Are there any stories where the universe is entirely a cave or some other closed system? That is, if you kept digging/burning/destroying the walls of the universe, you'd just find more wall, and there is no expanse leading outwards?
In CoS, McGonagall tells Harry that he should've sent a professor a letter through Hedwig when Harry and Ron couldn't get through the barrier.
"Why didn't you send us a letter by owl? I believe you have an owl?"
This information proves that McGonagall knows about Harry's owl. But how? I can't s...
I remember as a kid watching a movie where there's a guy who is topless, and he searches for some magical elemental crystals. He has a crystal that when he puts in a hole in a cave during sunset it reveals a map, and one crystal is hidden behind a waterfall. Later that guy is imprisoned inside a ...
KT disables Dr Emil's virtual simulation on Bloodshot:
Dr Emil: The truth is, nobody wants to make real decisions anymore.
They just wanna feel like they have. Goodbye, KT.
KT: Like I would let you do that again.
How are wizards dealing with Coronavirus ? Has JKR mentioned anything about this at all ? Do wizards and witches get affected at all ? Have they found a cure ?
This comment in Space SE got me wondering, and I can't think of a counterexample.
Especially since Hollywood seems to think that Mars has 1g (and all other planets too). :-)
When an object is dropped from height h, the time it takes to fall is t = sqrt(2h/g). Values for g on Earth, Mars and the...
I want to know how many citizens are in Concupia and the size of this country. Can someone make a proper estimate? A fast horseman can go from one city to another in a day. Evidently it's a small country - but how small? The size can be used to decipher the number of citizens.
Knowing the numbe...
It has been widely discussed and seems to be generally agreed that where two story-identification questions have an accepted answer that is the same, one should be closed as duplicate of the other.
What seems more contentious is closing questions where only one has an accepted answer and where t...
Has he forgotten the harsh way Snape treated him in class. I know that Snape saved his life but only because he had Lily's eyes and if he didn't Snape wouldn't have.
Meh. I'm not going to look at the entire question before deciding to edit a single answer. I edited the answer and then looked at the rest of the question. I don't think it's a huge concern if it gets bumped later.
I was reminded of this when I saw the title of SciFi / fantasy book from 80s about Jesus, present-day New York, time travel and the Dead Sea scrolls, but somewhere in the early 2000s, while I was working as a bank teller in Ashland, KY, one of my co-workers gave me a book they read, thinking I'd ...
Parts of the prologue of A Fire upon the Deep seems to be from the point-of-view of the awakening Blight and other passages seem to be about the separate awakening of Countermeasure seemingly personified by two artificial consciousnesses having a dialog with each other. These consciousnesses ment...
Many people say that he did. But there is a contradictory statement from the book. The book describes that a lone dog the size of a boat lay near the stone steps to the castle when Harry entered it (after witnessing Snape die). Does this mean that the dog lay dead or was it resting? Was it Fang o...
Season 5 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has a group called the Confederacy. When their off world site is shown it has a set of changing Japanese characters on an electronic display in the background.
The characters are just nonsense, they don't seem to say anything. No one in the Confederacy or on the...
It was a movie I watched a few years back. 2012-2015 I’m sure. This girl gets this object that allows her to turn back time/look into the future I guess.
This is a question that has been bugging me today, and I can't seem to find any sources that confirm this to be true.
Did Anakin and Ahsoka train at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant at the same time? We know that Anakin is roughly 5 years older than Ahsoka and that he started his Jedi training at the...
I'd like to post a question asking about apparent discrepancies in a series of fantasy novels (the Deryni series by Katherine Kurtz, to be specific).
I can not find an appropriate tag, and am not permitted to post the question without a tag.
How would I tag such a question? Is there a way to pos...
Wikipedia's Armageddon (1998 film); Plot begins:
A massive meteor shower destroys the orbiting Space Shuttle Atlantis, before entering the atmosphere and bombarding New York City. NASA discovers that the meteors were pushed out of the asteroid belt by a rogue comet that jarred loose a Texas-size...
