Q: Short story about a space combat/chase that can never be resolved due to the deltaV between the ships

meecectI'm looking for the name of a scifi short story. I'm pretty sure it is in one of the 'Years Best in Science Fiction' but I have like ten of them and they are huge so I don't know which one it is in. My memory of it is hazy but it is something like: a story that starts with two young people on...

Q: How did Underdog get his powers in the 1960s cartoon?

RusshiroThe 2007 Underdog film was amusing, but not the most logical or plausible superhero [parody] movie. In it, a normal canine is granted various Superman-like powers after being doused in various, unspecified serums and vials of diverse animal DNA. It brought to light the question: How did Underdog...

mpdonadioThe title says it all. Thank You, Robert Cartaino, for everything you did for SE and the community. I don't post much on MSE, but have been a mod for about eight years. Q: Is it a honor or disgrace to be the first host to a trill symbiont?

ShadeThe great benefit of having a symbiont is having access to it's memories and therefore access to a vast repertoire of knowledge and experience. So, basically, being the first host to a symbiont is, as I understand, not as beneficial as having an old symbiont. On the other hand, the symbiont survi...

No wait, I must've miscounted.
Ah, yes, the Heinlein question.

@SQB When updating links to https, you might as well do wikia.com => fandom.com at the same time.

Q: Is there any evidence that Whiterose's machine was real?

John OIn Mr. Robot, Chinese Minister Zhang, aka Whiterose, has at great expense and effort over the course of decades constructed some sort of machine in New Jersey. The interior looks science-fiction-y the few times the show has depicted it. Perhaps like ITER might look, or the Large Hadron Collider. ...

Q: Short story with explorers or tourists on a planet with dangerous, but attractive glass plants

DavidWI read this in the past 3 years, but I'm sure it was in an old (1950s most likely) pulp magazine that I read once I discovered that the Internet Archive had hundreds of them. The story concerns either explorers or tourists. (I think I may be conflating 2 stories.) At least there are 2 or more ...

@JackBNimble There's a new contributor I added to the blog. They want to write a review for an RPG. It's self-advertising, but I think it's fine because, hey, it's our genre. Once they write it we can review it and final say on if/when to publish is still yours.

@TheLethalCarrot Valorum wasn't being overly hasty; I commented that his suggestion was right, and asked him to close it.

I know, the target hasn't got an accepted answer, your question isn't the problem

Well, now at least one of them does.

Valorum probably just took my word for the close action...

@DavidW oh crap. That one might warrant an edit straight in the database, if possible.
But now that @Shog9's out...

Isn't that exactly what Catija has just done anyway?

SQB
That true?
Cool.

Well, wasn't there something about broken Wiki links recently?
Unless that's something totally different.

SQB
@DavidW scifi.stackexchange.com/posts/113022/revisions the "wookies" here is a quote. A "[sic]" behind it would be more appropriate than editing the quote.

6:51 PM
Oh, maybe that was only about the Star Trek thing.

SQB
Is it just straight s/wikia/fandom/, or have the URLs changed further?

I don't know. Consult the meta maybe.

SQB
@DavidW Ah, it wasn't formatted as a quote.
I just happened to know because I sicced the other one.

Q: Old part-animated live action movie musical; single mom takes a correspondence course on magic

HAEMA question yesterday gave me a flashback about a movie I saw a part of long ago, and I'm wondering if someone here could identify it for me. I seem to recall the colors striking me as technicolor, and the general style of the movie was old-timey. Also, there were a few musical scenes. In the mo...

@SQB wikia.com still works, just redirects to fandom.com for most of their wikis. They did it properly, unlike some sites.
@SQB Nice.

8:32 PM
@b_jonas They did. Which is why there's no urgent need to update all those URLs. It's just good housekeeping to fix that too when updating the URLs to use https.
(What I mean is that when fixing a post it makes sense to fix everything that needs fixing; typos, broken formatting, non-standard title formatting (book/movie names in italic, short story/episode names in quotes), http: URLs, wikia URLs, etc.)

Q: Can we fix Wikia links before they break?
