I finally got Curious
Oh, actually it's on SF Meta
WTF
You can't have the word "actually" in Skeptics question titles

1:33 AM
@Stormblessed wait you have it on meta but not on main?
You had like 3 or 4 negative/deleted questions but you have tons of new questions, I'd have thought that would balance the thing already
@Stormblessed I guess all questions there seek "actually" anyway?

Q: What is the Last Command referring to?

RallyToMeI have always wondered, what is the title of the Star Wars Thraw Trilogy novel Last Command referring to? Is it Mara's last order from the late Emperor to kill Luke? Or is it in reference to Thrawn being the last of the Grand Admirals, or something else?

@Jenayah What was it?
@Jenayah Might be, I always get DVs on my tag Metas and never really understand why

Not really funny without seeing the answer text

Gonna post this here again
@Jenayah Well you can choose a delete reason or just say No comment needed, does it really matter if I have a specific one?

@Stormblessed no luck so far :(

@Jenayah I'd think it'd be so easy to find
Oops, accidental star

@Stormblessed Delete reasons give automatic comments on the post from within the LQP queue

1:30 PM
@Stormblessed choosing a reason will generate an autocomment, you can also write a custom one. It's better to provide some guidance at times, when users did ty to answer but just didn't grasp SE's concept
@Stormblessed eeeh then again I'm brute-forcing it ahah

TBF I don't like the auto comments, I generally either upvote a comment or write one myself that is at least tailored a bit

Aye
@Stormblessed hard to upload from mobile, remind me tonight

Is there much point adding the comment here? It wasn't that great and without the context of the answer doesn't make too much sense

Q: Book series of warriors who channel magic through singing

@TheLethalCarrot curiosity
And answer can be screenshoted as well if needed but no not much point apart from curiosity
@Stormblessed that ain't brute force, brute force is speedreading every 70s-80s DC comic you can find that ain't superhero stuff :P
"DC comics" "1981" site:readcomiconline.to if anyone's wondering how I query the thing
Then ++ or -- the year

@Jenayah Wow...
That's dedication

That's super ineffective so far xD

@Stormblessed I dunno, all I've got is "not Spellsinger." :)
Misty Lackey wrote tons of books with bards 'n stuff, though, so that might be a possibility.

@DavidW Yes, not that book
Tons of Goodreads questions come up for magic and series and singing

2:25 PM
@Jenayah Tell me the story of your first answer on this site.

@Stormblessed I posted an answer to it but not overly happy with it because I can't actually find it to read at the moment

Feb 11 at 19:14, by Stormblessed
Can you tell me the story of your first answer on this site?
Read from there (if you want)

@Stormblessed Yeah, I didn't find anything helpful there. Too many hits on stories that had just plain music, as opposed to magical music.
Every now and then a question will come up, and some quick research will really bring home the great chunks of the SF shelves at the bookstore that I just mentally elide as I'm browsing. I've never noticed (at least not consciously) half of these authors!

2:48 PM
Ahaha thanks

Greetings, Earthlings.

Greetings, Hubble guy!
@TheLethalCarrot upvoted due to the Adam and Eve thing matching

It matches the broad strokes, as far as I can tell, in that it's about two characters who see their planet almost destroyed yet they decide to stay on and rebuild life when it is "saved" and they are revealed to be Adam and Eve
I can't find a copy of it to check the specific details though annoyingly

3:11 PM
Browsing, I've noticed that there are some questions that probably should be tagged with a universe tag. When I do that, should I remove the author tag? The questions are about works in the universe, not about the author herself.

Yeah remove the author tag if there is a universe tag

@DavidW definitely
Author tags are stupid
And overused

Author tags are fine for questions about the author
They are often misused

@SombreroChicken well, Stormblessed was faster than I was :D
@TheLethalCarrot you can try asking the website I mentioned above, they might have a scan somewhere. They usually respond to requests quite fast from what I've heard

They have the issue, but only the Iron Man story
I didn't even know you could contact them haha

3:23 PM
You can, don't remember where but I stumbled upon it by accident once

Haha, might have a look

@SombreroChicken my turn to ask a question? A bit of network profile stalking doesn't bring any particular reason you'd land on my profile? How the duck? :P

I was looking at this answer and just learned that the stupid way to spell “disc” with a k is the American one?

Now I realise I have no idea how I would have written it and that confuses me.
@Alex ... I hadn't realised
Duck you :P

@Jenayah My pleasure.

4:05 PM
The problem here is that the title question doesn't seem to match what you're actually asking in the last paragraph and the title question is pretty much POB. And then because of this distinction some other sentences could mean 1 of 2 things and so that also makes this fall into unclear and too broad territory. Fixing the title to be more specific would help clean this up but you may need to clarify some of the sentences in the post itself as well. — TheLethalCarrot 3 mins ago
@Jenayah Something I missed out here? You VTRO so not sure if I'm missing something that makes it okay

Voted to leave open, if only for "Are there any episodes/scenes in any of the series/films where a Klingon mentions human warriors of old?". That doesn't seem POB, and if Klingons only respect actions, well that's an answer — Jenayah 22 hours ago

It's been edited since then and the OP has left a comment. Also my comment could shed some light on how I see it for Jenayah to respond to my points. I did see her comment
And anyway you reopened it, you got a response to my comment?

@TheLethalCarrot Sure.
I don't think it's Primarily Opinion-Based especially because of the edit. The question now explicitly states: I'm not asking for opinion-based answers. I'm asking for answers based upon 1) factual mentions in any Star Trek series/films/books, and 2) factual data based upon the Star Trek universe (memory alpha, any other resources).
If the question is Unclear or Too Broad, we have no lack of close reasons to address that.

The title is opinion based and the question also suffers from being too broad in places and quite unclear. Sometimes the "wrong" close reason is fine even though in this case it works as POB too
Reopening something just to close it again isn't really needed and wastes votes and reviewers time
A comment can clear up the "wrong" reason quicker and easier than reopening to close again

4:22 PM
A comment is just one user's opinion. Plus a comment can be buried at the bottom of the page, and it can be deleted at any time.
And that assumes as a given that the question should be closed as Too Broad and/or Unclear. But if we can't muster up five votes for those then maybe it shouldn't be.

6:21 PM
@TheLethalCarrot yeah I still stand by that comment. It's asking for occurrences in canon, even in the second comment. And I don't get how the title is POB?

6:38 PM
@Jenayah Unanswerable, because I'm pretty sure that no such canon exists, but not POB.

@Donald.McLean well, "we dunno 'cause nope it's never been showed" is an answer

If I tried to write that answer, it would be way too snarky. "Sorry, but there is no canon answer because the screenwriters have better things to do with their time than to answer obscure, meaningless questions."

According to 2018: a year in closing, 55.63% of questions asked on Network Engineering were closed. Of the 2,921 questions closed, 2,156 were closed as off-topic. — Ron Maupin 8 mins ago

Is there such a thing as serial accepting?

@Alex not against the rules AFAIK...
@Donald.McLean lol, so many of our answers rely on authors doings precisely that tho

6:49 PM
@Jenayah Well someone accepted three old answers of mine today.

From a peek at your profile, guy might have waited a bit to see if anything better came up and decided yours were good enough to be accepted

@Jenayah Seems excessive. Mostly closed as "off topic", so probably new users not reading the <bleep>ing manual.

@Alex there's a thing such as serial, massive accept-whoring in one go, though...
@Donald.McLean yup, apparently it's something about networks needing to be professional level

> This answer has severe formatting or content problems. This answer is unlikely to be salvageable through editing, and might need to be removed.
That’s the description of Very Low Quality.

11:25 PM
@Mithrandir I still don’t understand why we keep bad answers. Isn’t the point of moderation and rules to keep the quality of posts okay, not to just leave every answer intact?

@Stormblessed The point of moderation and rules is to make sure that we only have questions and answers. The point of upvotes and downvotes is to sort the quality of questions and answers.

But why is it a good thing to keep very shitty answers with no sources or fact behind them on the site?
On an unrelated note, we should rename the tag to

@Stormblessed Because why should a handful of delete voters have the authority to decide which answers are right or wrong?

@Alex something that is completely made up is a wrong answer

@Stormblessed Who decides that something is completely made up? Who decides that something completely made up is wrong? It is possible for something to be right even with no evidence supporting it, and it is possible for something to be wrong even if it has evidence supporting it.
That's why you should downvote something that cites no evidence. Downvoting means "this is not useful". If something cites no evidence then it is not useful, even though it is technically possible for it to be right.

11:35 PM
@Alex so if someone asked “is Mario a human” and then I answered “no, he is a kree, as confirmed in Super Mario Bros. 3”, would you not want to delete that?

@Stormblessed I would not want to delete that.
If it’s really so obvious that Mario is not. Knee, the answer will quickly get downvoted. It will ne at thebottom of the page and great out. It doesn’t cause much harm to anyone.

@Alex I would want to delete that, but my rule-following behaviour would probably get the best of me. :)

11:50 PM
I've posted several answers here that others have felt were straight-up wrong. If such deletions were allowed, my answers might have been deleted.
There's a user on Mi Yodeya who has posted hundreds of answers and has nearly 7,000 reputation but his average answer score is negative. If such deletions were allowed he might find most of his answers deleted.
By not censoring anything we allow for everyone and anyone to express their views. We also allow the rest of the userbase to grade them on it.
Seems like a good system to me.
