a half twist in a narrow strip of paper and taped the ends together. As he watches...
