Q: 70s science fiction book series with intelligent alien dinosaurs/dumb Earth dinosaurs

vonbeinThe series featured human characters helping an intelligent alien T-rex-like female dinosaur run from someone through space. Would have been printed sometime before 1977.

Q: What scifi/horror movie or tv series?

h4feeI remember seeing this on tv when I was a kid (in 1980's). I'm not sure whether it was a movie or a tv series. I remember two things about it: 1. A cross was burned to the necks of people, and they became hypnotized or something like that. 2. People drowned in the quicksand (or through the sand)

Post it as a comment

@Jenayah There's already a comment saying that it's not Primarily Opinion-Based.
In any case, @Randal'Thor since you mentioned changing the close reason, if you disagree with me that it is not unclear I would still think that you should change the close reason rather than leaving it as is (unless you think that it's also Primarily Opinion-Based).

Q: How and why did Gollum "worship" Shelob?

Page 332In The Towers, Shelob's Lair, Tolkien writes that Gollum "bowed and worshipped" Shelob. Apparently this happened before he was captured and taken to Barad-Dur. @Stormblessed If you're worried about a single reputation point from downvoting, then you're doing it wrong :-)
There is sometimes a cost to being a responsible and active member of the site.
@Stormblessed No, because "very crappy" is subjective and not the same thing as off-topic/NAA/spam, which need to go according to objective site rules.
There's a lot of discussion across the network about "using close/delete votes as super downvotes", which means essentially what you're proposing: closing or deleting things just for being bad, which is what downvotes are for.
@Stormblessed In some cases it can be useful to keep very bad and very heavily downvoted answers, to show future viewers and users what types of answers we don't want. The score of a post sends a certain message all by itself.

The asura was tricked by the god Vishnu's only female avatar, the enchantress Mohini, to turn himself into ashes. == Legend == Bhasmasura was a devotee of the god Shiva who performed great penance to obtain a boon from the deity. Shiva became pleased and asked him to ask for a boon. Bhasmasura then asked that he be granted the power that anyone whose head he touched...

Should I delete comments like this when the question has an accepted answer?

@Stormblessed I don't think so; they provide guidance for future persons stumbling across a story-ID question and wanting to ask one.
It's not the same for, say, "If this sis the right answer you can accept it with the checkmark blahblahblah". I delete/flag those when the answer has been accepted because they're relaly obsolete and look like unnecessary nudging afterwards
I flagged a lot of those on story-ID Qs actually...
...and I know there are still a good, good lot out there on non-story-ID Qs because one user went on a "feel like accepting my answer yet?" spree a while back. Hence there are a LOT of these comments. Some can be deleted now that the answer's been acepted. Some are still out there... And while they're not "no longer needed", they can be frankly noise and greedy-sounding

`select top 500 c.Text, c.Id as [Comment Link], c.PostId as [Post Link]`

Why is code formatting broken here??
select top 500 c.Text, c.Id as [Comment Link], c.PostId as [Post Link]
from Comments c
where Text like '%checkmark%'
order by c.Score asc
So I have no idea what I'm doing. This is a working search, ripped off from this. It works to search for comments with "checkmark" in them
However, If I add another "where" on a new line, it has an error?
Why??
This help is useless

@Alex works perfectly!
on my answers: "If this is the right answer, you can acccept it by clicking the checkmark on the left."
On other people's answers: "$OP_name, if this is the right answer, you can accept it by clciking the checkmark on the left. Please do; it will show everyone the mystery was solved, and reward both you and $Answerer_name with some repuation :) "
@Stormblessed that's probably because approximately once a week, I check the newest accepted story-ID answers and delete/flag these obsolete comments :P
When they were on my own posts I delete them once I get the +15... It's easier to spot as acceptance is instant-notification
on other people's answer I manually check
