Q: Is Time Travel really possible in Avengers:End Game?

Kushal BhuyanIt's been a while since people are talking about the Avengers going back in time, in End Game, and would collect all the infinity stones and undo the "Snap", there by saving the day for all "half of the population of the Universe". But let's think for a moment, is it really possible? I have few...

Q: Book about a castle full of portals to other dimensions, everyone there has some magic

FuzzyBootsI read this as a paperback in the 1990s in Ashland, KY. I think the cover had the eponymous castle with various characters seen in it. I think I later learned it was the second book in the series. The viewpoint character was a female from Earth, or a place very like it, who accidentally transport...

Q: Is this an instance of Priori Incantatem?

I believe this also happens some other times in the later Harry Potter films other than Harry and Voldemort's duel in the graveyard during Gob...

Q: Book about a kid growing up in a colony on another planet with his father, meets a girl also in the colony and they explore together

PeterRemember reading a book in elementary school in the 90's about a kid who was on a different planet with his father (a colonizer I think) and I think they must have had a school for the children and he meets a girl. They explore the planet together and that's about all I remember. I think maybe th...

Q: Looking for an old sci fi book and can’t remember the title

Jonathan MichaelIt was a stand alone sci fi book, and in it there were helmets..? that stored information. I'm pretty sure it was set in a post apocalyptic future and it had old technology like hover crafts. There are are group of “heroes” looking for a lost helmet and they’re racing to find it before another gr...

@NeoDarwin M&TV always had (on average) much lower-quality ID question than SFF. One can speculate about the reasons: perhaps that it takes more attention to read a book than to watch a film (on SFF, book ID questions tend to be higher quality than film ID), or that sci-fi and fantasy ideas tend to be more distinctive/memorable, ...
@NeoDarwin M&TV had a long struggle with poor-quality ID questions. Eventually the mods and power users got a consensus on meta (which was later overturned once the wider community became aware what was going on), decided to ban ID altogether, and proceeded to nuke a big chunk of site content. It remains a ... controversial topic.

Q: What did Frank Herbert mean when he said "humans do not have equal ability"?

Leopoldo SanczykIn the "Dune Genesis" essay originally published in the July 1980 issue of Omni Magazine* Frank Herbert wrote: "I now believe that evolution, or deevolution[sic], never ends short of death, that no society has ever achieved an absolute pinnacle, that all humans are not created equal. In f...

Q: Aliens helping contact spirits of the dead?

Alyce NiquetteI am looking for a short story that involves a plane crash. However, aliens intervene; while they can’t save the crash victims, they have technology that lets them say goodbye to their loved ones.

8:39 AM
@NeoDarwin in addition to what Rand said, short stories, books (written works, I mean) tend to be more searchable than movies as you can hit the precise wording
Movies... Not so much. That's entirely dependent on how reviews (if they even exist) are phrased etc

Nikita NeganovIn Lost season 3, when Desmond tells Charlie about another vision where Charlie drowns, So did Desmond lie to him in order to fulfill something else he actually saw there and wanted to happen? Q: Magic in front of Muggles

Pipluplover17Obviously I know that doing magic in front of muggles is against the wizard laws. But let’s say you have a wizard who is married to a muggle. The muggle is aware that magic exists due to having a Muggle-Born wizard in their family. Is the wizard aloud to use magic?

Q: Why did Sauron's tower fall?

Q: Science or Science Fiction?

MuzeScience and Science fiction is not clear to me. For example: When technology exist to travel to Mars but because we have not done it yet is it still science fiction? AdamantIn order to give away one's Breath, one must say the correct Command with the intent to give away the Breath. This is in keeping with Endowment's Intent, which is to give things. Brandon has also said that Breath would be difficult to steal with Hemalurgy. In that sense, Breath must be given away...

@Stormblessed just being sad my profile isn't of enough importance to be snapshotted by the internet Archive :P

Q: Why is it not many people know the Evil Queen was originally Snow White’s BIOLOGICAL mother?

Alex DownsI mean, one Odyssey article called “Evil Queens are the princesses that were never saved,” it says that Evil Queens are the women that “end up marrying the WIDOWED King.” But in earlier versions of the Snow White fairytale, the King WASN’T widowed coz his first wife was alive and was the Evil Que...

I don't think we need a tag. The tag for the four books together should be enough.
It's not like we tag every Discworld book separately either.
@SQB ^

SQB
9:15 PM
Well, if you ask me, I think we should always tag the work.
Author, work, highest level franchise if applicable, intermediate level sub-franchise if sensible.

As well as chapter and page on the first edition.
Your last few questions really haven't been that well received and I suspect you might be heading toward a moderator message or even a question-ban if you continue to ask heavily downvoted Q's or those that get rapidly closed. You might want to strongly consider nipping into the SFF Chatroom to get some user feedback on your next few questions. I'm sure you'll find it invaluable in terms of helping to make them more focused. — Valorum 10 mins ago
This is a rather sound reply. Shall we point them to Meta as well? (Where more people would likely be to reply/comment)

Q: What is that one book with a main girl character that has nanomachines and a humanoid buffalo partner

Blue9RubyI think this book has something to do with D&D, but the basic set up is that the Hadron Collider malfunctioned and all of the infinite universes (multiverse theory) converged and combined to create an apocalyptic world where all of these universes overlap. The main girl has nanobots that can eat ...

10:03 PM
@SQB Ok. The question is if it's more important than in scifi.stackexchange.com/q/157608/4918 , since we can't fit six tags.

tag is kinda... not... useful
2
in general

@Jenayah It depends. This isn't one of those HP fanfic IDs that are tagged with just because the characters incidentally happen to be in Hogwarts when they have sex. The time travel is essential to the question.
3
But yes, probably still not very important.

m'ok
I trust you on this :)

SQB
@Jenayah I agree. While someone may be a fan or even an expert on time travel stories, actually labelling the work, the author, and the franchise, gives far more information and is far more likely to attract the people who can answer.

Indeed.
@Marvin should this be tagged ? OP "thought this book had something to do with Dungeons & Dragons" and it didn't strike me when reviewing that we had a D&D tag, but in hindsight it might have been tagged as such
On the other hand I'm biased because the accepted answer does confirm it's D&D and we don't retroactively tag story-id questions with the work tag
Although this is an universe tag and not a work tag - am I making sense?

10:26 PM
That you are at least.

What do you mean, "at least"?! :P

10:55 PM
@SQB The author and the franchise is clearly needed. That's four obvious tags: . The question was only the fifth tag.
There are only four Johnny Maxwell books (I've only read the one, and it's not even the first one), my two questions seem to be the only ones about them.

11:08 PM
@RDFozz No. I think it’s my eleventh use.

11:21 PM
Actually, it was my twelfth use.
